PPK staring Grateful Casey and friends

sorry my friend I do not :( . All I did was find the middle of the pot and cut a small hole big enough for the tail piece to squeeze into then I had the bucket lids already drilled and the tailpiece hole drilled and filed to slide the tailpiece into nice and snugg. This gave the bottom of the cloth pot some rigidity but before the bucket lid I slip an overflow saucer between the pot and the lid to catch run off to help it catch into the bottom container, before I did this I was getting a lot of run off water in the tent cause the pots were as round as the buckets so the seeping from the cloth was running over the buckets and onto the ground. next season I will be going with a more stout of a container more like D9's latest version. I only went with the cloth pots cause this grow is on a super small budget. Thanks for the questions flat9 hope this helps you understand how I did it.

Yeah it helps. The tuff stuff tubs are pretty nice, definitely. It's a great design and I haven't had any problems with it. The only problems I have had is with the medium... I really have to wash the shit out of the Napa to get it to work...

next season I plan on running a more chunky of a medium, something like coco chunks with fine coco ,and napa floor dry kinda like Mister D's mix for me the coco just takes to long to dry out before the next pulse.

Next season I will be running 2 smaller tents flipped same set up 3 ppk's in each tent and hopefully dual arc 1000's the floor space is the main factor for me right now thats why i have to wait till next season for a total overhaul of the set up.We should also have the genetics to start off with also, as soon as our last order arrives there is 13 different strains in just the one order. After this run the doctor and the apple jack will not be going forward into anything else they were just inferior genetics IMO. I am liking the CSG beans to be very healthy and strong genetics that will get some time in my tents this next season. I still have 4 grateful casey's left, soon to be 11 strawberry dogshit, and 5 cheesedog beans.

its going to be a challenge getting everything together in the 3 months time I have till my next season starts but I have faith it will get done, this next time around I will be vegging under a horizontal T5 light till at least 2-3ft tall before they go into flower I want to achieve the wall of weed effect, vegging in a vertical room tends to bush the plants out more IME at least the genes I have been using would rather bush out than grow vertical. Oh well we still have at least 7 weeks left of this run to enjoy till any renovations start. thanks for stopping by flat9 always a pleasure

Strawberry dogshit?! LOL. Who names these things? Not exactly something I want to consume, smoking or otherwise...

... even with strawberries on top.

week 3 of flower update

week 3 of flower update

Hello all, its the end of week 3 in flower for the group and things are starting to get going some more so than others but I guess that's what happens when you run different strains together but I think everything will work out fine.

to start off with picture 1 we have a group shot before the light came on, I cant get in there for pictures anymore while it is on but the plants are loving all the intense light. shot #2 is of the grateful casey and man did she stretch out I couldn't get her all into the frame, its tallest branch its scraping 5ft its closer to the beginning of week 4 so hopefully we shouldn't get anymore stretch out of her. there is some distance between nodes on her but thats my fault I left the light up to high trying to stretch out the Doctor and the apple jack that it really effected the nodal stretch on the casey jones, oh well live and learn

shot #3 is of the doctor which is the furthest along so far as its starting to fill in all over i'm betting I could probably take her by week 9 with out any ill effects she's looking good though they all really are I just wish they all would have blown up as big as the grateful casey

shot #4 is of the apple jack she is starting to fill in a lil more herslef, she is a plant of her own thats for sure her structure is very nice and solid with very tight nodal distance these flowers on this plant should be pretty nice but she will go every bit of 10 weeks like the grateful casey

The last shot is of the top of the grateful casey as she stretches to the top of the fence like I said this is every bit of 5ft should be a good show from here on out.

hope everyone enjoys my update and stick around week 4 is right around the corner.

It's recirculated via gravity, then however much is still in the plant's the float valve controlling the add back Will top everything off with fresh nutes. I ph the add back before it goes in that's about the only time I ph the water. Thanks for stopping by man hope you enjoy the thread

yes that's exactly whats happening, then once the water drops below the float valve level fresh nutrients are added back via the add back bucket

D9 has to pull his pics because he is like a lot of us that probably don't pay for his subscription and is limited the amount of pics he can post, and he documents the shit out of his work so in order for him to provide visual documentation he pulls the oldest pics for the newest ones. I am going to have to do the same here by next grow or pay for a subscription. I vote for the later :)

I would do a lil sketch for you If I had a clue on how to do so. I am very computer illiterate sorry mate

so basicly top fed dtw but the west is kept in the bottom bucket with the wick submerged incase of emergency? i still dont get whatthe air gap is and what not man i wish i could get the hang of this and stop annoying you lol, i used paint for my drawings, before this i just drew it on paper top and side view and took photos like heath used to , autocads he called them ;)

here you go hope this helps

note the control rez has the add back line higher so you can adjust the water level in the buckets with the float valve.

