Any Idea How x_tracted Does It?

GW,

I've heard extracting with straight propane provides a less than stellar taste compared to butane. Is there any truth to this?

gracias :)

So I have some facts not after digging. We have been speaking frequently with the owner of a WA company that works very closely with extracted.

The gas depends on the material. For example propane is used for older cure material. When propane is used the vibrant colors and light terpenes are retained because of the ultra low boiling point of the solvent.

They run Extraction Tek systems and csresavers. Way over priced systems they told me each set up cost 25 grand. The do not use tamesiums

They use very large pumps to bring purge times way down.

To achieve the muffin the use a warm water circulator around the pot during propane extractions and pull a super hard vac. This and a few other steps will yield the stable muffin.

They also do propane butane blends. It has a lot to do with how you handle and prep your material as well. We have broken the code and now producing the same caliber oil as xtracted good luck everyone.

Yep, pretty much mirrors exactly what I know as well.

All of my propane extractions taste and look way better than butane.

is it "stupid" to say that there almost consistent orange hue crumble/honeycomb that they've been putting on instag can be attributed to a limonene. pinene. myrecene, carotine. lycopene ect dilution thats added or is this just ridiculous talk.

Lots of people are adding terpenes, but I do not believe that Xtracted is.

I've smoked a LOT of their product. I don't think that there are terpenes being added. (Yet, it seems like everyone is moving this way)

Maybe a matter of tastes or the manner in which it was purged? They seem pretty tasty to me.

PS: Check the May issue of High Times for our subzero Skywalker extraction pictures, which were virtually transparent. Compare it to the Green Crack pictures of material extracted exactly the same way, and notice the color differences

Alas, I just got the May High Times pre-publication copy and note that the clear shot pictures didn't make the cut. Unfortunately the day we ran the samples, I had a corrupted camera card, so didn't successfully take any of my own.

Here are a couple of very bad shots of similar subzero extracts of Skywalker and Green Crack, which gives the general idea about color differences.

The Skywalker is almost colorless and the Green Crack is electric yellow.

Yes... IE: "Sour Diesel" terpene profile is x% A ,y% B, and z% C. You mix these up and re-add them and it smells/tastes like said strain.

And where do the terpenes come from, the weed? How would you take em out and reapply the terps? Im confused...

Hello
Do you think Sam S would agree with you on that?
Just wondering? As he does have some experience in the field?
Hoping for an answer..

There is only 1 terpene specific to the cannabis plant. I see no problem with adding terpenes derived from other ethical sources.

This is a quote from Sam S, in another thread, on terpenes in seedless vs seeded.
Am I misunderstanding, or is he saying there are 130 terpenes?

"Yet to be proven? To whom, you? Ask anyone that has tried terpene's like me.
The reason I know about the effects terpenes have in modulating the high is simple. I smoked 100% pure THC maybe 15 years ago, and found the high lacking, as RCC said if this was the Cannabis high he would not bother to smoke Cannabis. Anyway I then put the same total weight as the pure THC but this time I added some of my dry sift, (which is terpene rich), 1/2 of the same weight. The effects were obvious to all who tried the tests, maybe a dozen serious smokers like me and RCC.
The same weight gave much much better high, even though the THC levels were lower in the 100% pure THC/resin maybe 50% THC mix. That made me feel that I was right about my feelings that terpenes help modify the effects of THC.
I then got the 100% pure THC and mixed in just a very tiny amount of a terpene, I tried the top 12 and found several that made THC stronger and some like Myrcene made the THC high more narcotic, couchlock, stronger then 100% pure THC. Some like limonene contribute to the up , clear, speedy, psychadelic effects.
This was confirmed by an organolepctic test of 100 questions before and after the tests which were for one THC/terpene combo a day. The testing was double blind.
Every single smoker was in general agreement abut the modulation of the THC.

Think another way, most western bred Cannabis is only THC, where do all the different effects found in Cannabis come from? I say THC+ terpenes, over 130 have been found in Cannabis so far.

I realize everyone I told this to found it hard to believe terpenes could modify the THC effects so much, but many many people now have confirmed that terpenes are the key to more potent THC.

Also terpene production is cut in half by seeding, here is the proof:

Our sub-zero extracts are consistently light as well. I'm wondering what temp we should be using for purge. Generally, we set the AI Oven to 108F, and do (or try to do) 48 hours thin film purge. Do you think we could go lower to save some color?

Why is the magic number for shatter 110? Can we go lower and longer?

Is there a chart floating around that has the boiling point of the terpenes found in cannabis?

Why can't I go to canna-college!? :)
