Thanks Bueno. I'm hoping it performs as well. Being the first time running a scrog, this should make for an interesting learning experience.

The containers I use are homemade 5 gallon self irrigated buckets. All I do is pour water into the pvc pipe which runs down into the bottom bucket. The bottom bucket has a hole about 3.75" from it's base. I pour until I get a little run off from the res and that's pretty much it. I used some spare 6" netpots I had sitting around and packed them full of perlite to use as the wick between the bottom and top bucket.

I mix all my fertilizers into my soil so it's pretty much a water only grow. I'm using a fairly large container to be sure the plants will have enough food for the entire cycle. So far, my first run with them went GREAT so I'm thinking this one will be better now that I'm implementing some canopy management.

Here's some info on them for you.

As for the growing media, I decided to go the organic route and I have to say, I love it! I got it from a member in the Organic Soil section.

The mix consists of:

1 part Home Made Leaf Mold
1 part Peat
1 part Perlite
1 part Vermiculite
1 part Home Made Worm Castings
1 part Home Made Compost

For each 7.5 Gallons (1 cuft) of mix
I mixed all ingredients for each mix together in equal volume and used

2 Cups of Food Mix:
Blood Meal (wanted to finish the bag but discontinuing its use)
Bone Meal (wanted to finish the bag but discontinuing its use)
Alfalfa Meal
Cotton Seed Meal

1.5 Cups of Fix It Mix:
Crab Meal
Kelp Meal

1 Cup of Mineral Mix:
Green Sand
Azomite
Oyster Shell
Gypsum
Dolomite (wanted to finish the bag but discontinuing its use)

This mix has been sitting in a huge container for months now. I've almost finished it up so hopefully warmer weather will come so I can sift the leaf mold and compost bins so I can make a new batch.

In the future, I plan on tweeking the mix and seeing what all I can get out of it. So far, the 5 gals seem to have more than enough for a grow so we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestions BlueGrassToker. I'm pretty sure I have a pack of those hooks somewhere on my workbench. I also have some larger fans, just need to see if they'll fit in the cab. Going to play around with the cab this weekend and see what I come up with.

Thanks for explaining all that for me. Thats a pretty cool setup. I might have to try that out with smaller buckets.

Organic is the way to grow!

Hey guys, any recommendations on specific bulbs you guys like? I know many of the big companies dont support HPS but is there a couple brands that you are using or prefer over generic bulbs?

Most people just buy what's cheapest and available. No big differences I don't think. I bought Phillips this go around. Had pretty good lumen numbers. Seems to be doing well. I usually only use the HPS for flower and LED in veg. I've have gone usually three go arounds before changing. Haven't counted so closely with my last three bulbs. I think I should, this time I will. Yield suffers after too many uses.

Looking great Keif and Dudin!! That SOG, Dudin, looks like it's going to be nice!!

Anytime Bueno. Since switching to this method of growing, I have a LOT more time to do other things lol. I just let the plants do their thing.

An update. It's been a little while and things are going better than ever. The plants have branched out really well and are starting to fill the screen. It's amazing how quick these plants grow!!

Now to the cab.

They are both coming along great! I'm excited to see how this thing turns out. The next pics I take, I'll make sure to get them with the HPS off.

Very nice scrogs so far Cobra super bushy healthy plants.

One more question for you, how tall is the inside of your flowering sections from floor to ceiling?

Kief, Thank you for the compliments. I'm quite impressed with the way these bulbs can grow plants. The more the merrier I say haha.

Thank Bueno. The inside of each flowering chamber is 23”L x 20”D x 48”H.

Much needed update for today, I decided to finally weigh the 12 plant sog I pulled a few weeks ago from the left side of the cab. It weighed out to 114.08g or 4 ounces. So, 4 ounces from the left side and 5 ounces from the right side...

9 ounces total!! I'm quite impressed with these 150w bulbs! Over half a pound was WAY more than I was ever expecting lol. I was thinking less than half that... These 150's definitely proved me wrong in a great way.

I think I failed to mention the genetics this round. They are all from seeds that I made a couple runs ago using clone only females from a buddy and the male used was from some Connoisseur Genetics Chemmy Jones regular seeds I popped.

Started 15 seeds this run, 5 different crosses, 3 of each and ended up with 6 females and 9 males.

For females I ended up with: 1 GDP x Chemmy Jones, 1 Sugar Kush x Chemmy Jones, 1 The White x Chemmy Jones, 1 Platinum Kush x Chemmy Jones, and 2 Purple Kush x Chemmy Jones.

Theres some from my current grow. I dont know if I want to keep vertical next round. its not as clean as I would like. The light coverage needs to be worked out running horizontally though.

To those guys running side by side MH and HPS lights-

Is there an issue that the plants on the outside get more of one type of light? I can see the middle looks pretty nicely blended..

I am considering running one of my big 125w CFLs next to my cool tube for some more lumen output but dont want the plants right under the blue spectrum light to grow different than those under the HPS.

Maybe it doesnt matter when they are bigger and start absorbing both light spectrums from different parts of the same plant?

Let me know what you all think.

I really don't know changed today so any differences are due to genetics.
My plan is to run a perpetual sog. I will let em begin in a minitent under 6500k PLL (6 plants 20cm high) then move em to sex and stretch under the MH and finish under the warm HPS glow.

I imagine that more is more when it comes to light.
