First Grow...(pics)

Hmmm... Thank you!

Hmmm... Thank you!

Dont make the switch 100% right away in bloom. The first week or 2 your plants will still grow and still can use the more blue spectrum during that time. Imo switch 1 bulb the first week, another the second, then the last 2 the third week. Personal opinion at least :)

Its trypp thanks for the advise. That sounds logical and makes lots of sense. That's what I'm gonna do.

Do you believe in sexing your plants? meaning once they get like 8-10 sets of real leaves switching them down to a 12/12 this way they will show their sex without question or do you think its better to wait it out and look for pre-flowers? The thing is I have limited space in my grow closet which is 2ft x 6ft x 7ft and I don't want to waste time, space, nutes, etc on males. What do you think?

If you have photoperiod plants definitely sex them as soon as you feel comfortable doing so, if you don't want any males. Autos you kind of have to wait out and see what happens, but they show gender fairly early (My trans siberian showed me her purrrty pre flowers at day 14 from seed, yet still grew like a weed before fully going into flower). But, you can sex your plants pretty early. 6-8 sets should be enough to do it.

Are you going to keep a mother plant? Definitely will make it to where you wont have to check gender off the clones ( you will only have to really pay attention to herming) and you wont lose as much time from sexing, which means bigger plants ever so slightly faster lol.

Perfect! all my plants are about at that stage and are ready for sexing. I have three different strains that I am growing together and I'm hoping to keep a mother plant from each one if I can. I have 3 Med-Man Silver Skunk BX1, 5- Hillbilly Kush, and one Bag Seed which is a sativa dominant strain that I don't know the genetics to. The sativa is a female that has already show her Pre-Flowers. Shes about 10-12" tall. The rest are indica dominant and are much shorter and bushier. I'm gonna sex them now then. This will allow me to toss the males and give all the remaining female the room and access they need to the light. Why should I waste space on males, I don't have any use for them now. Thanks for all the advise bro. It really helps. :tiphat:

Update- Pre-Flower Pics

Update- Pre-Flower Pics

Hey All I just wanted to share some new pics that I took. This time I was able to get some great pictures of the Pre-Flowers on the Sativa. Also Last night was the first night that I switched the lights to a 12/12 cycle. So I would call this Day 1 of sexing or flowering which ever you prefer. But a question that I have is once the plants show their sex do I continue on and let them flower or do I revert them back to veg and let them grow? I have heard that switching them to a 12/12 and then switching them right back isn't good for the plants; anyone with any good advise?

New Social Group!

New Social Group!

Hey all I don't know how many of you belong to a social group here on ICMag but I was searching for one to share some thoughts and ideas and realized that they have a USA growers section but there are basically no social groups for us American Growers to talk, unite, share our work, knowledge and experiences. SO...... I created a new social group called American Growers. The tide is beginning to turn here in the USA and we need to make sure it stays that way. One state at a time is going medical then recreational and the growers of the USA need to make sure that we do what we can to push and influence what we believe in and what we feel is right! The Freedom to Grow Marijuana as we please. So everyone from the USA or Americas join up and support the cause.

Growing what mother nature offers is our Right not just a choice! :scripture: Spread the Word!

Switching back you are fine, you should only be in 12/12 long enough to get pre-flowers. Just make sure they don't start going into full bloom. (remember the first 1-2 weeks your plant is making the switch, and is neither in full bloom nor full veg). Thanks for the group invite, lets get it going :p

1-2 weeks you say? Ok that's what I'll do then. I'll look for the pre-flowers then I should switch them back and allow them to grow nice and bushy yeah?

Is it possible?

Is it possible?

Yeah switch back as soon as you are confident with the sexing.

Hey do you think it's possible to flower them while their small? What I mean is I have 12 plants in a 2x6x7ft grow closet. If they all get grow to 3ft tall and then I flower them they be bursting out of the closet with flowers sticking to everything. I'd like to try to flower them smaller and yes I know that the yield will be far less than if I grew them out but until I can buy a grow tent or find/create a larger space i'd like to be able to flower them and maintain a reasonable grow area. I don't want them to be smooched together all inter-tangled and branches breaking. Whatcha think? :chin:

Thank you

Thank you

Easy; Do a sog grow. Sea of Green. It focuses on faster yields with smaller plants. Basically, as many plants as you want in a small area, veg maybe a week or 2, then switch.

Here is a great thread to get started: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=69713&page=2

Skip to post 18 and read from there for a lot of the info on how to do well :^)

Thanks Bro! I'm gonna read it. That is exactly what I was looking for. :tiphat:

Picture Update - Day 3

Picture Update - Day 3

Today is day 3 after switching my lights to the 12/12 cycle for sexing. Its amazing how much they have grown just in a few days. It seems as if they have doubled in size and have bushed up. I am excited to see how many are actually females. Here's some pictures that I took this morning.

Update: Males in the mist.....

Update: Males in the mist.....

So today I after checking the group I found a certain male amongst the group. I removed him. I also see another that I think is a male and in a day or so will be sure then if so remove him too. The others aren't showing yet and I'm hoping its because they are females and are slower in showing their flowers. The single identifiable lady that I have is starting to bloom flowers all over. She is looking beautiful and flowers are starting to appear in every node and at the tip of every growth shoot. The crown is also growing flowers all around up to the main shoot. I'm hoping that I don't get all males from the others as that percentage would be very unbalanced. I started with 12 plants and now I know 1 is a female for sure, 1 is a male for sure and one is a suspected male. That would leave me with 10 plants one of which is a female for sure. I hope to see some pistils in the next coming days and lose the fear that I will be stuck with one flowering plant and no plants to make into a Mother. Also I just started some Skunk#1 from Sam the Skunkman because I want to have some seedlings in the mix just incase this group goes south.

Anyone have some advise on the situation? Am I being hasty?

What a lovely lady! Be sure to give her lots of love.

Thank you. I actually am excited as this is my first time ever flowering a plant. I have grown plants through veg before but never to the end because something has always gotten in the way. So this time I'm doing it right. She's starting to smell a lot more now too I noticed. I wonder if it will get a lot worse? I don't have a air scrubber and she's in my closet. I do keep my two windows open in my room and a exhaust fan blowing and Its the third floor so there's no one outside that high to smell it but just for indoor safety etc. Maybe I'll get some incense or room scents or something. What do you think?
