6' 6" grow/veg cab --- 600w HPS

Used to have a smaller cab that we used for vegging. Since then I've upgraded to a 6 and a half foot armoire cab we are using for veg and flowering. For vegging I am using a a couple t5 lights running 24 hours. For flowering, a 600w HPS running 12/12. There hasn't really been a need for a carbon filter yet, the smell has been pretty low even though it has been a couple weeks into flowering.

2 mango kush(top right and top left) , Purple kush(Center front), Granddaddy purp(Left front)

Pulling up a seat for this one, have an extra 600w collecting dust. Mind if i pick your brain about specifics of this cab of urs? What are the demensions of the flowering room, what type of fan do you have exhausting? How are you dealing with the heat those things deliver?

Nice looking ladies you got there, real excited to see this one pan out!

the dimensions of the flowering room are 21 x 45 x 44. but with the light needing 12 inches and another 12 or so inches from the light, that only leaves about 20 to 24 inches of room for the plants to grow. to solve that we are gonna cut a whole in the top of the cab and mount the light on top. that way we can have clean, cool air for the light with a lot more room for the plants to grow. for the exhaust we got a regular desk fan and taped it to some duct and its working well.

So here is the cab after the remodel. because the light is sucking clean, cool air the temperature in the cab has dropped a good bit.

I have a few questions for you if you don't mind...

What are the temps reading @ canopy level?
Are you exhausting into the room?
If so how are you dealing with the heat? (big AC or something?)

I see the cab working well, just a bit concearned about the major heat those lamps put out in that small space, I ran a 600 over a table in a ~10x10 room and room temp went from ambient of 60 to about 80 with lights on. I'd imagine the same light in a small cab would be in the 100s. Sorry if i'm being redundant, would hate to see a preventable fire start, or a bunch of fried ladies. Very KISS.

Have you considered what you are going to do for odor control or is that not an issue?
With that much light in that space i'd imagine you don't even really need to put poly/paint up, not like you're starving for lumens.

Don't mean to bug ya, just wanted to address some concerns.

The temp is pretty stable at 80, I keep the air condition running to keep it cool, but since we moved the light out of the cab it is only sucking in cool air and not hot air from inside the cab.

I am beginning to see 1 or 2 gnats I think and they are getting to the plants. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

So here is my very first plant ever. Coming in the next few days will be the Granddaddy purp and purple kush. They are looking a little bigger than this one here.

But be carefull with that wood construction. It burns easilly and it cant handle moist or water properly.

Thanks for the tip Mike! I actually have been doing that with the clones that I just put into flower today. The plants that are about to finish up are my first grow so I didn't really know what to expect but I learned a lot and hopefully this next batch will turn out even better than the first one did!
