Best LED for replacing 1000w?

it was science to the max, my tent was overgrown from some tall chemdog on my first run of it, plus a tall plant my brother gave me.

So I did the only logical thing, convert my bedroom and threw more plants into flower with the added room. These plants did a total of 29 oz's, but i cropped some 12 week plants at 9 which dropped the yield substantially. I also had the 4x4 T5 in action with the 2700k bulbs, and the 500w blackstar was out of commission for about 3 weeks when it broke.

and here's the larger of the two chemdog phenos

when it was overgrown i was lazy and tried to tie it over, it got a funky shape but did 6 oz of some super dense bomb nugs. the smaller one only did 2oz.

Rives,
i went ahead, primarily on your advise and purchased a Es 330. Do you get good yields using yours. I'm looking forward to it's arrival and hope for some good results thanks for the info~~

Well, I hope that you enjoy yours as much as I have. Once you get your hands on it, you will see that it is a damn impressive piece of workmanship. In a GL80 tent (32" x 32"), I usually run 3 plants in a scrog and I average around 10+ oz's per run. I've played around with adding a couple of 55w PL-L lamps for supplemental lighting, but haven't really noticed a hell of a lot of difference with them. They do make it far easier to see what is going on with your plants, however. Please keep us posted on how the ES330 works out for you.

I'm taking your advice on backing off on the distance. My plants are experiencing what your show with the Thai plant and curled leaves.

Phycho Got a question based on your antidote "Also, the plants can get close to the blackstar with no bleaching, the advancedled fixtures need to be 18-30".... i tried testing it @ around 12 and the tops started to turn white."

Maybe this is ambient temp related, but all things being equal wouldn't the grower be better off with lights higher above the canopy? And would a dimmer allow one to adjust height?

Definately look around at prices and par values to see true potential of the lamp as posted it is going to be expensive but most leds beneifts come from less heating/ventalation cost and energy draw. To truely replace a 1000w lamp it will require at least 600w of leds to beat or match the par rating and actually yield what your expecting. The one company I use and love is apache tech there new model draws 660 watts here's the websitehttp:// http://www.apachetechinc.com/white-red/25-at600.html there videos on youtube showing par readings at 3000

If you are patient, you can have the Chinese people make a custom LED panel for you. You must know exactly what you want and be able to communicate to people who can build Led panels, but know nothing about their use.

255 5w leds, no veg/flower switch [all leds burn at all times. This light is only used in veg] Same color spectrum as the Black Dog 750u veg color spectrum.

My ride height is 2-2 1/2 ft minimum. You can be too close with it. Covers a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 area with primo light. The plants in the area outside that grow kinda one-sided toward the center of the light and are subsequently positioned around my DIY vert cooltube in flower. The center plants are flowered under a horiz light.

Due to the cost of shipping, I'll handle any warranty issues myself. I didn't have to pay customs.

I grow perpetual, so I didn't want that veg/flower switch that basically turns off leds. You have 255 leds and only 180 of them burn at any given time?? Bullpucky! All my leds burn all the time. Again, this is a veg-only light.

I don't know the actual wattage draw yet. But in my 4x4 veg area I don't think I could use anything more powerful. So far, I'm happy with it. I did curl leaf tips and fry the chlorophyl [sp?] out of the leaves. I had to learn to use it properly.

Hope this helps. Have a nice day. bg

Hey, I lied about the number of leds. Actually, I have 244, not 255. Sorry.

Apache is a pretty legit company. Don't they do gov't research as well? They also cost a pretty penny...

they are legit.. very

just because they designed something for NASA doesn't mean they have there head on straight.. hell there shit is weak for NASA testing in my eyes.. I could go in there and make a better model in one day

yes they cost, as there using nichia chips, and right now the newest ones, which are suppose to be 150 lumens a watt.

problem is no testing in pot plants.. only some internet grow sites, and using CW chips.. horrible for flowering.. and no 660..

to me a overpriced veg light.

There is a thread on RIU that is quite convincing, but they are $$$$$. A51 is a reasonably priced alternative, with lots of grows

I hope to have the new 2014 White model to do a grow here
