im surprised it lasted as long as it did since it was turning into "hit me up if you want to trade" thread....and that is against the tou...plus i was sick to frickin death of the same fucking questions over and over again...if people could only bother to read the thread would have been 100 pages tops...

Pulled the trigger on a bike

Pulled the trigger on a bike

Finally made up my mind and just bought a bike.....told them to go thru it and detail it and whatnot and I will pick up in the morning. Got a Specialize Sirrus Sport :woohoo:

Now...still looking at seeds so I can place an order....they all look good...just like all the other bikes I looked at.

Gonna force myself to narrow them down to 5 and send off order tomorrow.

I'm far from a Southerner, as I'm about to demonstrate..

We took a trip to Atlanta last spring, and we're walking around the fancypants hotel, and I'm noticing.. "Honey, look at the mulch.. Is that all.. Is that f*cking pine needles?!" And literally, 3-6" deep. Pine needles.

Ended up meeting up with a local-to-the-area ICmagger, and he informed me that that's apparently a thing down South, to mulch with pine needles.. ?!

yea we use pine straw,an pine bark,to mulch every thing.

Pinestraw goes for $3.50 to $4.00 a bale here and is most popular mulch around these parts.

Funny.....they even sell synthetic pinestraw now for landscaping. That has to be really good for the enviroment, whatcha think? Lasts 5 years I think?

im just following a path laid down by others...
i dunno, seemed pretty simple to me,when i looked back at the periods of life when i was happiest there was always a bike involved....plus i have been fortunate enough to see some beautiful parts of the world so blah blah tree hugger nonsense yada yada..lol,fuck it,i admit its just a great way to be a kid again!

they make a good bike, you should be happy with it...
let me give you a tip about riding....slow down, enjoy yourself....if you're just starting up riding start with short rides,15-30 minutes in length, its better to go out every day for 15 minutes than to try a 5 hour weekend ride, thats just going to hurt and then the bike starts to collect dust.on the second week start adding another 15 minutes to your ride so you are getting 4 1/2 hour rides in per week.the third week make 2 of your rides 45 minutes and keep up with the short rides as many days as you can.at the end of the first month you should be doing hour long rides and should have enough saddle time to have a good feel for the bike...
the important part is SLOW DOWN!! if you're out of breath you're going too fast, pick an easy gear, stop if you feel like it,enjoy it...

Thanks for the advice Unc....I plan on taking it easy when riding. We have very nice paved trails here. I really enjoy the outdoors so think biking will blend right in w/ my lifestyle.

i think its one of the main benefits of being on a bike is you get to see the world at human speed...people in cars always look so stressed out to me...even on days that it sucks i still far prefer to be on a bike...

heres my answer doc....learn to fucking read!! lol

well the trailer seems to tow just fine behind the camber,if with the suspension unlocked it just tracks along like normal...thats awesome since it vastly expands the range of trips i can take on the camber....there is a ton of stuff that can be done on dirt forest service roads here....i mean loads and loads and mile after mile....
in another year i should be a half decent mountain bike rider and have all the bits and bobs of gear together....by then i will have ironically spent enough to have gotten a used pickup truck with a camper shell which of course would do approximately the same things but what fun would that be? they give any idiot a drivers permit, you need to be a special idiot to do it on a bike...
