lol, chloe my friend, i see you haven't been paying enough attention all this time ;]

the sog was a failure because 11 plants out of 12 were taken from moms who hermied while vegged in the mother chamber. you can imagine i was quite surprised when discovered 11 males and 1 female after the flip...

...so i ditched all the males and only that lone female made it till the end. she was pinned with wires to other leftover containers full of medium, which may have fooled you. it indeed looked almost as if each bud was a separate tiny plant.

:shucks:

sorry I missed that!! That one for 10 g came out great though. Imagine if they had all been female....

^ yeah, it is a real shame that 11 were masculine.

hehe, thanks a lot, cheese and 5th. i like them too :]

let me share this brand new rabbit contraption, an automated dry sift tumbler.

remember i recently showed a dry sift box? it is all nice and funky but not efficient enough.
well, at least not if you need to process material from your last 4 grows... including all trim and foliage.

so i browsed the cannabis concentrates section here for a little while, which inspired me to make this:

picture.php

the thing is very simple, only required some precise measurements to make sure all does fit and actually does turn, lol.

first things first.
the drum is made from an empty coffee can. i chose a pressed cardboard tube which allowed for easy hole cutting.
3 holes were cut and covered with a silk screen mesh, glued to all edges. i used 60 mesh which stands for hole size of ca. 240 micron.

the heart of the tumbler is its motor.
it is a regular spare microwave saucer drive. it is powered with 230 current, consumes only a few Watts and rotates at 4 RPM:

below the drum i placed a mirror to catch the goodies.
let me thank chloemobile here, who suggested this solution. indeed, it makes the easiest way of collecting the kief!

that's it, folks. simple yet efficient :]

now, see below the kief i collected merely from my saved foliage and trim from past grows. it was bone dry and sealed in jars, waiting for this exact moment to reveal the tiny treasures.

otherwise i would have cooked that material or diluted in alcohol or something.
but i just cannot express how much time and hassle this new technique now saves me.

and to think how much stuff rabbit will be able to collect from the real frosty nuggets!

Wow rabbit very nice!!! I just bought a dry sift box and now I see this and I'm like da fuq? I feel like I just bought a pager when cell phones exist. Who has time to card sift?! Can't commend enough - love when I see stuff like this.

Have you ever read the book Watership Downs? It's a good rabbit based book ( main characters are rabbits in a rabbit society).

well, you can still upgrade :]

construction of this tumbler cost me peanuts but it did require several hours of work. most of that was devoted to thinking /lol/ and figuring out how to approach the target with as little means as possible and as much precision as possible.
lion part of the real build was taken by drum construction, mostly for the attempt to avoid sagging of the mesh when glued.
right now i don't think i needed all this precision because the stash thrown inside is not heavy enough to impact the mesh in any way.

so after learning my part during the build, i'd say it could only take like 2 evenings to make (+ drying time of the glue).

btw, most of the folks who showcase their tumblers in the concentrates forum, they use rotisserie motors.
i acquired one too but it is so loud taht it will stay in the drawer. the microwave motor hardly makes any noise at all, i am amazed. :good:

if you need any advice on construction, just let me know

lol, rabbit society, sounds fun.
no, i haven't ever seen the book or read it. over here all we got in terms of rabbit characters is Alice in Wonderland. but i dig the cover! sort of shroomy stuff

KNOTS, got some hotmix issues, pop by my thread in Cannafornia..

Ill get pics up later but the tops of 2 are heavy curling down, N toxicity? Somethings up. Lots of threads I have read about similar issues are regarding blueberry strains, thinking these two ladies are the blue moonshine..

Also got one early finisher, almost twice as fat as the others.
