Does anyone know what the original growers are doing now ? are they still smoking lol. Loved reading your story big herb really well written. Did the original guys get rich from growing haze was it even about the money or just getting some good weed. Weird how they all knew each other small world.

Thanks bigherb:tiphat:! Yes, they are still both in my garden. THH is a lot faster, with bigger trichomes and a lot more compact buds, also she gives more yield. Seedsman haze is from a repro a friend of mine did some years ago and i kept few beans. She is very slow flowering with fluffy buds and tiny trichs. I must tell you that i like far more Seedsman haze in taste and effect than THH, but both are great!
ps: this is a little bud from TH haze :)

That's some beautiful Haze blan-k-flor.
I was wondering since you gave such a good description of the differences between TH Haze and Seedsman how does the OT Haze compare to the others.
From my experience with OTH crosses it has small thrichomes, tall plants, slow flowering, loose airy buds with woody, rotten onion smells. I have not grown Seedsman Haze but it seems to look more like the OTH.
So far my strongest plants have come from TH Haze crosses but I have not grown any pure haze varieties only crosses and all of them go 4-6 months flowering even though they are crosses.

Hola Randy:wave:! i haven´t grown pure OTH yet, only in crosses. This season i tried to germ some of them, from a friend repro, but didn´t sprout. Maybe next season... Best vibes bro:tiphat:!!

Beautiful plant, bnf! I love hazy sativas! Have you ever tried growing the Flying Dutchman haze? I still got a few seeds of those left, but I didn't find what I was looking for with the pips I did pop so I'm not so sure about the rest of the pack.

Hi bro! I had some beans of TFD version, arround 6 or 7 years ago. Very bad germ rate, only 2 from 10 sprouted but sadly i lost them because a security issue... they look a lot similar to Seedsman version, very thai looking, very thin leaves, a little more serrated and also very pale green. I heard some bad reports of more recent versions. Good luck with your beans bro:tiphat:!

I say go for it ,we all know it only takes one seed

Hope those NH x LP are getting a spot in the outdoor garden :tiphat:

There are several reports of Praise of older TFD Ohaze stock .One particulary impressive was a cat named DERAN who posted a Original Haze thread at MNS Forums . Yield was serious an incense was present an seems to be mentioned by a few .

Below is a quote from reeferman in direct response to me

Ive always wondered about his Haze bros Haze , I havnt found a single documented grow online ever .Im not into the BS (backround stories /personal beefs) but i think he has been st8 up with his information ,quite detailed i might add. Though im curious what Sams has to say about this as id bet the bank its in reference to him

Hello the haze bro's or pure haze is a tall lanky pure sativa it has huge spaces between the internodes and stretches in a huge way .
No I do not know the haze bro's this strain was given to me by a old timer in Rotterdam that owns a greenhouse who has maintained it for many years since the mid 80's .
The smell is pretty much like cats piss and sandle wood .
The strain has never been hybridized and really still has lots of vigor for being so inbred I really don't know many generations it was inbred in holland .
RM

Much respect to all those Haze Heads who have kept this thread alive

Big, you would love the smells I got coming off the RM Apple Pie I got going right now. Not cat pissy at all...wood, incense, light citrus smells are what I'm getting..very strong, imho, for a plant that is still in veg.

The LP x NH clones are outdoors already in 3 gallon pots and will be going in 20 gallon pots here soon. I hacked the head off the mother plant a few weeks back, and she's taken over my indoor room.

Thankfully, the apple pies will be outside soon...I think the tallest two females I got are right around 6' from tip to tail and I can't move my light up any higher...

Bottom line, I'm going to be doing some plant wrasslin this season, lol. It's gonna be a battle to keep them under 8' but I'm up for it.

I'll post some pics here of everything once I get the plants into their permanent spots outside.

Hi Big Herb i love your article its a great read. How old roughly would were all the main players at the time ?were they all the same age or were G and R.L a bit older ? I remember Happyhi saying he was taught by an older master. Cheers.

Hey Happy...hope you've been getting some waves. It's been hit and miss around here. I'll drive by the beach in the morning and it's blown out shit...then, I'll hear the next day that it glassed off just before dark.

Thankfully, Fall is right around the corner...summer sucks around here for surf...which I guess is good because I can spend more time with my plants!

You seem to be one of the few posters here on IC that has intimate knowledge of the Original California Haze. Best of luck to you on your current project. Any pics/descriptions of what you're doing would be much appreciated.

