Jeter as good as he was can't field, barely hits .270 and has minimal, and I mean minimal, power.

They are not making the playoffs. It just isn't happening. Look closely at their line-up. There is nothing there.

I guess 210 million dollar roster just wasn't enough. O's are slumming at 130 million next to them.

dissin' on Jeter??? you got some set, crawl outta Showalter's butt and open your eyes.

he's 40 & retiring but wouldn't/couldn't go out on that 2013 ankle injury season, hell no. Jeter's a 5X (THAT'S FIVE TIME) Gold Glove winner in his 20 years, wtf do you mean he can't field, wtf do you think he was doing during the 15 years he didn't earn the GG? Committing errors @ SS??? it's so rare that he makes an error that I'm sure your petty Oriole broadcasters latch onto and exploit it in their vindictive 'gotta please the O's!' kinda way.

every batting stat of Jeter's is better than the league average except in home runs and he's 40!!! well passed the league average age right???

14X All Star selection, WHAT DO THE ORIOLES GOT???

I was laughing my ass off at you & Showalter the other night, they were showing a Jeter milestone moment @ Yankee stadium while playing the O's back in 2012. The Stadium erupted in cheers, Jeter had to step out for a couple of ovations and there's Showalter, all the blood drained from his already too pale face, the corners of his petty mouth turned down, a true fucking sportsman, NOT!!!

Jeter is going down in history as one of the greatest ball players to have lived, his stats and the names of those players he's rivaled in his 20 years of baseball probably won't be equaled again in our lifetime. Jeter owns 5 of the BIG RINGS. whatchu got???

and because you guys are on a tear this year you think a real Yankee fan is gonna sit back and watch you dish crap on my team or Jeter???????

You ain't getting past the AL east (again) this year. talk all the friggin' smack you want.......

WTH!!!

I was saying Jeter this year. He stayed to set some records. That's cool. But he can't field now. He is slow and no range. He won't even bat .270 this year. The Yankees have nothing this year. Nothing!

Nobody with 25 home runs, nobody with 100 rbi and no chance to make the playoffs.

Jeter is going down in history as one of the greatest ball players to have lived
Yet Jeter is not as good as Ripken.

Ripken didn't have a superstar lineup to protect him.

Ripken won TWO MVP awards. TWO!

Ripken has 431 HRs (twice as many as Jeter)

Ripken never struck out 100 times in a year, Jeter has struck out 100 times or more 10 times.

Ripken led the league in runs, hits and doubles one year

Ripken led the league in total bases once

Jeter was an all star 14 interrupted times in 20 years and Ripken was an all star 19 times in a row in 20 years.

Oh and Ripken has Gehrig's record now.

What single non positional ALL TIME record does Jeter Have? Besides most Jeffrey Maier aided home runs in a playoff game.

They both won ROY.

What do the Orioles have? First place guy. FIRST PLACE!!!

If you want positional records Jeter has the most hits as a short stop but Ripken has the most home runs by a short stop.

And Ripken has more home runs over the next guy (ernie banks) than Jeter has hits over Wagner.

and yet Jeter's still the finest SS in modern MLB.

Ripken hit more doubles and more homers & rbi's than Jeter, that's it!

consider this for the reason he appeared in 19 All Star games, Ripken was the one constant shining star of that club, from '84 on you guys placed 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th in the AL, 3rd & 2nd a couple of times too. Ripken was an average fielder but was likely added to the All Star rosters for his bat & to include an Oriole (or 2) in the lineup.

Jeter has more Gold Gloves
Jeter has more hits in less games
Stolen bases, Jeter 357+ (caught 96 Xs)~Ripken 36 (caught 39 Xs)
Jeter's 20 yr batting avg .311 (currently)~Ripkens avg .276
Jeter's OBP .379 (currently) Ripkens .340
Jeter has 66 triples, Ripken has 44
Jeter & Ripken nearly dead even in slugging %
and then there's all those rings.

oh yeah, if Ripken actually had twice as many homers as Jeter then he'd have 518 homers, not 431. Those homers of Ripken's were certainly his ticket to all those all star games. word.

yup, you had your Ripken, but he ain't no Derek Jeter.......

