What's new

Stupid question, but I am new to this.

I am using coco as my medium, and am also using GH nutes. I was wondering if these nutes are ok to use, or will they harm the plants. It is GH 3 part Veg, Micro, Bloom. I started from bagseed, and they are looking crappy today. I am keeping the ph at 6.0. I am also hand watering, every couple of days. Thanks in advance, to anyone that takes the time to answer me.

Hey outinit,

Yes you can use the 3 part GH line with coco and many do. I would recommend you lower your ph a little to 5.8. I currently run my nutes at 5.6 in coco and the plants are loving it.

Good luck!

The problem could be salt build up too (and many other potential issues). GH nutes are great and you will do fine.

They are looking a little yellow, and on 2 of the plants, I see purpling. My temps were real high for about 5 days, so that might have played into it. Should I feed them every time they feel light, and then flush every 2 weeks with straght water? Boy, am i feeling like the worlds worst "grower". I use that term lightly, cause so far, I am not doing so great. But I will keep trying, I just can't let these little bagseedlings down!!! thasnk you all for the advice!!!!

Watering every 2 days is not good, I feed my clones twice a day as soon as they have decent roots

As long as you have good drainage then you can't over water ..... do not compress the coco

If you treat it like soil you'll get soil results, treat it like hydro and you'll get hydro results

You nutes are fine .... just feed more frequently, if the lights are on in the day then you can hand feed twice a day

Ok, so I will feed them everyday, a couple of times. So it is hard to overwater? they are small, so I thought they might be to wet, but i will watre them everyday, a couple of times a day. Thank you!!!

Don't pour it in like you would soil .... if your plants are less than 6" high feed them 15ml at a time, twice a day and put it in slowly ...... coco likes to soak water up

If you are using treated tap water do you dechlorinate the water first? Let your water sit in an open container for a day and gas off. Then add nutrients and adjust the PH. Chlorine was born to kill.

Just fed them, and made sure the nutes were 1/4 strength,200 ppm, PH was 5.8. I will water them again this evening. Should I use straight water, or nute them again? I am sorry to be asking so many questions, but reading about it, and doing it, are so different. I really don't want to mess these up. I thank everyone for helping me. I may feel like I have read everything there is to read about growing, but when you are actually growing, I seem to doubt myself. So thank you all again and again.

try and post some pics, that will help get a better idea of whats up. but you can use GH, in fact their is a whole thread on using gh in coco in the stickies. if you spend the time reading through that you will be well equipped to deal with anything. you will quickly see that there are a few ways to get a good harvest using coco, so don't be put off, just don't mix advise till you know more. if you gonna grow hydro style yo can't all of a sudden decide not to. but the advise you have gotten so far is good. it will help to continue in a hydroponic style to have a pump and drip irrigation set up on a timer running from a tank of nutrient solution. yes in coco you can feed every time with nutrients. if you want to be safe then do a big flush every 2 weeks or so with just plain water followed by normal nurients solution the next day. if one is careful and doesn't over fert, then not much flushing is needed at all till end flush.

READ

You asked almost the same question a week ago. If you've only been watering and feeding every few days you didn't take the advice in that thread. GH nutes were also mentioned and recommended in that thread. Plus there's a big discussion on how often to water coco just a couple threads down from this one.

The K.I.S.S. thread is also full of great info. It's long but start at the beginning and you'll get the idea and won't necessarily have to read the whole thing, even though you'll learn lots more if you do.

Best of luck.

I have been reading, and I think I am inundating myself with so much information. I tried watering more after, but then backed down cause they didn't grow at all. I know I sound like an idiot, and my real problem is a keep second guessing what I am doing. Maybe I need to stop overthinking this.

Go to the K.I.S.S. thread in the nutrients forum. Read the first post. Substitute your Micro and Bloom for the MaxiBloom. Feed and water them daily. That's really all it takes. All we're doing is some simple gardening here. There's no need to get too worked up about it.

I let the water sit all night, and then this morning fed them 200 ppm, ph 5.8, with the runoff at ph 6.2. I just went in and checked them, and they actually look a little better. I will water them agin this evening, with light nutes agin, exactly as this morning. I wish I could take pics, but I broke the darn camera(it dropped in my water bucket). I was so excited to poat a pic, that I took the camera in when I watered. I know, that sounds like something a newb would do, and I did it. As soon as I get a new camera I will post some pics. I really thank everyone for helping my self doubting butt!!!!
