NEGATIVE REPS

No doubt many of us have recieved negative reps in the past....I certainly have.....simply for giving an opinion.

Some people may not agree with what you say.....even though you're entitled to say it.

The current riots and looting in England have brought out many neg reps for simply stating an opinion.

Everyone is entitled to say what they think, be it evil or good.

I agree but look at it this way, I don't know anybody on this forum and I don't want to know anyone on this forum; no one knows me and I damn sure don't want anyone here to know jack shit about me, thus others' opinions are totally meaningless to me. Sorry if that offends anybody's little feelings, but it is what it is. I'm not here to make friends with you Skippy, I don't need a new little buddy so sorry Gilligan. The way I see it is if the feds ever did find a means of accessing accounts here, let's hope that never happens but hypothetically speaking if they did then who would they target first? The no nothing guy with loads of neg rep? Or the potential super grower with pos rep out the wazoo? This is a growing forum you know, and LE is not exactly a bastion of intelligence. This forum is total entertainment for me, nothing else; don't like this reincarnation? too bad. I rarely go to my IC page so chances are nil that I will ever see your comments, least not any time soon. I assure you I'm a big boy, folks on the internet cannot hurt my feelings or offend me or intimidate me or whatever in the hell you were hoping to accomplish, so if you just have an insatiable urge to pass out neg rep for whatever reasons, be sure to hit me up. I promise I'll repay you by loading you up with all the pos rep your feeble little ego can handle. To be honest, I laugh at the vast majority of what I read online, especially comments attached to neg rep on those rare occassions when I actually notice it. Namaste my brothers and sisters, and those confused beings in between.

I don't waste my time giving negative rep. I don't agree with some things people post, but I don't see it as a reason to give negative rep. Negative rep should be reserved for people that resort to personal attacks, or make derogatory statements to other members. Even then, I tend to stay out of it. If a thread starts getting nasty, I just bail on it. As for getting negative rep, I don't really care. It's your opinion, and that's ALL it is, an opinion. And we all know what opinions are like...everyone has one.

Sure but negative reps is really just an extension of everyone being entitled to say what they think. I mean if you express an opinion about someone in public and they take an exception to it or feel offended by it, they're liable to say something unkind or insulting in response. A negative rep point is really no different then that. It doesn't infringe on your right to say what you think but if you expect to say something someone doesn't like but then also expect them to not respond back some how then you're not respecting their right to have an opinion about what you just said.

It's best to just not even look at your rep points. I almost never look at them. They don't serve any real functional purpose and they don't give you access to anything you don't have access to so why worry about them?

Even with rep turned off you can still give and receive it. And read the messages. I save my neg rep for racists usually.

I just checked and it seems that people have indeed rated some of my posts. Guess I should start rating some of the more informative posts I see here. Don't think I would ever give negative rep, just refute whatever I disagreed with in a later post.

I never thought i would but some , in my eyes, very racist and aggressive comments made me use the negative rep button.
Of course that i´ve also received a few neg rep points jsut because stating my opinion but to be honest i´m a bit proud of these. Sometimes words must hurt in order to act

I've used it twice. I didn't like the grow misinformation being spread.

I've received a couple of nerps for being opinionated or sarcastic. I like the idea or responding with a pos rep. Shows you are bigger that they are.

I bet alot more neg rep has been dispensed since the "Did you find this post helpful option?" was added. Just a slip of the clicking finger when trying to quote or quick reply has been mentioned...

I've only given neg. rep. once; by mistake.
...And received neg. rep. in return, before I realized what I had done, lol.
I guess I just feel uncomfortable about 'giving' "negative karma"; it feels icky and counterintuitive...
It would have to be pretty egregious for me to hit the "negative" button, purposefully.
When I strongly disagree with something someone said and want to give my POV, I send "positive" rep. and share my feelings; and even that is rare.
99% of the time, it's to send encouragement, admiration and respect.

when someone posts bad info, especially with an authoritative tone, I sometimes deploy the negative rep.

it's my way of sayin fuck you, but more civilized like.

no, just kidding, really, I use it sparingly when I feel a post deserves that 0 outf 1, or doesn't deserve a 1 out of 1.

The only time I give neg rep, is when someone gives me neg rep. And after that, I shut them out with the IGNORE feature. No more fuss, no more muss.
