Jamaldelika and Banghi Haze in the open

I too pictured the Bangi as a medium size plant they have the potential to become real monsters.
Had a surprise this morning the Grape Ape male I've been sharpening my clips to whack showed female preflowers I assumed it was male because of the lack of preflowers. I started it mid-March and it's 2 meters tall. Long days up here.

Been a while Orfeas hope all is well. My Purple LUI/Mendo Early Girl is switching to the white hair phase hacked my first two males for pollination. My Bangi male is starting to produce balls although they're very immature. The Bangi female is just switching into flowering mode probably a couple weeks behind the LUI. The 5 g's are somewhere in between. The Blue Flash I grew last year is on schedule with the Bangi I think it's first or second week of October.
I tried a couple Bodhi strains and Blue Digi Berry in a different spot the Digi Berry is slow looks like more of an indoor strain a little finicky. It is lovely I love blueberry just more of a challenge outdoors. The Roadkill Unicorn is a champ 2 meters tall and in early flowering looks like it will be dense long colas like an indoor plant but outdoors. I'll have some hopefully non blurry pictures soon.

Orfeas, my Bangi Haze hasn't started throwing out many white hairs yet either. It is no longer in veg growth it's in the nether world of preflower purgatory. My blue flashes are in the same place. I've grown the Flash for a couple years now it's sativa leaning and done by about Oct 10. I hope Bangi has a similar schedule.
Been noticing some old petioles have a dusting of grey mold spores. Gone through and removed them all. So far so good but it can all come apart so fast.
Hoping Bangi is similar to the Flash in mold resistance also. Despite cool wet oceanic air it's never been touched by grey mold. Planted my last few seeds of it this year so I'm getting my pollen q-tips ready.

Grey mold? Oh, hush!!! despicable spores, already lost a Nepjam to them and hope the pollinated one will hold out, at least till seeds are mature enough...

Screw the Nepjams... were you a minimoy, I'd invite you to some canopying in my Jamaldelicas' jungle.
Managed to drag a folding ladder in my niche and voila...

What I observe is a lot of self-defoliation, as if they're trying to get some air circulation themselves. Yet, I wonder whether they're asking me for some extra feeding, but of what I can't really tell...still gotta learn their dialect
Furthermore, it seems they don't like topping very much for I see stunned growth around the topped part.
However, the side branches still keep expanding...

Btw, your garden is a delight!

Wow those Zamaldelicas are beauties! Love those lithe narrow leaves. Trying a few Malawis and Black Viet/Thai, figure by starting them late they won't get big and I can pull them inside to finish when it gets wet. Here's a young Malawi.

The 5 G's are taking their time going into flowering. I am excited by the 5 G's especially the Yellow. They are greasy fat leaf hashplants 6-9 feet tall looks like heavy yielders!

I try not to top my plants outside because I like to document the different growth patterns they take. This year I've had a lot of the Tall/Upright types Robert Connell Clark talked about in his book Marijuana Botany. The 5 G's Purple was an extreme example almost no branching and it keeps shooting up taller.

My Purple LUI/California Early crosses also show that structure but the branches are longer.

I am really pleased with them I've been trying to get a good Mendocino fruit strain for a while. The smell is tropical fruit. They are switching into flowering quickly.

Had the first storm in a while hit. It knocked a few plants around broke a couple branches. My Bangi was shaken up badly. My journal from last year is full of references to grey mold I was just thinking how lucky I've been when the weather changed. Let's hope the weather is nice three weeks from now.

The fruit are wrapped in papery husks you peel them and roast them in the broiler. Then they go in the blender with salt, lime, and hot chilis to make a great hot sauce that's also good for braising pork and chicken.

We grow the tomatillos, here in Oregon, but we only get a good harvest on the very hot summers, like this one. We don't have to plant them anymore as they volunteer in our garden on their own, from some that we missed harvesting. It is the ingredient for the spicy green sauce that we love so much.