I didnt want to go too much off topic in the Cannabis DNA project thread .But post from Sams to Harry74 thought of Haze being mostly Thai started a convo which i found interesting

I brought most or all the O Haze seeds to the Netherlands, Nevil included. When you say Thai why is that?
I know that one of the Haze brothers used a few of my Thai and S Indian seeds with his Haze, but it was a minority. The other Haze Bro, grew my Thai and S Indian seeds but never used them to make Haze.
Why is it mostly Thai?
The Original Haze was three Columbian varieties, including Punto Rojos, and a magenta variety and a green variety. They were used to make the first O Haze. All Columbian.....
-SamS

Sams

I think the reason many have the thought haze is mostly Thai is because some of the Companies which Haze stock is derived from your work have suggested this such as Tom Hill and Nevil/MNS aswell as your old post of Haze being post of All of the S Indian and Thai crosses were toward the end of Haze production. Not only males were used for crosses.
Aswell there wasnt much precise info until my Article an your recent Haze related post of parental info, reguarding there timelines of which lines were used .Also as to what stock you worked an what you stock you gave to which companies

quoted from Raco

"This is what TomHill said almost 4 years ago:

"Most of the "Thai" i´ve tried in the last ten years or so was just kinda okay, not saying the goods aren´t out there, just that i haven´t been able to locate it,& i´ve turned over a few stones lookin. The closest i´ve come are selected phenos of the original haze from positronics.I´ve always thought that their haze was very heavy in thai genes, due mostly to a characteristic thai smell/flavor in a high percentage of them (+/-75%),a smell i remember from some excellent thai that some friends used to grow long ago.Although most of the reports say "mostly colombian/mexican & less south indian/thai",there´s a seemingly informed report by "Robert Clarke"(i wonder) that seems to go along with my guess of heavy in thai genes.
I bet if you grew out a few packets of the Original Haze from the Flying Dutchmen, you´d find what you´re looking for"

Below was in response to Sativa Grows asking

Hola Tom
What aromas/flavors flow from your Haze line?
Peace

Sativa Grows,
Man, it is very complex but I'll give it my best shot. Three complex components. A Thai-like lime citrus, an herb collection (rosemary, thyme etc), and a high school metal shop (metallic/oily). These 3 components are represented to varying degrees depending on phenotype - some are more herbal, some more citrus, some more metallic etc. -Tom

quotes from Nevil

To continue:-
What ever the legend behind the seeds that I got from Sam, It is my belief that the qualities in the Original Haze that we admire so much, come from Thai. I grew up in Western Australia and started smoking in the early 70's. Most of the Australian cannabis was descended from Thai and was grown in Queensland. Perth is as close to Thailand as it is to Queensland and W.A. got more than it's fair share of Imported Thai. I remember one batch was unparalleled and Haze A male's best progeny, reminded me of it. The guy was selling ounces of it for $30, but he had bags of what I now realise was loose resin, for $60. I wish that I had bought it.
Hence my desire to scour Australia for the best descendants of the old Thai imports to put back to the Haze.
N.

Well Bigherb, I wouldn't swear on a kilo of Haze Hash, that he told me that he grew them himself.
I seem to remember one batch had a number of years mixed together something like '66,'67,'68. A prominent ancestor was a thing called "Burning Bush". If Sam didn't grow burning bush then the person that did will be able to tell us more.
Everything useful was from before 1970. The one plant that came up from '70 batch, Omega, was at best 25% haze and didn't make the grade.
N

I didn't say the bag was labeled burning bush. Sam said something about burning bush being an ancestor of the Haze. If Sam is Knowsitall4sure then he didn't smoke Haze til '71.
If that's true, what would he know about seeds made by somebody else 2 years before he had even smoked the variety?
N

If Nevil's Stock was from burning bush stock than his thought would make sense .But the dates of his stock an parents comin from 69 would make it impossible for his stock to have Thai .Because you said you gave the Thai n S.indian to the Haze bros in 72 .I recall a post where you say you never gave Nevil seeds from 69 but he's says he recieved a bag labeled soo .This combination of post from different sources is where the confusion lies

It be very interesting to hear which stock you worked an how soo ? which stock you favored an which stock you passed to whom ? G 's Punto Rojo or Rl's PR x Thai/S.indi X's ?

I know if you wanted to share you would an it seems you give the most info when someone doesnt ask a question but rather makes a statement .But i didnt want to go off topic in your new thread ,soo i brought the convo to a more appropriate thread

Much Respect
