I'd start over and small. Let it pay for itself and upgrades.

Maybe easier and cheaper than trying to fight with what you have?

Hey man - hope the lil one isn't making you bang your head around more lol

Hi

'sbeen a few days, had a few minutes so I thought I'd share.

The SWT is looking much better since her transplant outta the container in which she sat, into a new container with old medium freshly mixed with fluffersters. Veg is chugging along, will be ready for shore for this next run.

For what it's worth (and the answer is probably "just your ego, silver"), I wanted to quickly address the snags lately, what I believe to be their causes, and their resolutions. Causes is probably the most important, I'm fingerin'.

The problems I've been having lately have been confined to exactly three containers. Not coincidentally, they're the same containers I've been running for 2-3 runs now. I was taking a stab at the "no-till" approach (which which I agree, in concept, but more on that) in these containers. No churning of the dirt after each run - just dig/yank out the main root chunk and plug right back in with a freshie.

The SWT got the benefit of re-potting and re-freshening with nice, fluffy, aerated medium. Since that, she's looking like the oughtta be (though still on the mend). :)

My gut tells me that the Nightmare Diesel & Gorilla Glue stunted as a result of compacted soil.

Before the no-till guys start throwing things at me, it's worth pointing out that I think the dirt I went into no-till with wasn't as fluffy as it ought'a been.

Symptoms seemed to start as a mag deficiency, and then progressed to what I thought might be a P deficiency, and then WTFISGOINGON

Anyway. Probably old news to a lot of you, but thought I'd share the experience. I'm looking forward to the next run, with freshly flurffed serl. I expect local programming to get back to its ass-kickin' ways.

After that, we'll see. I got some other stuff pickin' at my brain, if for no other reason than the challenge. :D

(Also, along with my time, the ability to get decent photos seems to have wandered) To follow soon enough..!

I think youre right on. Been awhile since visiting the no-till threads, but seems to me the bigger the pot the better the results for no-till. I could be completely wrong - wouldn't be a first.

Have you considered doing one big bed? Did you layer in mulches/leaf litter/castings etc? What about companion/fixing plants? I remember seeing clover for N fixing, for example. Seem to recall gathering soil/litter samples from multiple habitats for a wide array of microbes. Pine forest, deciduous, swamp soils will have different buggies. Probably some different stuff on islands too.

I guess long term aeration - or flufferiness - is the tricky part. Worms, sure, but is that enough? If I were to try it, I think I might include lava rocks or something similar of high porosity that wont break down. Possibly putting in a 2-3" layer at the bottom. I don't know - Im probably over thinking something that I really don't know about.

I think Im getting the knack of this being unhelpfully helpful.

Larger containers - The containers I was using were two 10 gals and a 20 gal smart pot. (I think they were 10s? Maybe 7s?). I did not do any "layering" of any media in the container - just filled it up with dirt. :)

I've thought about one large bed, but I like the portability that individual containers offer. But no doubt, I think the no-till approach is definitely better suited for large bed-style containers.

In re: a sort of cover crop [of clover, say] along with the reefer, I've not tried it, though I don't think that would've prevented the compaction.

I think the difference vs. a no-till approach in, say, a garden bed outside, is that the garden has the benefit of being outside, with a whole smorgasbord of critters living on and in the soil, tunneling, doing all of their critter-life-stuff that helps to keep things "churned" down there.

"So put some worms in your containers, dummy!" I've considered this, and still may, but I don't think that would've solved the issues. I'm not even sure it would've prevented the issue had I had wormies in there on day 1, but hey. :dunno:

Again, I don't want to be misunderstood on the no-till thing. I'm fairly certain that the medium I started to not-till wasn't "loose" enough."

Anyway - the Sweet Tooth is hulking up, and the Chemmy Jones [that have never been in any not-tilled container] are going fucking bananas. A reminder that the dirt I've been using ain't so broke, just the approach with the dirt on those few containers.

Most. Appropriately. Titled. Thread. EVAR.

