I topped the dream berry and the tallest blackberry kush because the others still need time and I would like them to fill out more. The light setup I had has to be high so it can flood the tent on each side. But I took out the big guys on the other half and got some clones of the blue magoo and casey jones, and they're ready to go in a bed. They're bigger than a "clone" since they've been growing a couple weeks at my aunts house. I don't normally get a stretch period like most others do with the last harvest. I'm mean, they grow a couple inches but they don't ever double or nothing. I'm thinking that this time will be different and the ceiling on the tent is only so high so I'm going to put up a scrog and start training them soon.

EDIT: I also moved the light over and adjusted the wings to center the light so everyone is more lit up. I'm hoping that this will give me the 1/2" stacked nodes I'm used to. I'm going to have to get another light for the other half eventually. I'm concerned about temps though as the 1000w MH has it up to 80's during the night time outdoor temps. The tent is in my garage with the door open 2 and a half inch and nailed shut in several spots.

I found this cute video of a lady growing flowers and tomatoes in either worm tea or miracle grow. She wanted to know if there was a difference. The worm tea tomato looks much better than the miracle grow and then she talks about her delphiniums where the worm tea one is growing healthy with a small amount of bug damage on one leaf where as the miracle grow is the exact opposite and the bugs ate it up. Thought it was a pretty good and if you're bored, have it a go!

Made a video for you to enjoy that talks about what I'm feeding Dream Berry and the rest of the gang so far.

so a little about my light setup since it's been effecting my internode length and some of the girls aren't getting light. I have a 1000w MH with an adjust-a-wing large reflector. this is the first reflector I bought and I would not buy it again. I bought it because it advertises a large light pattern that should fill a 4x8 tent almost; only if the light is hung 6 ft high. It also has a shadow spot in the center that is HUGE almost taking up half of the tent so the girls on the outside get more light than the girls on the inside. I adjust the wings to help with the shadow and that works well but makes my lighting not cover as much space. Sure the plants are physically lit up but the plant is stretching towards the light and that effects yields and that is a big NO!

So to add another light is expensive and will raise the temp and both of these are going to be hard to deal with as of yet. However, I start school again at the end of September so I will get a huge amount of grants to use "towards my education and living expenses" so I should be able to buy a new light setup with a dimmable ballast so I can adjust for temp fluctuations during warm months but WA is usually pretty cold so I can up my watts to produce heat as well. I do have a 400w ballast and MH bulb but the capacitor is broken so I'm ordering one online from amazon and will somehow fix it without electrocuting myself.

I also added a dehumidifier since after watering my RH rockets up and right now its pouring down buckets of rain and 55F. Gotta love Washington summers. I was just checking Farmers Almanac which states that PNW is going to have an awesome warm and dry season which so far is holding true except for this small rain storm that moved in for the next two days. Going to have beautiful weather for Oly Hempfest this weekend!!!

Stopped by to say hi and see whats happening. Wanted to let you know I got the parts to make that prototype of the vortex brewer we were talking a while back. I'll try and get some pics if your interested. I will be using a 5gal bucket for the prototype. The conical tank is like 200 delivered so I wanna make sure it is gonna be right before final build.

I enjoyed your photos of your garden. Plants look very happy. I need to come by more often :D

I forgot to mention that I think it was a great idea to go with the dry budswell. The liquid will go anerobic if not used quickly. But yo probably now that.

I actually hadn't considered that but it would make sense. good lookin out BayBHuey!

I would so love to see how you did you brewer. I'm basically just watering with the green labeled super tea, molasses and mycos mixed in water and let to sit for a while. I let it sit for 12 hours and then I tried to hook up the venturi water pump with the air hose injecting air down a 6-7 ft long 1/2" hydro tubing that had a garden hose adapter on the end which I hooked up to a watering wand. My water pump should be bigger though because the venturi attachment reduces pressure significantly. I really wanted the most freshly aerated waterings possible if I wasn't going to bother brewing. The air in the hose is trapped and absorbed as it travels up the tube. This increases DO; not microbial life since it's only turned on when your actually feeding your girls. I was going to make the video of my watering the girls and how my watering wand works but it didn't work out that way and a bigger pump would mean I would need to brew bigger batches so the pump is always submerged at the end of the watering. So I just took off the hose and watering wand, cleaned up a airstone and hooked up one big air pump to the water pump, one big air pump into a large airstone and the 60 gallon into a 4 inch disc airstone. I am running 18 watts of power for my air pumps and keep my batches to about two gallons which should give me decent DO rates. I let the air pumps run about an hour and then I fed them by hand watering. Then I shot the video and didn't quite explain the whole process.

