I like your style here, clean and fairly simple.

I have no idea what mainline training is... can you elaborate?

sure, I'll make an update in a sec about it because I feel a lot of growers don't know about this yet; I've been growing for 7 years and have just discovered it myself for example lol

Subbed. Nice setup. Like a hospital. How much square footage do you plan on utilizing under those 2 600's?

thanks man, it's a 5'x10' space but I'll most likely only utilize 4'x8'. I built it bigger to give the girls more space to breathe and spread out under the lights.

...so 4'x4' under each light to answer your question

Appreciate it man, thank you! And yes, "the Rev" is the TLO God that I referred to above. I just ordered his book actually, "True Living Organics - the guide to growing all natural marijuana indoors". It's supposed to be VERY good, sorta like Teaming with Microbes but more focused on cannabis-specific info. But youre right, it's all about feeding beneficial bacteria and fungi to the soil so the microbes thrive; because when your microbes are happy then your girls are happy.

OH, and I'll just post an update regarding main-lining to fill you guys in on what's been happening in the past month or so... stay easy bro

MAIN-LINING

MAIN-LINING

"Main-Lining"

"The act of training a cannabis plant to form a "hub" or "manifold" off a single node, creating a center for equal energy distribution from the roots to each cola."

- NugBuckets

So I'm pretty excited guys...

I'm venturing into this new training technique I heard about through a guy called "NugBuckets". The point is to create massive colas that all are similar (sometimes exactly identical) in size, making not only a more efficient drying/curing process but increasing your final yield, air flow throughout your garden, and efficiency you create by providing a flat and even canopy for your HID's to shine down on. This only adds a few weeks to veg time, so time your runs out accordingly. OH, and not to mention... your girls will look sexy AF when this is done right lol

Before main-lining (topped once)

After main-lining
*NOTE - I used garden staples to stick in my soil after tying my initial support string to; but there is a number of other methods to secure your shoots to. NugBuckets uses wire to attach the mains to the trunk for example

The goal here is to top your 5th node from the bottom, then remove any growth below this point down to the stem like I did above. If anyone can notice, I topped at the 3rd node here before I planned/discovered main-lining. I felt the plant was vigorous enough to handle it, so I went ahead and performed the main-lining anyways. This doesn't always play out in your favor though...

picture.php

After finding success in the "test plant" I went ahead and main-lined the rest of the nursery. This is where I was too impatient, and should've waited an extra week for the less-vigorous girls. Well, lesson learned! I had to toss 2 girls that were stunted from too much being chopped off too early. It's not a loss IMO; I've learned not to get upset over these little mis-haps anymore because they're all valuable learning experiences, and will make us a wiser grower in the long run

...And that's what we're all striving towards, right? :tiphat:

picture.php

This is my tester plant post-recovery.

As you can see, I've removed all growth besides my (now 4) new "mains". Everything will now grow symmetrically from this point on, since each top is the same distance from the root mass. I've supercropped the original two shoots in attempt to keep a more compact canopy compared to space-consuming bushes. They'll still end up bushing out, but without that circle of "dead space" in the middle of the plant. I used a tie to support the supercropping until she fills out and can hold her own weight so-to-speak. Although, you'll find that keeping your first and second sets of supports will be unnecessary after a bit as your girls grow older and stronger.

You can find a much more detailed "how-to" in the link below if this sparked any interest out there; happy main-lining folks!

looks very interesting I had a simple effect on my Purple og18 as she grows very symmetrical I topped every branch at the same time till she had about 21 tops all even. cant wait to see your results

try it again, it works for me!

Read the post I made about ^ main-lining it says the advantages of it

I suppose I should have expanded my question. I get the advantage of equal size colas, but if it costs you a couple weeks extra veg, you'd be much better off just using two single cola plants instead. At least from a yield per crop and crops per year perspective. So what's the advantage? Interesting method no doubt, I just don't see the pro's outweighing the cons. Maybe I'm over looking something though?

Clean grow man, you're a pro with the panda plastic. I built a tent in my last garage..a couple of em actually, and it looked like trash bags covering 2x4's compared to yours. props

It increases yield compared to two tops, because you can control the canopy height as they grow and stretch into flower.

So instead of having plants with all different internode heights, wouldn't it be more efficient to have a completely flat and even canopy for you HID's to shine down on? It makes sense IMO, when it comes to efficiency. And with efficiency comes yield, especially when your scrog this technique with a 16-32 cola plant. I think NugBuckets said he got 7.5 oz from 32 colas compared to the same clone he only topped 3 times (16 colas). He still pulled 6 something off of that girl though, so not bad if you ask me lol

This is also a big experiment for me personally, depending on how this goes will depict my outdoor training strategies this summer. So I'll def keep you guys posted on how my final yields were...

Thanks man, don't you love symmetrical plants?! They make life so much easier lol

thanks bud, appreciate that! I had a week or two in between crops so I took my time building the room.. I wanted to make it nice for once.

haha hey, it's not how it looks it how it works. Like they say.... if it aint broke don't fix it! :good:

hahaha I've been there!

So clean microbe! lovin it :dance013:

cheers man, thank you

Nice build TM.

I'm assuming that is your fan in the box?Sound proofing? How did it turn out for ya?

Good man, and it's easy to make too. I built it out of some particle board laying around in my garage and cut one of those cheap foam mattress covers up to act as sound absorption inside the box.

Honestly, it works better than those inline mufflers and costed me nothing lol. Took the engine noise from a 10 to a 2. Just make sure your fan isnt touching any foam and has enough room to breath inside the box if you make one, that's the only thing I can see going wrong is a fan over heating. Mine isn't even warm though and it's only an inch away from the walls...

Diggin that mainlining. Gonna have to give that a whirl.

Thanks man, it's PRIME for outdoors... but can def be pulled off indoors given a few extra weeks of veg. I'm secretly looking forward to the outdoor season I'm doing this to practice main-lining before the big show lol

I´m gonna lurk in the back and learn a few tricks.
First i´m copycat that sound proof box ;) Not really, it´s just that i´m making one quite similiar, cool to know that you´re having good results with yours.
Very clean&tidy, nothing like around here.
Thanks for sharing it and please keep up the green work

The room looks great and the plants look great. I also like the style involved, easy on the eyes. This is my first thread subscription, think its gonna be a good one, thanks.

I also top and tie, a bit different but cant wait to see how this goes. I do it for a few reasons, keep the plants short and open up the middle but also my plants are fairly set in place so when I tie down it is also to fill an open space in the canopy.

gonna check in often.
