got some buds a while back when i first started selling buds to smoke for free.. we smoked about an oz a day.. by day 6 or 7 of having this new batch of nugs.. the entire batch turned WHITE.. powdery mildew.. i think they steamed the buds to hide the powdery mildew until they sold it .. but either way. i got mad sick from those buds.. so i started growing.. now i smoke free.. and sell just enough buds to pay for electric and nutes and shit. but i only hook up my close friends.. no1 else actually respects GOOD WEED.. and properly FLUSHED. And Cured nugs.. so i keep my circle medicated and thats it!

I grew some weed in the 70's

We did not know about sexing plants until 78.

Remember the Phototron? I still have one that works.

In the 80's I cut my hair and got a job and stopped growing.

Since Medical marijuana came to California, I have gotten back into it.

I grow to get great weed and I like growing :tiphat:

Discovered good weed in the early 90s, after a few years of bricked seedy, ammonia and soap smelling stuff. Very quickly realized that I either had to deal (no thanks) or learn to grow. Being a nerd, I read the books and followed the instructions closely. Was blown away at how well it worked out. Everyone I knew said I had the best stuff they had ever had, and I had to fake scarcity when the town was "dry". "Yeah, I know, it's terrible... but hey, I have one last little tiny nug, wanna smoke?"

Couple decades later, here we are. I am pleased to see these times changing, but hate how they have changed. I have no interest in dispensary pet strains or the kushification of the product. No interest in dabs or wax. I just grow good bud, mostly optimized heirlooms, and hyper-organic. I taste stuff that friends have from time to time, and always say thanks and then go back to my own.

It's really easy to supply one's own family. I used to have dreams of it being a living, but like everything else, once it is business, it is totally ruined. I will never do that to my herb, which is why I am not at all interested in this new "industry".

Even if it ends up costing more to grow my own, I will do it as long as I am able. Would be nice to do so without legal hassle or worry, but if wishes was fishes...

Love growing what I can consume. Berries, veggies, fruit....and yes, long time grower of our friend, cannabis.

In my earlier years, it was to be high, or helped the trudging of backpacking in the SW/NW....miles of trails, summit peaks, mountain meadows. It was a nice reward (xc skiing, too!) during the trek, etc.

Now, I've watched the metamorphosis of medicinal the last 10 yrs.....seeing how it has helped myself and countless others.

It's a gorgeous plant to grow...like Jhhnn mentioned...a beautiful plant.

In my first post here, I wrote: I cut my association with weed back in the '80's chasing career and family and have recently returned at the behest of a friend struggling with MS and its treatments.

Growing this plant has been the most rewarding of experiences for me.
I have grown a lot of exotic plants and manage a productive food lot each summer but nothing comes close to the joy it gives me.
Joy.
Can't find a better word.

I try to grow everything I consume myself. Okay, of course, it is quite impossible to grow everything, but marihuana growing was something that I just always knew I wanted to do. This is my special plant. This is my good morning pill, this is my good night pill. I need to know where it comes from, and the satisfaction of smoking some that I've grown myself in the greatest. I come home after a long day at work, pull out my pipe, say, the one I love from smokewire, I light it up and then all the worries of the world just fade away. This is something I look forward to pretty much every day. :)

1. I just love to grow
2. I hate purchasing on black market
3. I love the challenge of setting up stealth cabinets
4. Now that Colo passed a64 I can really enjoy having a small stealth grow and don't have to worry constantly bout the man coming to my door
5. I just love to grow
6. Have been doing it off and on since the early eighties and it is the activity that most calms me down from the stress I find myself under. I can just let it all evaporate away in bright lights ,shades of green and a couple puffs of vapor.

Here's my deal. When I was a teenager I noticed that other dudes would brag about " I drank 12 to 24 beers today to get my needed buzz. They were binge drunks. I on the other hand, along with some friends would smoke some Mexi and drink maybe 4 or 6 beers and be pleasantly buzzed, not fall down drunk. I kept this approach all through high school, college and my adult life. When I became upset about paying $400 an ounce for cannabis and really pissed at the Mexican cartel for it's violent behavior, I promised myself I would never again buy their shit and grow my own. 35 years ago I did sprout one thai stick seed that grew to 5 feet as a female, then the fucker hermied on me. 7 years ago came the exposure to this site and the other flaming one I left to learn how to grow and with what equipment/supplies. I have not looked back and will never stop as long as I'm alive. Hell, I have lived long enough to see Peter Tosh's song come true in CO and WA. Never thought it would happen in my lifetime with our fucked up political/DEA bullshit. My jars are full and curing with stuff that beats the hell out of the commercial ganja around my parts. Peace and respect to all tokers and growers.

Hello all,

To have stash when ever I want without the need to pay somebody for it.

Since I started growing my own...not a dime has gone to any grower or dealer. Phuque them, I don't need them.

That is the best reason ever.

Agreed, for the most part. OTOH, having retail weed in CO allows me to try different varieties before I go to the trouble to grow them. I'll be 65 next month, and there aren't enough years left to grow everything I'd like, certainly not 6 plants at a time.

I bought some in January, just to be a part of it, to show my support, to show that I was there. I've since bought some SLH, and I intend to sample Golden Goat & a few others over time.

The SLH from Pink House was the only one that came close to the best of what I've grown. OTOH, I didn't really care for the taste.

I support the idea of retail weed, however, as an integral & necessary part of legalization. It's great, particularly for casual tokers & tourists, just so long as I can grow my own in peace as an alternative.

Still at large...
for me its not just the end results

for me its not just the end results

but i would be lying if i didnt say when the results of all that time and effort are good, its great. It also therapeutic not just smoking but growing it, helps with stress in both ways. For me being a 3rd generation grower in the family make me feel good keepin it a going.....an for its medical ben'ies.

also its great socially, tell me who going to pass one a round and then want to punch one another in the head..IMO in truth alot more people should partake in growing/smoking, again IMO

I like the growing, but I really like trying new techniques and playing with toys and at one time automation and such. And playing with concentrate techniques requires starting material. It makes me feel like the scientist that I once thought I would be.
It's not about money or availability, but I don't miss drug deals at all. And even though I have never sold any pot, I do get favors in return for helping out my close circle of friends.
