I think all of you should go to the streets with a gg4 bud sample and smell it with young gan'sters and ask to tell what kind of smell has it... it would be independent testing.

was given a 5or6 pack of these from a friend who bought some seeds and received them as a freebie. I hear the guy who runs riot is a real bag of dicks but whats it to me I found a cool male and I would never personally give the guy any of my money.
The male had a very little leaf alot of flower sites and nice light purple flowers. I dont think i Could improve on the gg4 but even if I get 50% the funk gg4 has into a purple flower I would be happy.

Gg4 turns purple when flushed long enough and flowered long enough. It at least gets hues of it. If you can possibly keep the funk and frost and add purple color that might have serious bag appeal. Best wishes there keep us updated.

This post here made me crack up...truly funny.

But it does bring up an interesting point - outside of the racial profiling..

We are only able to compare smells and aromas based off our previous database of experiences. As much as this limits how much a sheltered individual is able to make accurate comparisons, it also gives credence to the notion that we all smell something slightly differently...but that it doesn't actually change what the smell is - merely how we relate to it.

There really is a lot of truth to the statement of having an "educated palate". Some may down play it due to their own lack of varied experiences or knowledge...but the more often you use your in your mouth and nose...the more you are able to make comparative analysis on what you are experiencing. Somethings may smell very similar, but there are nuances that create a deviation...

It's the experience to distinguish between wood and oak or cedar or pine...the ability to tell the difference in sweet between candy and a specific citrus...

There really is something to it...an educated palate.

I wouldn't hesitate to make small of those that have the ability to distinguish. Those guys can improve your output better than ANYONE...because they can distinguish every error...every fault...every not quite perfect - and that is golden when trying to perfect your craft.

Ask any wine producer if they love or hate the sincere critic...

Frank, I think the number of people with a true deep palette to their nose or tongue is a small fraction of the number that claim it. Blind taste testings of wine have repeatedly shown the "experts" are mostly full of shit. There are certainly those who can and do discern a large depth of smells, and their help is valuable to the producer - but I wonder what help it is if the majority of people can't. If we were all colour-blind it would be fantastic to have someone who could see in full colour to describe things, but it wouldn't change your experience. I think the same can be said when someone with a bloodhound's nose can smell all these smells but the majority of users go "it smells fruity to me".

Yes My 1st few harvest where all Chem sour... I didn't smell any Choc or coffee. After I got her dialed to my room the Aromas I was missing are now the strongest..

Sweet!!!!!! That's what I like to hear!!! Yeah this run had its problems with aphids and mites and it was the first time I ran her under the big lights with co2. My little test cab I have is dialed right in and the first plant of glue I flowered in there had the chocolate/mocha smell and taste and not so much sour. I kinda like the sour taste better......but then again this is my first "legit clone only" strain I've ever grown. Never had the pleasure of the "real" ecsd or any of the chem cuts. Now after trying the glue.......I wanna run some other "famous" "elite" cuts and see if they live up to their hype like the glue does.

My first run of glue had one plant closet to my ac in, that went a light purple in a few spots but nothing to rich,like you said hues..

I think the majority of the people who claim some deep nose with coffee/wine/scotch are talking out of their asses. There's a perceived social superiority with things like that and people don't want to admit they just smell coffee, just smell alcohol and a hint of oak. I used to be a real scotch drinker, and there are a lot of smells going on in there, but too often I've seen friends get a chuckle out of some self-proclaimed expert by passing them a glass of Dewer's, tell them it's Oban or Laphroaig, and then listen as they babble on about all the smells you know they're not really smelling.

It doesn't take any kind of social superiority to smell the sour grapes in your chuckles...
