I never really thought about the airpots before but... plants suck up water right? So it seems like these pots are like poking holes in your plants straw. To much air!

Idk, just makes sense to me.

sucking requires a pressure difference... the plants don't pressurize or depressurize the container in order to absorb water and nutes... I believe the roots use capillary action.

the medium should do the job of holding the water... the air pots allow for auto bonsai by air pruning the roots, and they jus add extra aeration which roots enjoy they also make overwatering more difficult, but under watering easier.

I think they have their uses, but I digress, back to glue :D

So, I'm an east coaster heading to the Bay area next week and have a prospect of picking up a GG#4 cut. I'm planning on putting the cut/s inside a sliced open damp sponge sealed in a plastic bag and coming back east with. The cut will be in the sponge for 2 days max. You see any problems there? Are these cuts temperamental or are they hardy?

if you have a cooler put it in there. refrigerated it will last way longer. keep it cool and totally dark but dont expose it directly to ice. itll be totally fine wrapped loosely in a lightly moistened paper towel in a protective shell "( like a little box jar or pringles can) so it doesnt crush. wrapp what would be the rooting bottom in a moist paper towel piece and rubberband it. put the hard shell containing plant in a sealed baggie. keep cooler iced leave it alone til you get there. it will be fine. probably root in a week. make sure to make a fresh cut before you put in rooting medium or areo cloner. and a dome is a must until it acclimates to being out of the bag.

and before you ask, no it wont go into flower. it requires some level of growth and alternating between more than one dark light cycle to initiate flower. one loooooooooong dark period where no growth occurs wont initiate flowering.

trust me. ive done a lot of research on this particular method lol.

my nutes just wont hold up in a rez so i have a small table set up and i have been doing manual long cycle flood and drain...i dump the nutes in,let them soak in for a few hours and drain the waste...only need to do that every three days, seems to be working pretty well so far...

Is your medium coco/perlite? Plants always look great!

Having spent money on air pots and smart pots, I felt dumb when my yields multiple runs were the same as regular pots that I already owned. Zero differance accept having to water way slower to not leak shit everywhere. Flood n drain they are tits but hand water or top fed suck a fat one IMO. And they dry out faster = more work for zero increase in yield. And more money spent unnecessarily
Reg Pots are fine with me

My glues are getting fat grenades on top a week sooner than I've had in the past. Bout to start week 7 and the flush in a couple days. Pleased with the yield again.

i didn't try air pots but i did run the smart pots & found the same thing , no difference in yield , just feeding more cuz they dried out faster . i tried Hempys too with no difference , the only thing that was different with them was i didn't have to drain the catch tray every night cuz theres no holes in the bottom of the pots , just the one drain hole on the side . & they could be fed every other day in veg . less transplanting too .

Pay me no mind. I've sniffed too much glue this week. :D

Ss4 adv diff than ss4? Works great, just dont like neighbours seeing the ss4 bags... promix seems less suspicious...

the advanced mix is 40% coco so it works more like a lazy mans coco since you can skip days and let it dry out,i use smart pots too for the most part.the combo of the sunshine advanced mix,the smart pots and the general organic nutes makes it stupidly simple.my yields are nothing to brag about but theres no meters, barely need to measure, dont need to use much so its cheap in the long run and i almost never have any problems at all.1 1/2 per light is totally fine by me,pays the bills very well...

Thank you for that info! I used to run the sunshine4. All coco drain to waste myself. I like your feed method. Definitely working well. Makes me consider the ss4 mix again.

To add my two pennies...

I usually take a bundle of up to 5 cuts or so and wrap a strip of moist paper towel around the cut ends.

Detailed explanation: Use like a 3-4" strip, start with the cut ends about 1.5-2" at the edge of the paper towel, roll the paper towel around the cut ends about halfway, fold the paper towel, then finish rolling it around the cut ends, secure it with a little rubber band if you want to. This gives the cut ends a nice moist place to stay. A sponge may be too porous.

I've had cuts survive and successfully root after a week or more of being in a paper towel, but the sooner the better of course. Just put it in a dark, cool place. A cooler would be a good idea if you're going to be driving, just don't let them get too cold. They'll be fine! GG#4 is quite easy to clone and pretty hardy, compared to some.

Good luck! :D
