small update

Hello everyone I have small update on whats going on in my tent, growth seems to be slow the past week we have had some really cold weather and I think my humidity is suffering from it. I got the CJ trimmed and starting to train it up against the chicken wire, as for the other 2 they are still to short to reach the fence to start training. I think i am just going to put the light on 20/4 for the last week to try and keep my humidity lvl up and hopefully get some more vertical growth. the first picture is of the CJ before I trimmed her, the second is of the doctor, and the third is of the apple jack, the fourth is of the CJ after I trimmed and tied her up to the fence and the last is of the stalk its hard to see how big it is but its about the size or diameter of a quarter. I have about 10 days left till I am supposed to be flipping the light to 12/12 and I really need to get at least another foot of vertical growth for it to be worth flipping. I mite just have to sign another lease to make it worth while, also it will give me another whole year to get things back on track. hope everyone enjoys my update and any questions are welcome.

I dont normally do this, but "the might, mite typo" is not allowed here. We dont speak of those things.

Absolutely no mites. ;)

Mights only. Im jk, and stoned. lookin good. You ever try vegging under horizontal to gain height before sticking them in the vert room?

Yeah I have done that before I just don't have a hood for a horizontal setting I just keep the bulb above them just like if it was the stretch. Also my humidity was non-existent, I put a humidifier inside the room and got some more hydro halos for watering so I was able to pulse for 30 seconds every 30 minutes now and since my humidity has climbed to just about 40% so far and climbing plus it's about -15 outside ago the dry air isn't helping.hopefully the added humidity will help with some growth in the next week. Also I set the timer to 20/4 keeping the light on will keep it warmer inside the tent. Thanks for stopping in dabs

weekly update

hello everyone its that time of the week again, we are starting to get some growth finally. I had been having a problem with my humidity lately and keeping my on off temps relatively close but within the past week I had gotten everything straightened out and everything seems to be moving along. It's just too bad I couldn't have gotten some more vertical growth seeing that this week coming up will be starting the flip. I think next season I will be vegging with a horizontal setup , I have been hearing and reading about people doing this to get some stretch. I really want to create a vertical scrog and really think by using PPK's this could be obtained. It's something to work on for next season. I am just glad I was able to get one more cycle in this winter before spring hits. anyways on to the plants. This first picture is of the casey jones she is filling in very nicely and she is at least 2x the size of the plant I tested the PPK out with and I got 14 ounces of dried bud from her. the next one is the Doctor from Greenhouse seeds, she is starting to put on some growth and starting to pass up the apple Jack, for being the runt she is finally hitting her stride. last we have the Apple Jack. This plant smells great has a nice fruity funk smell to her should be a nice lil bush. I might have to take a cpl clones from each of them for next season I just don't have anywhere to keep clones during the off season. Oh well I have time to figure something out. not too much going on beside that. My hortilux 1000 HPS bulb should be here by wed. right on time for the start of flower. Hope everyone enjoys and as always any comment or questions are welcomed.

id like to find a ppk system with less parts

id like to find a ppk system with less parts

so ppk is created by pulsing your medium for a minute or 2, once every hour or 2 and having a constant wick....can it be as simple as using a drip tray as my rez...making a cover out of foam and cutting holes for my 3.5 gallon buckets with a ton of holes drilled in the bottom to fit in and cover the rez?then having the rez pump on all the time with a timed valve hooked to drip lines to the tops of the buckets?id like to use coco and lava rocks and make a chow
I have jacks 2 part but wanna know what else I can add for flavor without bad results? can I add florablend?or liquid karma?could I use the pure blend pro?
im currently running a bio lava rock drip table with organic pure blend pro and liquid karma. and like it but like the bigger yields of the ppk more
love your grow ,,,sorry to hijack it,,,just trying to understand how flexible these system are or if im wasting my time trying to simplify it. ive grown hempy so this just sounds like a super powered version version

All your basically doing is displacing gases and used food by pulsing every 90 minutes. Basically the system is a drip fed system with a recycled wick and connected to a rez. The system it's simple I didn't really understand what you were trying to explain I'm a lil stoned atm.