Then the pupm in the control rez top feeds the plants once every 1-1/2 hours for 45 seconds then the run off flow's threw the return line back to the control rez.

the air gap is so that the plant won't put down any water roots and solely depend on the upper container filled with air roots, this way the water temperature is never a factor along with dissolved oxygen that needs to be present for water roots to thrive.

The wick is really only there for drainage or in case your pump fails and the top feed won't work then there is a constant supply of fresh food being wicked into the medium. The roots will grow into the bottom container threw the wick but the majority of air roots will sustain the plant for all of its growth and survival

Hope this helps out more man

week 4 update

week 4 update

Hello all its that time of the week already it seems like its every other day any more lol not that i am complaining hahahahaha. Things are really starting to blow up the casey Jones is starting to stack so thats a good sign she is done stretching maybe a little crowning down the road but thats to be expected. its friday now so another 3 days till week 5 which is the midway point the casey might go a little bit longer if need be but the other 2 will be done by week10 for sure. Nothing going on besides massive growth no ill effects so far which is always a good thing so onto the pictures

This first picture is of the group of them before the light comes on I just wish the doctor and apple jack had filled out as much as the Casey jones, The next picture is of the doctor and how much she is filling in. she should have a pretty massive head bud on her, the next shot is of the Apple jack she has grown a little bit more since last week but she is filling in more also.
The structure of this plant is crazy I love how its stacking nodes from the bottom to the top I might have to try and reveg her after flower we'll see

the next shot is of the Grateful Casey the picture is looking up at her to get an idea of all the branches and bud sites this lil lady is going to have she is going to be the high light of this tent thats for sure. next season I plan on running mostly CSG between the grateful casey, strawberry dogshit, and the cheese dog its going to be epic I cant wait. I love CSG the growth is just amazing from what i have witnessed with the grateful casey if the other 2 are any bit the same I should have some monsters on my hands i am loving it.

the last picture is of the headbud of the doctor and how much she filled in on week 4, she was the run of the 3 and she was almost yanked a cpl of times so hopefully we get something nice from her for letting her survive.

well thats my update for week#4 hope everyone enjoys it and any questions are greatly appreciated. On another note does anyone have a clue what Happened to DHF?!?!?! I see he deleted his account hope everything is ok big man my prayers are with you my friend, my mentor, my god :)

week 5 update

week 5 update

today marks the 5th week of flower and the girls are just humming along nicely, growth has been getting explosive day by day and they are all starting to fill in nicely. I just wish I had a better camera to get closer shots of the buds we are starting to get trichs on the big fan leaves not just the sugar leaves around the buds and I would love to show all y'all what i am seeing. I got in there last night and cleaned up some sucker branches around the Casey Jones and tried to pull back some branches to let light get as far into the center of the plant as possible, we have been having to raise and lower the light manually every day to make sure that all of the plants are getting what they need. Since the CJ is so much taller than the other 2 this has been a must. Needless to say its been working out so thats all that matters to me.

The first picture is of them all in a group before lights on, the next shot is of the doctor, after that is the Apple Jack, followed by the Grateful Casey then the last shot is of the top bud of the GC as it is stretching about 5 inches above the screen at roughly 5' tall. I was able to get the other 2 plants pulled back away from the Casey Jones in the corners. Next season I am going to only run 2 plants per tent in PPK's that should allow me a better more even light intensity, also it will allow me to be able to keep up with things like trimming and keeping everything cleaner. I am really hoping to get into a house soon somewhere I can spread out some and not feel so cramped all the time.

This week starts the last week of maxibloom, I added 1 gram/gal of koolbloom powder to the system last night along with a 5 gal add back of maxibloom at7g/gal and 1g/gal koolbloom powder. I will run this all the way out with no more add backs besides the one I just filled up I am hoping that the plants will devour everything because starting april 1-2nd I will be dumping the rez and all the buckets and starting the florabloom liquid along with the koolbloom powder for another 5-6 days then flora and liquid koolbloom for 6 days then just plain water for around 2 weeks. this time next week they should start packing on the weight so until then hope everyone enjoyed my week 5 update

very nice mate there packing it on now, the buds in pic 2 look solid as well! very nice not a discoloured leaf in site as well, happy gals

when u talk about add backs, how often are these done mate? do u check ur EC(ppm) and see when its low and give them some more juice?

been speaking with another PPKer via PM he said hes seen a few with probs with pure coco or coco/perlite users in the PPKs i have 0 access to turface in the UK apparently drainage isnt quick enough for the pulses in some cases have u experienced anythin like this?

keep the updates coming boss , looking good
