My 14k btu Mr.Slims' manual gave amounts of freon to be added for X amount over 25 but no mention of subtracting for less than 25'.
Maybe the size difference? :dunno:

I think its just an aspect of their machine. The 12k model manual does not require subtracts for less than 25'. But some brands do in fact require it. The Freidrich breeze come with a 25' charged line set. Its fixed to the head. Those seem very easy to install - but they are a two man job also imho.

Where are you guys purchasing the mini's from?

Gonna make a purchase this week, thinking about greendroplet or acwholesalers something.

Anyone have any experiences with online retailers or places to avoid? Im all ears :)

I was wondering, has anyone heard of Senville Air Conditioners?

I'm looking at their Senville Aura 24000BTU. It's priced at a very low price of 1600$ with delivery. And it is also a Dehumidifier and a heat pump, the only bad side about it is that it's no quick connect, someone would have to come and vacuum the lines.

Any feedback would be highly appreciated since I am fairly new to this.:peacock:

@the_gnome Thanks for the advice...ill be contemplateing for the next couple of days between the Senville mini split and the breez.

I spoke with contractors they say quick connects tend to have leak problems on the long run...decisions decisions

I,ll share my decision/experience once I make up my mind.

third coast has had 1 for at least a year now, i think he dropped a screwgun on the connect fitting and it started to leak a few weeks after he got it running, think its been gravy since.
if the cintractor thinks he may do the install he may try to sway you from the DIY breeze units.

just something to think on.. :smoke:

Are you guys pouring your own condenser pads when you diy or using the plastic or foam pads?

Wondering how well the plastic/foam ones hold up or if i should man up and pour.

I myself used 2 patio blocks. I'm pretty sure code in Fla calls for anchoring the condensing unit to a concrete pad though so those plastic pads won't cut it. Even if it's not code, I anchored mine. The condensing units are not that heavy and I've witness a gust of wind really shake mine.

Thats kinda what i was worrying about is our upcoming weather season. Nice TS or Hurricane come thru and put the condenser somewhere it shouldnt be.

I like the patio block idea, i was thinking something could be found at HD/Lowes that would be better than the plastic.

Actually dropping the drill on it had no effect at all. After I had a tech come out and check it out and give a clean bill of health I figured it out.

I had framed in the wall behind the unit and just bringing the wall 6 inches closer to the unit cut of airflow enough to cause it to freeze up.

Slid the pad and unit out six inches from the new wall and bingo, been running fine.

Oh yeah, for anyone wondering, a 10" fan/filter will not remove the heat the unit puts out. Fail... I need the heat in the winter to keep temps up in there but summer can be unbearable as it get to 110 if I don't open the garage door.

Think I may buy another unit for outside/summer use and this will be my winter unit.

So yeah, 14 months running no problems with the unit, just a little user error. Although now that I have a 420 friendly hvac tech I will consider Mitsu units.

thanks for clarifying what happend tc,
Ive been worried if the quick connect was that fragile, its not good.
Ive got my breeze head mounted,
lines run, just have to connect to the comp.
and plug er in.

hate to hear about the heat isssue in the garage
Im mounting mine inside a larger 3500sqft structure, hope fully the heat wont be as concentrated as in a garage.
its 90F in there anyways in the summer so the air movement from the compressor might
actually be an asset :)

Mine wasn't that bad last summer before I did the ceiling. I have a Farmtek 3000 cfm exhuast fan running up in the gable so before when it was open rafters it cleared the heat better.

Mine is only in a 350-400 sqft structure so you should be able to dissipate the heat better.
