howdy yall

sick of losing clones to dampenning off, constant fanning, babysitting your babies?

well, domes = stagnant air = loss to death and potentially very slow rootoing times and other issues

i have found through trial and error is: using rockwool and ditching the dome has been by far the most productive and low maintanance method for rooting cuts. faster times, healthier specimens, less loss and waste

for the price, rockwool is more then worth it for ease of use, survival/success, water retention, k.is.s. and above all cleanliness.

in the next post find the method i have used forever, and most of the upper echelon of successful b.c. clone house kings.

all the steps

-mix up a rez of your fave rooting medium soak (i use my cannabolic stacker 0.4 ec solution)
- soak rock wool plugs in ph 5.5 water for 24 hours (1.6ml h202 med-man method)
- place 45-78 per prop flat (do not squeeze out any excess water)
- make sure the pre cut holes are placed upwards
- preheat plugs with a heat mat and dome for at least an hour before sticking cuts
- take the best cuts from any part of the plant, make sure slice to have 45 degree angle
- dip cutting in your fave hormone ( i prefer gel but have rooted with nothing or saliva before lol)
- place treated clone into precut hole, now you can pierce the rockwool deeper if you like, or stop once the cut hits the bottom, i let the strength of the clone decide
- make sure to pinch the precut hole tightly around the fresh cut
-place back on heat mat, with no dome
- if your tray is packed with cuts (72-78)- use the holed tray in solid tray bottom feed method of 2 liters every time the tray gets light/drys out (about every 5 days) with 5.6 ph water
- if you have a more open tray like 45 or less, just pour 1.5 liters of water into your solid tray and make sure the water leaches up from the bottom, ensuring that that tops are less moist then the bottoms of the plugs

with this method, you should get 95% rooted clones in about 10 days subject to strain and enviroment.

rockwool is the only medium i have found that does not need a dome. they may wilt a bit for the first little bit, but dont worry, the shock will put their need to grow roots into high gear

i use 16 hours light 8 dark for my cuts, but do use 18-24 hours light subject to location. heat matts stay on 24 hours

good luck, enjoy and have fun!

I dont babysit anything, a trick I found for dampening off is to put an opaque clear plastic dixie cup over freshly planted cuttings, then take the cup off after 24hrs. The roots get acclimated to their new soil over night, then they're good to go.

hi fly by night

most bc guys are too cheap and lazy for pebbles. they just get massive bags of perlite for 10.00

but ya, thats great for after they root :)

FBN is as stingy as they come. Its in his genetic make up!

As a cost effective strategy,,, the pebbles beneath the rw cubes buffer heat from the mat, and provide a moist and airy layer (the fog). All the best homies

Similar results with plugs. I think leaf mass is important. too much and they will transpire too much than what they are getting. I never use a dome, if they look a little rough Ill give em a spray of water.

Funny story I was training a plant and I accidentally broke off about a quart of the plant. I tr4immed the end and jammed it in a plug, all was fine for a few day then she started to go limp so I trimmed off some of the bigger leaves and gave her a spray of water and she looks to be rooting. If your clones are struggling take a look at the leaf mass possibly too.

First time trying to take a big cut, looks a little rough but I think she will make it... Any advice for big cuts? She went limp after like 4 days and i thought Id lose her but she perked up after I chopped a shitload of leaf...

hey tony

most guys i know, if they want to root a branch, will just put it in a glass of water, they way my grandma used to root keeper tomatoes or flower specimens on the window shelf

I've always use the clone bubbler. Usually 7 days till roots. You use any standing water in this method? I used to have my cut end submerged under a half inch or so ,till roots appeared

hi firegod

i made one of those once. i think that there are the open air guys and the standing in water guys.

rockwool has always been much more reliable when dealing with large numbers. more efficient space wise as well

Im giving this no dome thing a try now.

I usually use plastic bags over cups but have been having a shit time cloning latley. I have cuts that were taken way too late into flower and I need them to clone. Hopefully it works out, so far so good.

i have found that this method only works with rockwool

I use peat too with domes, however I know of another grower who uses the same technique as med man with great success, never tried this technique before myself but would like try it on future grows, it seems really easy and takes away the issue of the Rockwood being too wet which is a huge plus for rookies on top of that no dome? Seems pretty efficient to me
