Well here we are on my 3rd run with the awesome MARS2 1200w LED.

Still in the 1m tent, coco in root pruning pots and feed is H&G scheme with CX Superior Potash and HeadMasta.

Plants this time are Karma train and the Bilbao cut of Critical Mass.

Not a big fan on the structure of the Crit Mass. Very vine like and has not much strength to her small stems. She is a stinker tho. In veg she stinks. Like a good afghani should.

Both cuts are fast and I expect to pull them around 63 days.

All 4 plants ( two of each ) wee vegged for around 3 weeks under 250w mhal and then on day 1 of 12/12 I introduced the Led at a height of 5 ft above canopy. Over the first week I lowered the height to 3ft. No adverse led problems.

Now the canopy is around 65cm below led.

Oh yeah, time to get this party started :lurk: I'm in this for the long haul mate, they look very good for their age and their smells just keep on getting better.

Peace,

I do think the led produces slightly more resin than under hps / plasma. Infact I'm pretty certain you can control the amount. The closer the led is to the canopy the more resin it seems to produce but greatly hurts the yield. So it's a case of dialing in the led distance for strain / resin / yield return.

Very interesting??? I'm going to have to give one of these a good old go as I grow for quality first yield second.

I'm currently using the pro 600 combo but with the new daylight system from Phillips the D-Pallion. It outputs virtually double the umols of the LEP with 315w instead of 300 for the plasma.

The thing is crazy bright, as bright as my pro 1000 de that I use in my GQ150. My next grow will contain these lights only and in combination with the agro bulb for flowering. I'm planning on putting 4 of these in a 240 tent and replacing the pro 1000 with 2.

Now that you've mentioned the increase in resin quality I'm going to have to get the mars too lol

No if you put the led too close you end up fryin the plants. The 1200w led is so intense you can't use it on young plants. If you do you need a good 5-6ft above canopy.

I was thinking about them epaps. What sort of heat do they put out? I'm thinking of running 2 mar 2 900w LEDs with 2 epaps either side.

And whilst they do indeed put out more par per incoming wattage, they can't touch the plasma for par from outgoing light wattage. You must not forget the plasma whilst at 300w only puts 180w to the plasma bulb. It uses 120w for the magnetron. But in coming watt comparisons the epaps do have the plasmas beat. Just a shame they don't market the fact correctly.

Nice strains herb, LED's.... A godsend in this weather but what do they yield like? In terms of gpw what kind of return do you get?

BTW, can't you get the LED closer for the last week when they've done the majority of bulking for maximum resin coverage?

Never realised those LED's run that hot.

Should have paid more attention to the pic lol after seeing the set up that panel matches the tent perfectly. Looks a nice piece of kit that mars too.

About the same as a 250 in terms of heat out put but because of the design of the reflector its distributed in a way that it points it away from the canopy. The spread is fantastic too. There's a grow report somewhere on here (you might have already seen it?) that shows a side by side comparing a 600w hps and the dpap. The dpap had the same growth rate in every department but with improved structure and health. In that picture it demonstrates how even the canopy and growth of the plants with just a small reflector of this size. I haven't manage to do a proper veg test yet because I had to wait for it to arrive so was implemented late but next round I'll have a few more to play with so I'll see what happens.

I think these new Phillips lights are definitely the future as they seem to offer the best of both worlds but with more efficiency. From some of the reports I've seen me trying to implement 4 into a 240 is overkill as 2 would be more than enough. Still though I like the idea of 4 lol

I was thinking of the epaps after seeing this reflector design in action much better than the gavita in my opinion but this dpap is is just on another level.

Electric Weed

Missed this until now! Looking Fab Herb :) yea wonder if now the Roots are well established
there would be any benefit in lowering the light like you would a hid?(to increase bud size) Personally tho with the extra light spectrums the mars2 has i think that might be Psycological(?)
Mars2 is cool EVEN COOLER now i see the police didnt take mine :D
They are expensive!
Ktf' my 1200w Mars2 uses 540w!

@theherbalizor is the mars2 light the same unit as as a previous grow of yours when you used 2 led units and your lep?

also i understand those lights are from china so did you or know of anyone getting hit with import duty on those lights?

thanks fella.

Thanks. Yes these LEDs make summer growing a doddle.

They yield really well. My last run was pure chem d, 4 plants. 17oz plus 2 oz of shwag for oiling. Not bad for 530 w draw.

The LEDs don't run hot. You could easily let the plants touch the unit as the only heat is convective. It's the actual light intensity that seems to cause the plants problems.

And thanks for the info on the dpaps. I'm very tempted to give these a try. But I highly doubt I could get one 315w dpaps to return me 25 +oz that I can get from a 600w gavita pro. 2 DPaps however and we might be rocking.

Glad the plod didn't take your mars. I may try lowering the led fixture but I'll do this on strains I know well, for now I'll stick with the 60cm proximity.

And where you gone now bro!

Hi mate,

I haven't used led and plasma together. I use my plasma with my 2 gavita pro 600s.

And for once I never got hit with a customs charge!

Right on with the show.

Plants day 29

All going well, the crit mass is slower than the karma train, wasn't expecting that. But both are nice and fast growers.

Not a massive stink yet, but the karma train has a sickly sweet smell right now. HInts of cherry.
