hey Pakalolo,

So did you mention how you were growing before? I'm going with coco and DTW to begin with.

I was a ProMix grower with bottled nutrients. I was thinking about switching to DWC hydro when I came across some posts on organic growing. I did some reading of organic threads and after a few hours of that decided to go with organics. I'm about 4 weeks away from my first organic grow harvest. This has been the biggest buds I've grown so far. That's over 25 years with ProMix/bottled nutrients. I'm not going back.

Hi pakalolo,

from the sound's of it, the watering frequency is still increasing. Soon enough those plants will pack on the weight and I imagine they will need a bit less water. That would be a bit different than DWC or even promix i imagine. I guess the fatter bud's hold quite a bit of water so even when the soil goes a bit dry they will drink a bit less than the stage you're at now. I'm sure it's strain dependent, it will be interesting to take note's of

Since you are leaving it up to the microbes to supply nutrients and water as they please.

I hear you on watering. Actually I'm a lift the pot type watering. I usually try to let it dry out some but not totally. When I do water it is to moisten the soil and not soak it. Water is one of the few skills that transfer over from bottled nutrients to organic growing. My plants are getting thirsty now as they are putting on buds but they will slow down in a couple of weeks as the buds finish.

I haven't shown any pictures of MTV since January 14, 2013 so I thought it was time to share.

It looks like to me maybe another 7 - 10 days and I can start some clones. The leaf shape and color is different from Eminem so I think I'm working with different genetics. I don't know whether this is sativa or indica dominant but it is hard to tell if this is looking male. It is stretching a little but not as much as Eminem did. I'll find out soon.

This is the Trainwreck 2 that was having the PM problem. It looks like I've got it under control for the time being. I'm using CC's recipe for IPM.

Here are two new babies born into my organic dream. On the left is nocturnal and on the right is Goblin Queen. I just put some Mazar, GQ and Noc seeds into water the has Ful-Power per the instructions. I'm going to let them soak until I get home from work tomorrow then I'm going to try the SST method using barley to see if I can get them to pop. I haven't had much experience with seeds but I'm learning as I go.

I haven't hesitated to expose PM issues that I'm having. Not all my grows come off without any problems. My Pineapple Express is having the most problem with PM. This is the end of the sixth week of flowering and I'm going to pull the plug on her soon. During this last week I took most of the fan leaves off her. So she looks like she is ready to be harvested. I was looking at the trichomes and they are cloudy so she may not be fully mature. I'm okay with that.

Here are the other 3 ladies in the group. OG Kush is still showing some leaf damage but I'm not seeing a lot of spider mites. So I hope to get her to harvest without much more problems. Pitbull is having some leaves with PM but nothing like Pineapple Express. Trainwreck 1 is looking like a fir tree instead of a marijuana plant. She has 3 branches pushing towards the light. They're tight bud and not plumping up. This is what I don't like about her and the reason she is gone from my rotation. I think this would be a dispensary favorite with the way she looks.

So this week was special for the 2 ladies that are finishing their 4 week. They each had a branch pollinated. It looks like the pistils are turning brown and shrinking. I'll find out in a few weeks. The picture I took of Mildred was a little blurry so I'm going to take another one soon. I've got a pool tournament this weekend so I don't know when I'll be able to snap that shot.

Hi Pakalolo, I have not used the SST for a while but I am struggling to remember a mention of its use with germination? If you are trailblazing this test it will sure be interesting to learn more about. I seem to recall the SST could be replaced with malted barley, and then again have no idea how that would affect germination. I just sprouted a couple Mazar as well, as the mazar/NH hybrid i made. The bud's turn purple and are really dense. That's why I cut a few of the female's from (mazar/NH) that batch down Last week. The density makes me narvous (about PM).

I harvested Pineapple Express this morning and have her hanging to dry in my storage closet. I was worried that the PM would start attacking the flowers. It's my first experience with PM in my whole growing career so I'm not sure what to expect.

Here is what I did. I got a jar and added some organic barley seeds (not the ones where the hull has been removed) and put some cheese cloth over the top and held on by a rubber band like in the old hippy days. I rinsed them often for a day and a half. It important to get a few rinsing before using them.

Then I got an old t-shirt and cut two pieces the size of a quart ziplock bag and but them in the ziplock and placed the starting to sprout barley seeds between the 2 pieces of t-shirt. I did this so I can put the soaked seeds on top and be able to watch them and not get them lost is a bunch of barley sprouts. I soaked my seeds for almost 2 days in water where I added Ful-Power mixed per the instructions for 1 gallon. It was 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon in 1 gallon of water.

Then I soaked the t-shirt to get it wet and closed it up. I'll probably open it up daily to let some air in but I'm not sure. This is my first time doing this so it is an experiment.

welcome to organic's choom!

Pakalolo, It's surprising to me that you have not dealt with PM before. what do you attribute it to? I had to kill PM in june when I forgot to wash the pollen off my garden and after a few days i realized that it could also be mildew. I was enjoying watching the pollen smothering thrips so much i forgot about PM. Then I misted everything down with garlic tea and it went away. I was glad to still have cuttings from before this whole incident and that's the garden I am blooming now.

the mazar sprouts have purple cotyledon's, they are so adorable at this stage

I just never had seen PM on any of my plants in the 20 years I've been growing in my cellar. I don't ever remember before that having to deal with PM. I've read in the forum where PM in the PNW is a big problem. I didn't have a problem until I brought dispensary clones into my area. I'm getting it under control and am hoping to eliminate it.

You see I grow for myself with clones that didn't have any problems. I would get spider mites but that's expect living in the middle of evergreen forest.

I guess from what I understand about PM, I just got lucky.

So yesterday I spent from 9:00am to 2:00am in a bar playing in a pool tournament. We got to the last game where if we win we come back on Sunday and are guaranteed $180 ($60 each). The last game took almost 20 minutes to play by our 25 year old teammate who has really improved this last year. The opponent is someone who has been playing for about 30 years. A big safety battle and our teammate finally gets the better of it and has ball in hand with his 3 remaining balls and the 8-ball. he runs them out and has a tough long cut shot. Makes the shot but scratches. We lost and I get home around 2:30am. So I was pretty much missing in action all day yesterday.

Here's the picture of Mildred.

I know nothing of pool but that story was a slow build up of last second tie-breaker sports frisson for me, I'm sure you guys already have a strong chance for next year along with how good your young player is compared to the seasoned pro, he can only get better! How long do you practice?

I really like the fingers and structure of Mildred, I'm wanting to know her lineage and traits expressed..REALLY love those fingers :tiphat:

I don't know about the rest but I tried to hit balls about 20-30 minutes a day. Then I play in leagues on Monday and Thursday. I also met up with one of my teammates 2 times a week and practice for about 2-3 hours. Even that isn't enough to do more than maintain my shooting ability.

Mildred is a clone I picked up from a dispensary. I asked about her and was told not much is know. The name came from the original grower who lived south of the US and grew her in the basement. Whenever he went down to take carry of the plants he would say he was going down to see Mildred. I chose this clone because I just liked the looks of her. So we both see something in her.
