Yesterday the Dutch government have agreed that cannabis with a strength above +15% will be declared graded the same as hard drugs!
WTF madness!!..

they will try to bring it in starting july, if not jan 2015..
sad days for amsdterdam and the netherlands as a whole, such a shame

As long as they don't send it to a californian lab for testing the % we should be safe :D

joking aside, this is insane and just not possible to execute...

And what about the medical patients who need that kind of strength?

This would set a very bad precedent, one that other countries might follow when they legalize.

On the other hand, it would be great to have a cup somewhere else where it's legal, like Colorado. :)

Only drawback to that is all pot in Colorado is supposed to be grown there...

Pretty soon we'll all say, "Remember when Amsterdam used to be cool and people went there to smoke in coffeeshops?"

I've been to Adam for the last HTCC, and most of what the coffee shops sells is already under 15% anyway, stupid law yes, but the weed in Adam coffee's it's shwag... Even the grey area = pure hype IMO. Not a decent quality well cured sticky bud. Just brittle bland flowers.

Back in the early 90s this law would of made more sense lmaoo

I got this information from a friend who was at the dutch government yesterday for the outcome of this..

Hia Skip: apparently it will not affect any medical patients....

She was there yesterday and this was the outcome:
Although they did not finish the round 2 of the debate, the minister of justice and the secretary of health decided to mark THC of +15% as HARD DRUGS .... WTF!!
as my mate said "38 years of tolerance down the drain in one afternoon"

im told they will be testing all establishments 4 times a year...,,

..... but hash oil has been classed as hard drugs in holland for a few years already now, and that is still readily available..

we will see.. they are going fucking backwards while a lot of other country's are looking at it in a different light..

Nice red herring. Medical Marijuana users in Holland buy weed from the pharmacies, via the bureau of medicinal cannabis, grown and supplied by supplied by Bedrocan BV... they have a 19% 'jack herrer' variety dubbed 'Bedrocan' you should know that wise ol' skippy webmaster.

This is another sham attempt to mess with the cannabis market by the uber conservative right government in Holland which will FAIL.

How can one impose testing of a black market supply chain? What will coffee shops be forced to do, have each batch of delivered black market marijuana tested to ensure it complies with all rules and regs before adding it to the menu?

Legalization and regulation of the coffee shops in Holland is the only way to improve the quality of dutch cannabis. The crap that passes as smokeable, is laughable. The past 15 years have seen regulated marjkets all over North America leap past dutch weed in terms of quality and variety ten fold.

Amsterdam is a fun city, but needs to get away from this system where they turn a blind eye to the cannabis market to run in the black economy, rather than regulate it and ensure the health and safety of consumers.

Oh, I knew they've been selling medical marijuana for about a decade now thru pharmacies in the netherlands. However the OP didn't indicate whether or not this would affect that supply. Either the shit is legal or it's not. To have a two tiered system for medical and recreational doesn't work well. Look at Washington State. They're going to do away with medical altogether because there were going to be conflicts between the rec and medical laws.

Perhaps this is a reason why the groups supporting legalizing in California withdrew their initiative. It seems if you have a med state you need to address any potential conflicts between rec and medical laws in advance. I think Colorado did a reasonable job of that, unlike Washington.

Come on, any coffee shop can get around this by buying and selling un-manicured weed, that simple. 20%+ THC weed becomes less then 15% THC. So the customer has to clean the leaf off before he smokes if that is what they want, the coffee shop can't stop them, wink, wink. It will be a bit cheaper to buy un-manicured I bet.
Of course that is if it even happens, they said only the Dutch could go to coffee shops, that was a joke, it never happened except down south by a few of the border towns.
Hash oil has been illegal for years and years, like coke and heroin. really weird if this comes to be and a cannabis bud can be the same as coke or heroin, it i snot right.
Please tell every coffee shop owner to be prepared to sell any really good Cannabis un-manicured, then nothing will change except the governments stupidity which grows even faster then a Cannabis plant with full sun and a rich soil.
Anyway to get back to the IC mag Cup 2015 no problem for the weed, just deliver the samples un-manicured, as for the hash no way around it, all decent hash is more then 15% THC, so it may be the end of a public Hash event, unless it is with 15% THC lousy hash???? time will tell. The good Coffee shops will be hurting with a 15% THC hash limit, the cheaper ones will not notice, lots of imported hash is under 15% THC.
If 15% THC hash was the rule at home then I would leave, but that is impossible to enforce and not what they are attempting to do, it is the coffee shop sales they are trying to control the THC of.
What will they do to growers busted that have a plant more then 15% THC, I wonder? Treat them like a meth manufacturer?
Or smugglers with hashish more then 15% THC? What a world...

well even if this law doesn't get implemented, you guys in the states should set up a ic cannabis cup over there for sure. it would be much bigger then the Dutch cup ever was. but we do still need an ic cup in Europe too, for those of us who refuse to travel to the US. i'm thinking Spain might be the next place if things go to shit in Amsterdam.

the trouble with leaving the trim on, what if they take a flower sample and test it, maybe just a single calyx gets tested? would be a real shame if this gets implemented. seems to me this is a way to force more shops to close down as it will be nearly impossible to stay on top of. didnt i read that hash was allowed to be a bit higher % of thc then bud?

What can us members do to help make this happen? I would love to see an IC cup come to Cali :)

not sure you can do anything as of yet as a member. apart from trying to convince Payaso or Skip to take it on and allow it to be organized here. once they are in you will need someone with a good rep to be the coordinator. not sure if Payaso would do it? you can but ask.
