No problem Art. Im a coco newb so blast away with the info. Never hurts to be reminded of what little I do know and theres an awful lot I don't know.

They are some long legged ladies :D didn't expect them to outpace SLH. Any taller and I would have had to climb up there and mess with the light. And all the budsites..! That's what I like. :)
Vert would be awesome with these girls and the sativas Ill be running. Ive got so many new beans that I want to run all together. A round and a half to go, then comes a slew of Ace/Cannabiogen gear. Possibly with an elite or 2! Never thought Id get a shot at any of those. Pretty exciting stuff for a guy on the edge of the backwoods! In other words, vert has to wait.

My name is wildgrow and I have an addiction, a bean addiction. Did I order more beans? Yes, yes I did. Sent out for some Sunshine Daydream today. They were restocked at Seed Vault of Cali 3 days ago - could be sold out again already. 2nd choice - Cuban Black Haze/BSHB, 3rd - Colombian Black. Who needs new kicks? So what if theyre totally blown out so that a hobo would reject them? Apparently, not me. :D

This thread flies at pace! Gotta visit more often..

Loving the variety.. Because I'm a half arsed lazy man I'm not up to date on what you've got in flower but I'm sure everything here is top notch. They all look good wild..

I'm afraid of coco myself and only really deal with soil.. kinda old school I guess.. Props for going with it with dedication..

HS - They were Bay freebies. Almost the last time I run them. Ive got 1 in veg, but I might switch it out and dump it. Im not particularly impressed with it. Got higher hopes for the chuck. The male has started to drop pollen :) In a few days, Ill chop his tops and whip the ladies.

Kal - Ive got SLH, MM, StrawD and BS 2.2. You know, I was ascared myself - used real dirt for my 1st couple grows. It stayed too wet and I switched to Promix. Then I started downsizing my pots to see how far I could push plant size.
As I see it, the only choice I had to keep my pots small and get a good yield was switching to coco.
So... next bud cycle is all coco and the plants (in veg) are doing pretty good. Only a couple of hiccups: 1) I should have rinsed it twice, and 2) they were in Promix. I had to rinse out as much as I could and did a little root damage in the process.

Im pretty pleased so far. I expected more problems having switched my nutes, medium and pot size/type all at the same time. Another 4 weeks and we'll really see whats up when the coco dancers get hit with the hps.

What still scares me? Timing. If I don't get it right, Ill either have plants that are too big for my veg space or too small to bud.
I do have a plan, tentatively speaking. Cuts/seeds going 4-5 weeks in 5 oz then 1 pint cups/pots. Those will get transplanted into 1/2 gal fabric pots for another 4-5 weeks. Then, when I start havesting the plantry, they'll get put into 2 gal fabric pots (thatll give them about 7-10 days to get comfy) and under the hps as soon as harvest is over.
(See there? Increasing pot volume x4 with each transplant.)

Caveat: Im going to grow a bunch of sats/sat doms, so I might have to extend the 1st 2 veg phases to 6 weeks. And maybe go up to 10-20 days for final veg.

Thanks for posting up guys. I was toying with the thought of dropping the updates.

Nooooo, ya gotta update so i can see the StrawD. Where she at? I love that strain. I'm sitting on mine for outdoor here. Keep on a schedule for the coco, the growth is crazy. Very easy to veg to big in coco. Lookin good in here.

Pics 3 and 4 are the StrawDs. For once, Im keeping a schedule - even got a calendar :D It goes something like feed, water, water, feed - that is until Im rocking (fingers crossed) the coco.

The coco dancers are getting fed every time - that's every 3-4 days depending on humidity. 6/9 + 2 mls cal/mag + 2 mls silica + 1/2 ml up = 6.0 ph Dirty girls are getting 5/10 + 2 + 3 + 2 = 7.0 ph. Ill be glad to be done guesstimating in dirt.

I welcome any info you can give. Esp. the stuff experienced coco growers might not think about mentioning because its 2nd nature.

After so long everything becomes 2nd nature lol. Here you are joining the realm of coco an i'm about to leave it after this run. I'm gonna mix up some greatness in a trash can an just water in with teas. Don't get me wrong, coco is awesome, but organics is where the flavor is. I see a side by side coming my next grow with half coco plants, an half organic medium plants.

