I have a 400w MH running in a aircold hood with a ghetto fan
pushing hot air out the back and the exhaust fan on medium above it.

The pool on the right (pool 2) is filling faster now
(I guess shit settled)
so I'm pulling the floods back to 3 minute's ..

Pool 1 gets 2 minute pulses.

As a bonus
I've placed 1 of 2 nimtree's into pool 2.
We'll see how it does ...

Hey AD what happened you giving up on vert. For the time being? Gotta love trying out new things. Like me and my coco with no ph up or down so far results look very very promising.

Nope,I veg horizontal and flip vert...

Having only begun my VERT education this season will a chance to see if I've learned anything...

Should be Vertical with~in 10 days...

I want to veg vert for 7-10 more then
flip the 1st pool with 4 x F13's

Most of what is in the pools will be culled
as I'm only after 2-3 of each strain...

I really want to monocrop this season so
I may cut most of what's in the pools and go
with the best 3-4 strains....

Coco is the bomb dude...
Glad to hear things are looking good down
the easier path...
Straight to the golden nugs,
bypassing the up's & down's...:woohoo:

Green vibes headed your way....:ying:

AD you have more balls then I do I could never just cull a plant what if it's the next "elite" and you never will know because you culled it? Well that's my theory anyways anytime I wanna kill a seedling or plant I start thinking of reasons why I should keep it and reasons why I shouldn't and usually I talk myself right out of culling it.

Especially if they are seeds that I made or a random Seed or couple seeds I found in one of my Buds I grew. I do know what you are saying though sometimes a culling is in order like my animal cookie seed I have growing the ugly P.O.S I have seen strecthy as all hell it might get culled but i keep taking myself out of it. Peace mike

The very idea of offing my little ones is killing me...
Yet....

If I want to get any where with my goal's.
I got to learn to let go and get selective...

lol.. The ugly ones are easy...
Its the tall, leafy ones that are hard to cut...:violin:

Man, I wish my GF smoked....:joint::smoker:

Mine doesnt smoke either....REALLLY wish she did. Hahaha

I've got her on the CBN steeze for her epilepsy, but thats about it. She will do like 1 dab every harvest, just to be able to tell me that I grow awesome pot, which is extremely helpful for my ego, and my grower insecurities.

Spark it up in the truck and like 3 seconds later she's like...

Why did you give up on LED for veg? Can you notice faster growth with the CFLs?

With the LED i have,I cant over the entire pool...
300W 3' x 2' foot print...
Lots of juice for a small foot print...

And...

I do see much better veg growth under CFL...
If place close with a fan blowing up or across the bulbs.
Tight internode spacing and fast growth once they get going.

LED rock for frosty flowering though...

Every tool has it's place...

IMHO that is....:ying:

Alien Dawg, these PPK pools are an inspiration! I was thinking of switching to coco PPK trays and found all your glory when searching for others experiences.

Does coco alone do well with the pools? Should an alternate media be used for the tailpieces to avoid coco drainage issues? I've only used coco or perlite or both in PPK buckets but never used trays in any context.

I'm wondering about doing all coco 3ftx2ft PPK trays SOG horizontal style... I'm guessing an alternate media should be used for the tailpieces? I hate perlite (awful lung damaging, drain clogging dust) and don't know what to use. For my current run I'm using hydroton tailpieces but they don't wick. I guess wash off enough 8822 to fill all the tailpieces? (can't do any outdoor screening :( and don't have Alien Dawg's indoor screening skills lol) If Alien Dawg or anyone else could give any advice I'd greatly appreciate it!

:tiphat:
Thanks for the props....
Good ta know someone gets a kick out of it...lol

I've tried just about every mix ratio of coco/perlite,yet never just straight coco... Wouldn't suggest it..lol
I miss coco/perlite 60/40~70/30 with pulse feeds...
Easy auto pilot mix with few headaches for me.

I've been thinking about the tail piece issue myself...
Having used smart pots and air pots,
I've avoided some issues found with coco in the tail piece.
(clogging)

Having played in CC/Perlite I now understand the futility of the perlite mixed with CC... May as well poor it on top the CC...lol

CC has almost no wicking ability though and I find I need quite a high water table to get any moisture staying in the pools between floods.

Im going to try a CC/coco combo in the next tail
pieces with pool im setting up soon for flowering.
Something like 70/30 CC/coco...
With a straight CC bed on top
I would like to be able to have a lower water table in
the lower pool and thing this will give me that option...
We shall see if the coco floats to the top as the perlite did..lol

I need at least 1 run with straight CC in order to see if it feels right.
Yet.

I liked what I saw with the coco/CC with my BH run and think
I may end up going down that path...

Solid idea.... Just not sure about straight coco...

I believe 8822 is what D9 uses and he
has stated he no longer screens it yet
washes the shit out of it...
If your talking bed such as my pools...
With coco/? then,
I would think 8822 in the tail pieces and perhaps
even a 1-2" bed with the coco/? filling the rest of the bed...

Coco fibers will drain down into 8822 and if
no buffer bed to catch most of it
I expect it would fill/clog the tail pieces and compact
same as coco/perlite...
only taking a little longer...
Say the last 2 weeks of flowering..lol
I mean..ops....

If me....

I like the sound of 6"-8" bed of Coco/8822 60%/40% on a 1-2" bed & tail pieces of straight 8822...

Then again...

It's all alien to me...

You are using turface all sport, correct? Did you do anything besides screening before planting the clones/seeds? Just a tap water rinse, or was it soaked with nutrients also? Thanks

Yep... TFAS is my flavor of the day...
Tried to wash it as well...But... Tried being the key word....

I washed it in the buckets with a hose for 10-15 minutes each but had lots of dust on the bottom of the lower pool...

Its clean now...

The seeds have been no soak straight into the pool at an EC From .8 - 1.4

They love floods..lol

I even place one really deep 2" and it is showing up today...

Thinking deeper is better as it removes the helmet head and she looks to be the happiest of the new little ones...

That means that this seed was going under water for at least 30-40 seconds every 90 minutes...

I find that interesting...lol...

As for clones....

Im seeing bigger is better in this set up...
But I need to do more test before I know anything solid....

I have the water level coming to less that
an inch away from the rim in 3 minutes and drains in less than 1.

Have you grown GSC Alien Dawg? Or just purchased some...

I got my GSC as a clone...
I've grown it out twice and made a few
different type beans from her.

By far the most I ever paid for a clone and yet...
The best $ I ever spent on a plant....
