Dude, you gotta flush. Yellowing out is natural senescence. What the plant should do

Yellowing leaves, great.

Yellow calyxes, unsellable.

Sucks but that is the market I deal with. I agree though, for personal it is fine but for bag appeal not so much.

you don't need to do 3 weeks Third. many like the long leach for a smother smoke. For you a good 7 days will be fine. I use 2 weeks but have used 7 days with no difference.

Sometimes you just wont get the yellow leaves. I have had plants on 3 weeks of water still green as the 1st day of flower.

Planning on 63. I don't know if its my lights or what but I can't give straight water for two weeks. I'll have a whole lot of dead going on.

Plus in my experience chem strains tend to yellow out really fast for me. That's why I was wondering. I'm only feeding at 0.5 right now so they are already getting light green on the fans.

My LOK and my SFVxChem both yellow out in about 3-4 days on fresh water. Maybe cause I only feed at 1.2-1.4 max in flower???

Thanks bud!
if your only feeding at 0.5 they wont need much flush if any, a lot of growers in the know will reduce feed gradually with little to no actual flush, DHF for one.

I think yours might take a little longer cause you feed higher than me.

Either way shit burns good so no problems...

when do you start dropping the strength ? right after the PK ? thats when i start but i don't think i drop it as drastic as yours . i'm usually at 1.2 to 1.0 when i start the plain water .

That's nice Jack me he he

I wonder how long till end of cycle on Jack me`s GG4`s , cuz them fans are still gourd green with burnt tips and guaranteed stored N although they look awesome.....but ....

Your`s do as well Third , and yeah....I never bought into that flushin shit....just never made any sense to me to starve your bitches when the last 2 weeks is when max swellage occurs in a dialed environment with lower ppm`s across the board start to finish...

If you`re only feeding 250 ppm`s right now and only up to 1.4 max throughout the life of the grow , I can`t understand why natural plant senescence isn`t any further along , although ....

If 2 weeks are left till Harvey , they should start yellowing off real soon unless there`s stored juice in the medium itself preventing or rather retarding the yellowing off process , which can absolutely happen with coco , especially if it`s re-used , and....

Runoff ppm`s are misleading since what`s in said medium`s being mixed with what`s being run through , so again the "slurry test" gives proof positive of what`s actually stored in the core of your rootzone`s medium.....regardless.....

Not raggin on anyone`s effort toward end of cycle and flushin with plain water , especially in coco or organics , cuz the mediums can hold onto residuals longer if higher feeds have been employed from start to finish...anyways....

As you showed with the illadelph ashes after a proper "slow" dry and cure , everything get`s leached out IF ppm`s are brought down to and around normal tapwater ppms by end of cycle IME , so bottom line....

What works for you and makes yas happy is what works and makes yas happy.....Me ?.....I was a whore and wanted every gram I could squeeze outta my bitches , but lower ppm`s start to finish , and dwindling ppm`s down gradually with R/O topoff`s the last couple weeks or so produced the same white ash and awesome smells and tastes as well , so there you go.....

Many ways ta skin a mule....

Peace....DHF....:ying:.....

damn that was a long post, all you had to say is I agree with joesy.:biggrin:

waste of nutrients if you are feeding during senescence... its already dying... why feed it! Flush ftw!!! Plus that ruins the medium with build up - could trigger the plant to keep growing and/or cause some natural survival instincts to kick into gear...

The gg x hb has already been on 1 week of water. She still has green leaves. Another week should do it. If she doesn't yellow with 2 weeks of ro I will still harvest her.

Jacks plant looks like she is just starting to fade. Third's are not ready... He knows what he is doing.

it doesent though, try it and see, at the low ppm's its not enough to trigger anything, the leaves yellow and die just as they do with str8 water,

You've got your EC values a little screwed up frosty . 1.0 ec is 500TDS or 500PPM .5 conversion & 700PPM on the .7 conversion , 2.0 is 1000 TDS or 1000 PPMs .5 & 1400@ .7

Sorry Joesy , you know we`re on the same page , and I didn`t come here to debate the flush or not to flush ongoing argument since weedsites began , I was only wondering if Third was re-using his medium and residuals could be locked in the core of his rootzones preventing plant senescence from occurring sooner since he`s feeding such low ppms.....
Fred , what would you do if that was the case ??? i just started reusing my coco & 3rd has too . so if that is the case of residules holding off the yellowing , would you suggest plain water for 2 weeks or what would you do ???

I usually leach for 2 weeks minimum , the first week or more i'm checking the runoff to see if the EC is coming down to the same levels i'm putting in ,once its hit the point where i'm getting out almost the same strength that i'm putting in .... i'll leach for a few more days so the plant has to feed off itself & thats usually when the fans start yellowing & dieing off .
