Day F49

Day F49

Hello AlterEgo860. No, that plant is not pregnant but it is finishing prematurely. It was the first to bud up but I think the real culprit is overfeeding. I have a couple of plants with very dark green leafs (darker than expected) and some have lighter colored leafs showing signs of nute burn. I was feeding them 25ml PBP per gal (as per the instructions on the bottle). I don't have an EC meter but IC OVO has informed me that 10ml per gal PBP translates to about 1200ppm and I've been feeding more than double that.

Although it's late in this flower cycle, I gave them a feeding of straight water and will lower the nutes to 10ml/gal until final flush. My plants didn't stretch like I expected and I'm thinking this is a result of overfeeding too. All of this being said, I'm still expecting a decent harvest, and plan to have the next crop (clones) dialed in much better.

I'm gonna scope the trics on the premature plant this weekend. Looking at the pistils it looks like the plant is almost finished but looking at the buds, they look smaller than they should. I expect this plant will be chopped within 10 days.

So, from this we can conclude that I'm a slow learner and I've been torturing my plants with kindness. I'd better smoke a big fatty to help ease my conscience. :)

Ok, so I had a blonde moment. :) I was watering the clones and have been giving them 10ml/gal and they seem to enjoy that. I was advised by a couple of people that as low as 5ml/gal can work even better so I thought I'd give a feeding or 2 at that rate. I only needed a liter of liquid but carefully measured out 5 ml of PBP and added it to my water and watered the clones with it. As I was walking the dog shortly after, I realized my blunder (4 times desired concentration). When I got home I flushed all the clones with plain water and breathed a sigh of relief. The clones are well rooted now and the high concentration was only in the pots for an hour or so but I've been beating myself up over it since. I don't think I caused any serious harm but it's sure a good thing I caught the mistake. When I told mrs smilley about my gaff, she asked "did you smoke a reefer before you watered?". When I replied "no", she said "that's your problem right there...". Ha

Haha, it happens. Hopefully no damage was done

Here's my nicest clone, it rooted first and is ready to repot. I'll give it a day or 2 to dry out a bit from the flush and repot it and a few others.

Day F51

Day F51

The girls are digging the lower feeding regime and the one that had all red hairs is putting out white pistils again so I'm stoked. Hopefully they'll pack on some bulk over the next 3 weeks or so.

Bmac1 - I know you're running the slh, chocolope and cheese as well as the wifi. (pretty much my wishlist of strains) I'm curious if you have a favorite and if so, why? I almost bought the chocolope instead of the wifi after paging through killerweed31's thread. It looks killer. And the slh is available at the local headshop here and I've drooled over FiveLeggedGoat's thread for several years now. I have some cheese pollen in the freezer. It seems we have similar preferences.... Just thinking ahead to next season.

Glad to hear the feeding schedule is working out!

Right now I would say the wifi is my favorite but I will run them all again.

I had 4 phenos of the SLH have clones of all but 1 and that is the one I would pass on anyway. I will be keeping 2 of the 3 for future considerations. 1 is leaning heavy on the lemon skunk side, smells like lemon candy and the other a longer finisher leaning more to the SSH side. I will likely narrow it down to keeping one of them after another run or two.

The chocolope, I had 2 of them and they were a bitch to grow the whole time. Very finicky strain compared to the others. It yeilded the least but that didnt surprise me with the issues along the way. The bud I did get though is nothing short of fantastic. Dense, trich covered nugs that stink/taste of ripe cantaloupe and hits hard. I have more seeds of this and hope for more successful run of it.

The cheese was a pity plant from a bunch of seeds I tried to pop. The cheese was the only one of a bunch that germed. I needed a space filler and decided to throw one in and it turned out to be a nice plant. Good yeilder, frosty as hell, nice flavor and stone to it too.

IC OVO - I can't thank you enough for the input on the PBP. :) Shit, I'd still be feeding them at 20ml/gal and wondering what the hell was going wrong. Sometimes a guy can't see the trees for the forest.... Even the big droopy fans are starting to reach for the light and the paler green leafs are taking on a much more even healthy appearance. The buds are fattening up daily. Realistically, this crop won't be the greatest, it'll be much, much better than it would have been. :thank you:

Bmac1 - Hey, thanks for the feedback. I was seriously looking hard at the chocolope for next season but I think I'll leave it be. If you had issues, I can only imagine the dogs breakfast I could turn a run of it into. Here's how wildgrow discribes the smell of his slh x mm, it's hilarious.......

"Still surprised at the piss smell, and now poo too. Lots of names for sure, but not for a chuck - seems dishonest to me. I keep thinking the obvious Super Lemon Madness but maybe Peepoo would be more fitting - or Kitty Litter. "Yo, bro, wanna smoke some kitty litter?" How about The Cats Ass? "This? Its the cats ass!" I hope I get phenos like yours. Are those odors strong or subtle? How much comes through in the flavor?"

Lol. 3 of my SLH had a lemon candy smell to them and one with a peppery spicy smell. Glad I didnt find a peepoo pheno.

Next Crop - Full Speed Ahead

Next Crop - Full Speed Ahead

picture.php

I went ahead and repotted the 8 plants for next crop. The roots were white for the most part but not particularly dense. I fed them all 8ml/gal PBP and I'm crossing my fingers that the nute issues are behind me, There's only 5 wifi in the next cycle and 3 BC Kush.

The flowering crop should finish in 3 weeks or so but I'm not certain these girls will be ready to go that soon. I'd like to get them up to 20 inches before flowering and I could let them go for 5 weeks before flowering and still make my finishing date in early May. I'll just watch and see how they do and make a decision when I harvest the first crop.

Below is a pic of the cutting I took 4 1/2 weeks into flowering. It's been 3 weeks now, she's still green but no new growth yet. If it roots and revegges, I'm thinking of running it in the 3rd and final crop. Still lotsa trics on her....

regarding the pics of the bud above :they take a good while to come back ! think about 11 weeks in total before ready to go again! that may vary slightly strain dependent ! but patients should be rewarded .all the best willyweed

Hi willyweed. Thanks for the info dude. I've never cut one that deep in flower and the mother was heavily over nuted when it was cut. Right now, I'm at least 13 weeks from starting the final crop so it might work out ok. I'm still not certain that it'll survive along with a couple of other orphan clones but as long as I have the space I'll keep nursing everything along. I have another wifi cutting that is almost 8 weeks from cutting and it's been in a state of suspended animation ever since. I'm really impressed with the explosion of growth these wifi's show when they finally root. :)

This is my elite. It took all the abuse I could throw at it and never skipped a beat. It's going to be the biggest yielder and it's exactly what I was looking for when I ordered the seeds. Kudos to OG Rascal, a very nice hybrid....

This crop is getting close to finishing. I'll be harvesting in 2 weeks (day F73) for convenience sake but I'd say the harvest window will be open in about a week. I'm kinda disappointed in my effort on this seed crop. I managed to lose 2 of the 6 phenos during cloning and the lighter feeders took quite a shit-kicking from the overfeeding. It's gonna cut into the yield and maybe affect the taste a bit, I dunno. Hopefully I'll put on a better show next crop....

As long as you learned something that will help you next time, there is nothing to be disappointed with smilley bud. They look very nice and frosty. You will be loving that smoke in no time now. I know I am.