Everyone finishing up, nothing to get too jazzed about, with the exception of an empty room and a fresh start :huggg:

Next run will be a Sweet Tooth #3, a couple Chemmy Jones, and a BSC courtesy of 40Amps, roundabout willie styl-ee.

Probably gonna pull down these sore lookin' broads in the next week or two. Would like to let 'em ride, but gonna have a house full'a (FULL'a) peeps for my little meathead's 1st birthday, so I'd prefer no irie stank for the squares.

At this point, w these broads, another week or two is like lipstick to the pig, I s'pose anyoldway

It's ok on the package - I've not had much herb to fill the jar with anyway

Stellar deal on the new gig! Very happy to hear - are you settled in new digs yet? Holy grossness that's a lot of newness at once, with a beebbee

 It's a vicious cycle, something like this:

Skosh time for gardening --> sort of loss of interest --> less effort put forth in caring --> plants get neglected --> sort of loss of interest --> skosh time for gardening

Lather, rinse, repeat

This flowering batch is the crummiest crop I've had in a long time, since taking shit right from coco and flipping it in soil

The medium is mucho compacted, possibly out of balance, but mucho defo compacted -- all my flowering broads mega stunted.

I've been managing some mites for the past few weeks -- I think I had a stowaway on a cut long back, and I never fully eradicated 'em. (In fact I'm sure I unsafe sex'd on a couple occasions, sorry YKWYA)

So it's been Azamax and Spinosad at the ready.

Anyway, the fucks ain't gone. No webbing, but more stippling on the leaves than I'd like to see. Makes me feel kinda sleezy actually. Yada yada yada now I'm too close to harvest to bomb.

As for the veggin' broads, they'll need some special attention before they get flipped. The Sweet Tooth took the f off after I repotted it into some pillowy mix, and now she's yellowing out a little HAAA

I think she's had her blumats a wee tight, dried out a little, .. And then there's the Chemmy JOnes and BSC that I fried with some unmixed azamax solution, now on the mend..

It's a rough time to be a plant in my garden, I tell ya. On more than one occasion I've asked myself WTF am I doing, if all the time I have is for halfassin', then maybe I don't have enough time at all :dunno:

Happy 1st, Little Meathead!

Taking care of yourself - I'm having some similar issues on the for real, can't f*cking keep a pound on me to save my life. Down abt 30 lbs in the past year, to an all-time low lately. ?? Apparently I'm not smoking enough to munch out enough to remedy etc.

Thanks Ler! Plants look fairly disheveled, at least per what my ego tells me. :dunno: (Note: When the ego comes, it complicates.)

Meh - I'm over it, whaddyagahndo? Chop 'em down & try again

Right on! I can't wait to go play in the dirt with our little dudeman.

Dispensaries in general are a drag. The convenience is great, and the "Holy shit I just bought a bag of weed at a real-live establishment and wasn't looking over my shoulder!" is neat, .. But .. Meh.

I was at one in AA a couple weeks back, and as I'm standing there looking at prices, I right away decided I'm just gonna get a couple grams, mostly for shits and giggles. And also because fuck paying for weed.

..I'm in there, taking my time, checking out the selections, .. This broad just walks in "I need an ounce of Ghost OG." I think they were $480

(I did end up with a nice high-CBD variety, Star Tonic, and a good sativa - Solar Eclipse was the sativa. I'm wondering if the Star Tonic is Sensi Star x Cannatonic?)

Anyway - novelty factor, yes. Convenience, yes. As a way of life, fuck that.

Sir this bounce castle smells like bbq sauce, beer n marijuana what happened??

I lost 30lbs since january but I didn't need it n was tired of luggin it around. Medibles kept me from eating crap n the weight just fell off. Gave up frito lay, mtn dew n fastfood as well. Learnin to take care of my arse i guess eh..

Pot shops are the same out here.. I'm there once a year in june n I always regret it. It was 48$ w/ taxfor 3g of what they called razzcough.. shit was gone in 8hrs. 350$ a week is a helluva habit.. It's only cool til they hit the total button lmao!!!
