Be very careful with those stripped screws... If they're stripped you run the risk of having a big accident (read: VERY BIG). I bought 10 of each clamp and I change them out whenever I see the stripping start.

how much is too tight. i think i am over tightening my screws but i want to make sure its sealed good. i have both the clamps with screws washers and bolts and also have some clamps that have one end connected and the other has a single twisting tightener.

If the gasket starts to bust out of the side of the spool , then u have overtightened.

@krunch or anyone else got any pics of the 5# unit? I am pretty certain I'm going to invest in one soon and would love to see some pics and hear some reviews. My 1/2# unit works great hoping it remains awesome as size gets larger.

Have any of you guys ran a sweet leaf v2 yet? I was wondering what you guys think of passive compared to the bhogart? I like the bhogart, but like the idea of dewaxing in the unit...

You could just freeze your tubes and butane in dry ice for partial dewaxing. If done quickly, you get some great results.

You'd just need to swap out the hoses to stainless braided

Denatured alchy and dry ice, get your butane to -70....

Barely pickup any waxes, if any...

..I've been using the 1# unit with 2" and 3" columns ..everything goes according to plan every time..

..I have access to 99.999% research grade, pure n-butane and propane ..any thoughts on how to go about charging the recovery tank with these 2 other tanks ..rather than charging the 'system' like I do with cans..? I have a very precise mail scale that handles that thing in it's empty - full range.

..if the appion does not like running dry ..and full vac on the guage where i'm at is close to -24hg ..would I stop my final recovery at -16 hg rather than to -22hg like in the sea level directions ..?

..any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Got a 5# unit on the way, was going to get a few different columns from glacier. Any other upgrades i should get for it? Im use to running a MKIII, excited to get a 12x12 bottom! Should make the small nug runs pretty quick.

Planning on running with storage tank in dry ice, freezing my columns overnight, probably throw the sight glass in to so theres less thermal shock. Im assuming the seals for the sight glass are viton so i ordered some PTFE seals for the sight glass and whole machine. Also got PTFE stainless braided hoses.

Kinda want to get a couple pieces from glacier and a long PTFE SS hose and make it so i can flood from the bottom then dump back down into the collection pot like i usually run the MKIII. should be pretty simple with a couple more ball valves and a tee here and there.

I've been doing some research on purchasing everything and building my own bhogart style extractor. I'm running into one issue. From what I see on glacier tanks website, their reducers to reduce the 6" collection pot don't have a tube hanging down in to clamp a coffee filter. Is this true or just the way the pictures look? Judging by the pictures of bhogarts unit, they aren't the welded end caps, so any info on this would be appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

They have what looks like a 1.5" x 6" sanitary spool with one end cut off.
A hole is drilled or cut in the lid, about 4" of the spool is pushed through the
hole and welded inside and out.

It's probably the hardest part of the do-it-yourself route.

Thanks for the quick reply Kcar!! Is your model one of the new designs with triclamp top and bottom of your collection chamber? I did see that they have lids with cutouts and weld in ferrules as an option, so that may be the route I have to go. The trick is finding a welder in my area that I trust enough. And just wondering if theres any reason to run ptfe seals over viton on your sight glass? Did I miss something along the pages where viton had issues?