That would be a great idea. Id sub up for that one.

Found a good use for the bucket my buddy gave me.

picture.php

Ill use this 10 inch net pot and pick up a 5 gal bucket for the girls when they go into the 2 gal pots. Ill also snag a 8 and a 6 inch for the small and smaller pots. They make 8s, right? Ill have to check on that.

Got those Black Widow pics up in my thread. Funny you say structure cause its the first thing I notice on the BW's besides the variegation on 2 of them.

Nice drain bucket.

I increased feed back to 5/10 for these dirty girls and they finally started to get their stack on. Im going to try 4/10 because theres just too much N for SLH and StrawD. Besides, its about time to drop it anyway.

1st a quick peek at 1 of the coco girls. SHappyLH.

picture.php

You see those nasty leaf edges? That's what MM thought of getting fed at 6.1. Dropped to 5.8 and they seem better. And I wont let the coco get so dry.

Chuck progress:
A few days ago, I chopped off BBxC99s peckers and bitch slapped the ladies with them. This SLH is a slut. Not a single white pistil left on her.

picture.php

Now for the good stuff.

Theres a lot more plant at the front left - just cant get back far enough to get everything.

picture.php

BS 2.2 - Wont yield much but theres more there than meets the eye.

MM - I was worried she wasn't going to put out but shes fattening up now.

SLH - Mm-mm-mm! She smells so good!

Straw Ds - Oh, Im sorry, Artie. Did I make you wait all this time and go through all that other stuff 1st? Heh-heeheehee-heh-heh... ;) Its alphabetical - blame the ancient Arabs.

Didn't get a good pic of the 3rd StrawD. Its got the smallest buds but the most frost.

Trying to figure out how to feed the dirty girls with GH hasn't been fun, but it hasn't been difficult either. Lots of trial and error. Think Ive it figured out for the most part. Enough to get an ok yield anyway. And just in time to never need it again. Oh well.

Im happy with my choice of coco too. It could have used a 2nd rinse, but only to get rid of more of the ultra fine particles. Once was enough to wash away any salt that might have been in it.

Now that Im feeding 5.8 there are no signs of lockout. I did let 1 plant that previously showed signs get really dry. Only 1 leaf tip got freaked. Since I wont be allowing them to dry out that much anymore, I don't expect to see it again.

Think Ill add a 3rd 2 tube light to my veg rig. I can just unplug it when running the chuck box.

Really wish I could run 600 in the plantry with an exhaust upgrade to 8". I will upgrade my 6" so theres a total air exchange twice per minute. Should help with summer temps by a few degrees.

Next summer Im gonna try like hell to not run the plantry at all. Maybe vegging - ya, probably vegging. If I get the timing right, I can harvest by the end of June, shut down for 2 weeks, then veg from mid July to mid August. That way itll be September by the time buds start forming.

Those are of great interest to me - though Im not sure I could say why exactly. The word black? I think with the Cuban my interest lies in the fact that it was isolated on an island. Though I don't know how likely it is that Dutch genetics might be wrapped up in it. Europeans vacation in Cuba - hard for Americans to think of Cuba that way.

---------------------------------------

Hmm, good question Art. They should be 8ish, I think. I flowered the 1st 2 weeks under mh because my hps must have gotten bumped and didn't fire. The sativa-esque plants really didn't do anything during that time. They look like they'll go at least until mid-sept, but Im thinking more likely the end of sept.

Ill try to get a pic of the 3rd StrawD tonight. Its a hell of a lot prettier than the other two. No N clawing, tight and frosty buds - most likely the keeper if there is one.

----------------------------------------

I cant wait to get the coco plants in there

Woohoo!

Plantry is PACKED! Liking the stuff in the middle. and the MM sure looks like good weed.

FYI the bagged coco saves you a lot of work brother. You don't need to guess if it needs a 2nd rinse, and you won't need to worry, plus its ready, so no mess/fuss to get it going.

Thats my experience, and i can smell the SLH here. Im sure thats what gives the phaze her sweetness.

Seeing the MM and SLH - I can see what traits came from each one, and are now in the PHaze.

you should make one of those ghetto 5 gallon bucket A/C's lol, just using a gallon of frozen water. Just a thought. I think its around 30-40$ complete.

I see you talking about popping beans, which ones?
