Yes, work with different people for each market segment...or grow ultra boutique shit indoor and commersh out side and then hold the ultra quality as ransom over the same buyer so they clean out your work to get to the better stuff...but the latter strategy hasn't worked so well for the last few years since big buyers have unprecedented access to material in today's market.

This for sure still works.

using the same buyer for different grades of product has lead to problems for me in the past lol they like the savings on the cheep stuff but they dont usually pass them on down the line . think im gonna try to set 1 price per lb this year and stick to it for all my strains and crops.
This has happened to me, and most times than not it's like giving a mouse a cookie. I've learned when they keep wanting more of a hookup, I'll go to someone else for a while. Usually after being dry of your shit for a while, they will hit you back up asking for those 'deals'.

i'm having the same problem with different tiers of product and getting the market to see the reasons for tiered pricing.

in the supermarkets they can see the different cuts of beef and after a few attempts trying to eat the cheaper grades understand the reasons for pricing differences. there are also different grades of cattle beef product; usda prime, usda choice, house choice, commercial.

^^ 4 grades of beef and then over 10 grades of cuts off a cow. 40 options.

consider the variance of the trim job quality, bag appeal, potency, different highs and desirability of high effects, tolerance build up, duration of high, who knows what else..... you also got the price mechanisms for weight; gram,1/4,1/2,egg, qp, 1/2 elbo,#'s, multiple #'s, frequency buyer reups, etc. risk also needs to be calculated in as well as cost to produce product and hassle factors.

the customers need to be educated.

the dealers buy the cheapest that they can make the most money on in most cases.

Drue Bleam , it may work but on a tiny scale.

Serious buyers will laugh at you and move on to the next guy.

If I need to have a 'serious buyer', I have a broker that deals with 'serious weight', whatever the cut off point for 'serious' is... If I want to get top dollar in state, I go to my people. Wether I have 9 or 900, I won't have a problem getting rid of them, just depends on which people I want to work with. The quote last year from my buyer was that my herb was better than everything else they had got out of Sonoma all season. :peacock:

Now, I’m not gonna say you’ll die from smoking cannabis that has been grown improperly, but we really don’t know what the long-term affects are. Cannabis does have potent anti-cancer properties, but do you trust that they’re potent enough to protect you against what could potentially be in there? For instance: PG&E (Nor-Cal’s version of FPL, or Con Edison) uses a chemical called paclobutrazol to inhibit vertical growth in trees. It is in no way intended to be used in plants that are being consumed by humans. But, it can be found in two commonly used additives: Phosphaload, and Bush Master. Using these compounds improperly in weeks four to seven of the growth cycle causes the flowers to become denser, harder, and heavier. So, for the unethical grower adding dangerous chemical compounds means more money. And for the careless dispensary, or dude on the block, there’s no way to know that the grower has done this. You tryin' to smoke paclobutrazol? I’m not.

It's obvious to me you have to spend some more time in this industry. Best of luck to you. There are MANY lessons still left to learn. :tiphat:

Those were the days...I bet he even said Thank you afterwards!

Now it's "When's the next load ready?"

Yeah, Dude used to take my Chemdog to Mexico on His fishing trips - but now His Culo moved permanently down to Mexico (Good on 'im). His large daughters have ran the retail outlet for years now, only buying from their "BoyToy of the Week." As long as He is willing to give his indoor away for 2200.

They do not care about quality at all anymore. And THAT is in the Em Tri.. Deplorable.
Local NorCal dispos ought to have the best flowers on Earth. But, they don't bother.
There is one down the highway in "The Village" that truly DOES represent quality.

Any of you misers still thinking drought forcast will spell higher od prices this season or nah?? Im not far enough north to really see any of the action, pot growers are still a hermit niche where im from.. also been getting decent rain so not sure if it will be an issue still?

Markets are getting bored of blue dream.

^^ ditto.

look at all the indoor strains and what we got for od runs? BLUEDREAM.

i've been posting on the landrace threads the absence of commercial od strains.

customer's desires (pronounced cash crop):

bright green
frosty and/or colorful
bag smell
bud structure
potency

customers at the street level don't know jack squat about the special high effects available from landrace sativas.

they basically want dirt cheap quality hydro looking buds.

outdoors you can grow hydro looking buds. with outdoor runs in weight you can offer lower prices than the cost to produce quality indoor hydro.

outdoor strains with indoor hydro look has a tremendous future.

once growers can go direct to customers the middleman fees will be split between the growers and customers. this day is approaching and already somewhat in place in more canna progressive areas.

I think ultimately you might see the other issue later this year if El Nino kicks in like some legitimate research groups are saying...too much rain at harvest. If El Nino does happen we'll probably see early and heavy rains causing mold and rot issues in the field. It happened in Cali a few years back, maybe not El Nino but an early/wet finish to the season, and significant losses in the field. Only growers who were really on their game got away relatively unscathed.

Gonna visit an old friend in the hills this week and get his take on what he thinks the dry season will bring for growers.

I can tell you in mendo water will be an issue still, both a current lack there of, as well as potential El Niño. While we have had significant rain, ground water levels are still low and the rivers still have their dams up from last summer and will be off limits for water delivery trucks, there will be some municipal water up for delivery though not much. I doubt prices will go up, probly stay about the same, but it definitely won't be 'big' year.
