OPT OUT FROM ONLINE BEHAVIORAL ADVERTISING

I found this site, which scans your computer and tells you how many companies are tracking you, and they give you the option of "opting out" of tracking. I was surprised to see over 100 companies, most of which I never heard of, were tracking me. I opted out of all but two, which could not be accomplished for unknown reasons.

THATS A BIT MISLEADING, OR YOU DIDN'T READ IT RIGHT. IT DETECTS YOUR BROWSER AND TELLS YOU HOW MANY COMPANIES MAKE AD'S THAT TARGET THAT SPECIFIC BROWSER. THE SITE ITSELF SEEMS TO BE AN ADVERTISEMENT OF SOME SORT. HAS THAT SAME LOGO AS ALL THOSE SHITTY POPUPS WITH VIDEO WHEN YOU ACCIDENTALLY MOUSE OVER A LANDMINE OF ADSENSE LINKS IN A PAGE YOU VISITED.

Actually, I did read it right. I know what it does. It allows you to opt out of identifying cookies in your browser, so they cannot have adds specifically tailored to you, and are not tracking you. You will still see adds, but they will not be tracking adds. You can also set your own cookies in your browser to prevent said companies from tracking you:
"Opt out of browser-enabled interest-based advertising by some or all participating companies, using opt-out cookies to store your preferences in your browser;
Anything that minimizes tracking is a plus for me.
It's bad enough they are spying on us constantly.
I'm trying to make it more difficult, even though it may ultimately be a losing battle.

i dunno what you're reading but it clearly says "DETECTS YOUR BROSWER" not detects who's tracking you. how can it even scan your cookies which are files stored on your local hard drive without you approving a plugin to download and run? do you know anything about computers? it can't just access your hard drive because you visited a site. thats called a trojan/ malware.

you ain't missing much. when the page loads it plays a flash animation tyhat makes it look like there is some sort of search/scan going on purportedly in your browsercache in your windows system files...as ridiculous as that sounds...all just from you visiting the site. if i had that kinda control i would be installing ransomware on people's computers not running cookie scans...but anyway.

after that animation plays it shows you what are supposedly your cookies. i didn't really take notice what they said specifically but most likely some cookie names from sites people would go to normally, or some shit you never heard of so they can scare the shit out of you. OMG LOOK AT ALL THE ADS ON MY COMPUTER!!!

may be legit tools, may be ransom ware. but i assure you nothing will happen on your computer till you click that link and allow them to "protect you from all the ad's"

fucking activex controls would allow shit to run on your computer when you went to the site. google code red, nimda, and win95.cih for more info on why the website did NOT automagically fucking scan your computer and tell you all about all the ad's on your machine like i said in the first place.

speakeasy is a flash app. obviously it was already allowed or else it wouldn't work. same for any plugin. you have to allow it.