No he isn't a Jeter. He was better. Jeter has no league MVPs. None! Jeter was never even the main guy on his own team.

Most of the things you mention are because he was a leadoff man and had paid mercenary superstars behind him in the lineup.

WAR for career Ripken 95.5 Jeter 72.2

If they were both on the same team Jeter would never had started over Ripken.

Please go learn about baseball and then get back to me.

19 all star games in a row. And some of them made Jeter a second team All Star.

What gets me is they expect everybody to kiss Derek Jeter's feet because he was a mythical "Yankee" bla bla blah.

This guy gets treated like god, I don't remember Paul Molitor or Wade Boggs getting treated like this with gifts and what not from every other team.

Don't expect me to grovel at this guys feet just because he was "Mr. Yankee" .

and now you pull the WAR #s out of your butt, spare me.

you've got a petty excuse for everything, now his numbers are because of others bats....... WRONG!!!!

Here's one for you, Ripkens numbers looked so good because he was surrounded by washouts for 21 years. two can play at that game.

Ripken was great but Jeter was much much better.

Need real proof??? Look @ the POST season batting stats. :)
Derek Jeter World Series MVP, Ripken got one of those??? didn't think so. And then (sung to the tune of The 12 Days of Christmas) there's those ♪♪ Five Golden Rings....... 🎶

don't blame Jeter for being surrounded by talent, his stats stand alone.

League MVPs crush WS MVP. World Series is a team effort not an individual achievement.

Ripken 2 Major League Player of Year Awards.... Jeter 0

Ripken 5 time fieding % leader (4 at ss) Jeter 2

Ripken led league in range factor at SS 3 times Jeter 0

Ripken led in SS assists 7 times Jeter 2 (never when Ripken played)

Ripken 8 Silver Slugger Awards Jeter 5 (after Ripken retired never when he was active)

Ripken is best remembered for breaking Lou Gehrig's record for consecutive games played, a record that had stood for 56 years and many deemed unbreakable. A record Yankee fans cherished. Now it is an Oriole record.
2,632 consecutive games 502 more games than Gehrig. Gehrig held it for 56 years.

Ripken is the reigning IRON MAN! It will never be broken. EVER! It is the most unbreakable record in sports. Every other record will fall but not this one.

those are ALL peripheral stats, awards, accolades for performance etc, Jeter crushes Ripken where it counts, the real #s, batting #s. and still, Jeter's 5 Gold Glove seasons tell you that he was a better fielder than Ripken.

as far as the consecutive games thing??? Gehrig was stricken down in his prime by disease ending his run of games; and like it or not Gehrig is another Yankee that will be remembered and spoken about without Ripken even being a thought or consideration, just like Jeter.

As far as records not ever to be broken?
27 World Series Championships....... :)

According to your thinking Jeter was better than Mantle and Dimaggio.

I am done arguing this point. It was fun until I had to keep defeating you with facts. Now it is boring.

Green Lung if Molitor was a Yankee they would still be talking about him. Same with Robin Yount.
Boggs would have Yaztremski status if he would have stayed in Boston but he became a Yankee and then a Tampa Bay Rays.

Stoner this all started because I had the audacity to say Jeter wasn't very good this year and that the Yankees had a weak team.

Look there might be hope. The Orioles now lost Wieters and Machado and lost 3 in a row. The Yanks are only 6 games back.

There will be no Tanaka until 2016 at the earliest. The Yankees' chance at the playoffs dropped from 6.7% to 6.4% according to Yahoo Sports based on Baltimore winning again.

The below average players they obtained that were playing way over their head are now coming back down to earth.

Many fans like myself enjoy the Yankees being down.

It is almost as good as your own team doing good. In my case it is double fun because my team is in first place.

Right now it is good to be an Oriole fan.

Jeter watch update... .264 3HR 36 RBI 39 RUNS 39 runs is worse than a fat catcher batting in the 9 hole. Yet he won't tell them to move him down in the line-up.