As far as what you feed them is up to you, a lot of guys are using Jack's but I have been using maxi bloom with good results. I don't pay into the snake oils as much as others . Hope this helps bud and thanks.for stopping by. Btw tonight starts the first.night of 12/12 things should start blowing up here shortly

hey looking very nice im in for the ride mate, i have looked at these PPKs and never really understood them but i see great things, beena RDWC loyal all my days and so was the guy who taught me

hes now switched to coco and said its the best move hes ever made he just hand waters once a day

this method looks even simpler and less maintainance il seee how it goes and may pick your brain a little if its ok....

with the drip feeder, is this pumping from the waste res at the bottom of each unit that is then reused by wick feeding.

and do you have any PH probs....if so how would you adjust these and ur feed for the ladies

as always all the best mate

First off thanks for stopping by sqydro, everything is connected to a main control res. The drippers are controlled from a pump inside the control res. And all the buckets (pods) are connected to the control res by 3/4 inch pvc pipe. Then I just have a 5 gallon add back bucket hooked up to the control res with a float valve on it. So once the pulse comes on and top feeds everything the add back drains fresh nutes back into the system and everything drains back to equilibrium via gravity. All the roots are air roots so you never have to worry about root rot like you would in RDWC.

Good question man and pick away thanks for stopping in

man that sounds fucking awesome....i lost a few to RDWC fuck ups very easy to do so in these systems gonna read more on this now and try get a understanding, so the pulse feeder comes on at what intervals?

and the drain off into the bottm res are all connected and re used as a wick type deel, i assume once dialed this sytem is next to 0 maintainance

Yep they're pretty much as good as DWC sans the need for chillers and pumps running 24/7. I've done blumats too and even those I think are harder than the ppk in terms of maintenance. Love these friggin things!

As for the pulse feed, depends on your media, environment, etc. Want to keep the media damp as far as I understand it. For me in veg with 80 F and 70% RH using Napa Floor Dry I am pulse feeding every 90 minutes...

Yeah I lost a whole crop to being a novice running bubble buckets without chillers, thats when I found Coco

exactly no maintenance except for keeping up on trimming these this blow up and can get out of control very quickly if not kept up on

Before I decided to go with the PPK I was seriously moving towards the Blumats but even they have a problem with dialing in and heard from many folks that have had severe run aways from them drowning the plants, But I think it is catman that is using blumats to top feed his PPK I could be wrong though and I am sure he will chime in here soon to let me know If I am wrong lol love ya catman hahaha

exactly with Coco my pulses are more saturating pulse since I am in Coco and I usually have it set at 1 minute every 60-90 minutes, With like turface or floor dry I assume its more of a flood since the medium drains faster and doesn't hold as much nutrients so and this is just me but I would figure it would need to be flooded more often a day than in coco but again thats just me. Thanks for the questions guys and thanks for stopping in, I am just about to load up some pics for this weeks update so stick around.

weekly update

Hello all its that time of the week again and its time to post some shots of whats going on with my ladies. Alright this first shot is of all 3 in the tents right after lights off, then we have a shot of the Grateful Casey. I have the oats tube to show comparison. I just put the Hortilux in the tent on wed. along with a humidifier and temps have been getting better and better. My humidity is finally where it needs to be at. The 3rd shot is of the Doctor from GHS, the fourth shot is of the Apple jack from seedisms, she is staying squat like a lil bush even though I never topped her and the last is of the top of the grateful Casey just needed to fill a picture slot for this update. I am waiting on another speed control for my intake fan and I got another little honeywell fan to replace the box fan I currently have in there now. I decided I am just going to sign another lease for a year this time to get a full season in next year. all in all everything has been working out so we'll see where it takes us. Hope everyone enjoys my update and all questions and comments are welcomed.

:) Looking healthy! I'm sure you feel relieved having signed the new lease.

As far as Blumat's being easier to sustain... I can't offer an opinion because I have never tried to rig up anything like a pulse feed. Blumats are pretty damn simple tho... Just stick them in any container...

My number one priority was always being safe. If my system ever flooded, it could have led to potential consequences. Some serious problems that could occur are damaged carpet, having a landlord called, or electrocution... Far more serious problems than a Blumat running away... I did have a run away, but determined it was caused from a rapid change to the environment they were dialed in for. I used a small rez and the bottom of my tent was able to hold an inch of water.

That's just my 2 cents based on my experiences, situations, and priorities.

so this sytem pulse feed for 1 min every hour or w/e time u specify pending medium, and the run off is collected?

if this is so would it not overflow if feeding so much? sorry for the bombardment just really interesting mate

best of luck