The reason I dislike airstones is that the air pump injects air into the water. now air has loads of thing in it, including spores, like fungi and pathogens. Then it gets injected into your compost brewer or in the older days, my hydro rez. I have soaked stuff in bleach water, copper sulfate dutchmasters zone, and H2O2 and it doesn't matter. It seems to plague me.

If you're going to take the time to build a prototype, you should try to find an equivalent conical design so everything works right. the slime in your 5 gallon bucket that you mentioned (pretty sure this was you) you get after brewing is the "dead zones" and I'm willing to bet, that they are where the wall and floor of the bucket meet. This is because the shape of the bucket and that's why vortex uses the conical shapes. I bet you can use the water jug like the video and they're only $40 I believe at walmart. it's even filled with water for you too! haha!!

I really look forward to seeing your prototype. I think it would work better for smaller batches but that's just my humble opinion.

I have a surprise for you!!

I went to the dispensary where I got Dream Berry and they had a few left. I bought one and some others (Obama Kush, Sugar Palm, and Bogglegum) so I can show you what the finished buds look like in time for voting. I threw in my bigger girls, Blue Magoo and GSC along with the Dream Berry Clone to flower starting tomorrow. They are on a 12/12 1000w Hortilux Super HPS. I will flip them tomorrow. I took some of the Black Gold potting soil that is organic and per gallon I mixed up:
2T Budswel
1T Super Tea
2T (6-5-3) calcitic lime, srp, and gypsum
1T Kelp meal
top mulch Ancient Forest Humus

Then I just need to water.....hopefully!
Like tleaf jr said, "we need some frost up in here!"

Diggin your grow, DDNuggs.

Science of the thread is a fair bit over my head at this point, but love doing some reading about it. And really love your space, still need to get some mylar myself ;). My "flower shower" just makes me lust for more space to see what I am able to grow within the bounds of our Amendment 64.

I started out in a 4x2x5ft homemade tent with a homemade hydro system and have "graduated" to a 4x8x6 tent, a 6x8x10 storage room with 12k btu AC, Raptor Dual Bulb reflector, hired an electrician who also grows to hook me up with more power. I had him put in a breaker box so the grow room in the garage area (both rooms) have their own breaker. Plus there's room for more as soon as my mom gets her medical card. It's fairly addicting to grow and you ALWAYS want more bigger and better stuff. Now I've learned to just go big or go home because you'll always end up upgrading.

also, when having to grow and stay within your limits, I'm trying things like scrogging and long veg times in the tent because of the restricted ceiling height and in the storage room that has ten foot tall ceilings....TREES!! the girls in there right now that I just sent into flower are about two ft tall or so and are just as bushy as they are tall, plus I have no more pot to smoke and am forced to buy from the dispensary again. I want to grow out big ones next round so hopefully by then, I will have a good system going so I don't have down time in between harvests.

Scrog definitely in my future, looks like best opportunity to maximize space. In major experimental mode, so who knows where I end up, but sure fun playing. Will be much happier in second round (knock on weed)

Bought my light decades ago for a 3x4 closet, so my current spot was an expansion right off the bat and round two will be better, but I think you just aspire to bigger and bigger and better and better.

D

DoubleDDsNuggs

last time I think I waited to long to put up the scrog and so this time, I'm going to start training them when they're 1.5' tall. I bought a nylon trellis from home depot and I heard that it is better than plastic or metal because you just chop the plant at the base for harvest and then cut the net off the scrog frame and you can literally carry out a giant carpet of pot. it's only $4 for a huge amount of netting too.

D

DoubleDDsNuggs

not only is it about maximizing space but really it's about utilizing your grow light properly. Your grow light can only penetrate so far into the canopy so growing these big trees untrained gives you popcorn buds farther down the plant. If you scrog the plant out, you maximize the light so the plant has an even depth and grows flat like a carpet. you then lollipop below the netting for better airflow. Also by training the limbs that are growing up tallest, you force the growth hormones to relocate to other limbs because you force the growing tip under the scrog which makes it lower than the others which gives them more growth hormones. growth hormones are located in the highest part of the plant so bringing it back down under the netting makes another part of the plant higher than it was before. it will then grow more and that my friend, it how you scrog bitches properly.

D

DoubleDDsNuggs

holy hell! how long did you veg that for? looks amazing and exactly what I was talking about.

apparently. hahaha! I'm watching your grow for the outdoor contest ya know. I wanna see those strains perform.
