hush's Kush x NL grow show - LED - 2x2 tent

Time for my next journal! Next up in the DR60 is Kush x Northern Lights by Peak Seeds BC. I am starting with 12 seeds, all of which successfully germinated. I've planted them in coco/perlite in 5" square pots.

I have replaced the 400w HID with this LED rig by California Lightworks, the Solar Flare 220. This is the full spectrum model. They report that this model uses 165 actual watts, so I'm interested in finding out how well this thing works. It's all 5w emitters, which is what sold me on it, for the price. It's suspended a couple of feet above the seedlings for now, and I'll adjust it closer as soon as the plants grow a little more.

Here we go!

I'm hoping that one of these plants will end up in my mother cabinet eventually.

Gonna sit in for this one too! As I had to scale back for reasons and heat was going to be a factor in my spot. So I ended up with a similar set up. I have never ran a LED what's the temps like in there? Does it heat it up anything like your 400 would? I'm going to try and put the tent in a walk in closet.
You have been 100% on your peak seed germ rate, right? Gonna be a good show.. Can't wait to see how these things do under your led. Good luck!

So far the heat has been negligible. The wattage is also much less. But I haven't actually measured temps yet. One thing is for sure though... The ambient temperature inside the closet is now noticeably cooler, when I just walk in there. It used to be a bit warmer with hot air coming out of the tent, and warmth coming from the ballast. But when I walk in there now, there's no temperature difference from the rest of the house. I'll start monitoring temperature tonight.

Yes I have had 100% germination with all of my Peak seeds so far.

I always keep at least one plant of the kushxnl in my garden. I really like the smoke and its a nice producer as well but man does she smell in flower! Good luck with the grow!

The temperature seems to have stabilized at 78.8 degrees. So that's only a few degrees warmer than the ambient temp in my house. It's definitely cooler in here now with this LED fixture. I sure hope it performs like the 400 did.

The fan on this thing is quieter than my "silent" computer. It's barely noticeable when it's the only electrical device in the room that's on. But in my setup it is entirely drowned out by the fans exhausting the tent and the closet.

Hi, how do you like your leds so far?... I´ve been itching to swap my CFL´s for a good LED pannel, but where I live they are SOOOOO expensive.....

they have to be insanely good for me to put down the cash! ....

So far I like them because my first run with the cheap UFO gave me almost a gram per watt. So immediately I feel like they are worth it. I'm expecting this light to give me more than a gram per watt. :D

Remember, with LEDs, provided you buy a good quality one anyway, you will no longer have to replace light bulbs. That has to count for something. Once you spend the money, you have 5, maybe 10 years of never buying anything else except for nutrient and electricity.

Have been looking at this light, will be interesting to see what it will do for you. I like the made in USA aspect.

I have limited headspace and wonder if you can put this as close as 1 foot away from the tops of plants?

That 1st seedling shot I was worried they were too leggy, but looks like they've stabilized nicely. :)

Best wishes for a successful grow!

I hear ya, I agree too. The "problem" with Peak's seeds is that they germinate so fast that it's easy to miss the mark! They stretched upward like that while I was sleeping, overnight. But yeah, they fixed themselves. :tiphat:
