Career possibilities in the world of legalized cannabis

Think how easily a disgruntled minimum wage worker could wreak havoc on a large grow just by introducing broad mites or some of the un-named scourges that are affecting growers now. It would be so easy to destroy an entire grow just by introducing pathogens.

That is one nice BUM! you have as an avatar...very nice indeed!

Sorry for the interruption, but I just had to say...Continue...continue.

Peace...B

why not to pay minimum

why not to pay minimum

Good point retro, only thing some LPs were so stupid (Tilray) as to Introduce the mites themselves by greedily buying up plants up to full maturity to pass off as weed they grew in their own facility, another point why not to pay minimum wage to folks they talk like Oprah about their jobs hence giving me the free ammo to out their stupidity.

The thing is, the people who are trying to hire growers at minimum wage don't know what spider mites are.

The people I've been working with were just horrified when I started talking about the extra safety measures we'd need to protect against industrial sabotage. The concept was completely foreign to them but that's how this business works. Folks used to screwing over their employees in other industries don't realize the kind of backlash they can get for it in this one. I'm glad I got in with good people but I get the feeling these MMPRs and some of the bigger legal ops in CO/WA are going to lose entire crops from disgruntled growers... and they're lucky at that. All it takes to tank one of these businesses is for a clipper to get pissed off and crap on his hands. Test results come back for coliform bacteria, local paper gets wind, business dead in 24 hours.

And that's not nearly as bad as what happens with the illegal ops. Gangs run the big ones around here. Nortenos and Aryans mostly these days. They're phasing out but local growers have always known to keep their heads down. You can't LIVE here and not know about it. Who ever said no one died from marijuana was full of it.

I, for one, want to be able to purchase a dab or two from the same establishment I'm buying pints of beer at. This better become an option in the legalized era!! Hops and buds go together like kool-aid and sugar.

Come to WA!

In my town they're opening a dab bar in the back of a local casino. I think they can sell drinks at the tables and dabs behind the red line. It might be medical only though. Can't wait till Fox News gets ahold of that one.

To the OP: I don't know much about Canada but all I can say is don't come to WA expecting work in the new industry without serious experience in alarms, security, PLCs, stuff like that. Recurring costs or extremely specialized products. Our unemployment's way up and the competition for work in general is ridiculous. Good friend of mine graduated with honors with a double degree in spanish and biology and looked for 6 months to find a job selling coffee at 3:30 am. She moved to Costa Rica partially because the job prospects were better. The bad economy here is probably what really pushed legalization through.

if they are *truly* healthy yes

a) truly healthy plants do not emit the frequency that attracts insects
b) truly healthy plants have a plant sap sugar and secondary metabolite concentration that is not fit to eat by insects.. insects are hankering for watery sap, like beer, because the hard stuff will kill them

absolutely-provided that there is other less healthy or otherwise more attractive food sources available
but in the absence of other food the mites wont starve themselves

Interesting concept: Abuse a plant or two as bug bait. Then take it outside and spray the crap out of it and wash it off. Treat it nice for a few days to get it back into shape, then abuse it again and repeat the process.

But the idea of encouraging the proliferation of bad bugs by feeding them makes me very very nervous.

What are your thoughts on getting involved in a career on the business side? Many of the newly established LP's have shoddy web design and marketing in my professional opinion. Will there be sales teams like many other organizations?

I would love to hear more conversation about the business backend of these large operations and potential opportunities that people may forsee.

If you're proficient in web design why not just do that as job, you ain't gonna get shit as a career from the LP's

Why do you think that? These are multi-million dollar businesses practically overnight. They will need sales, marketing, and design just as other big businesses do.

These are multi-million dollar businesses practically overnight. .

Multi million investment and amateur hour growing some of the shittiest weed around. They're ran by pump and dumpers and ex MMAR abusers. If you want to talk about ethics that in itself should keep you away but hey its your life.

I'd rather work for myself or a design company while building contact in the industry.
