So I've been having real problems with this batch of clones. My cloning gel was a couple of years old and I think it was either contaminated or just dead. It wasn't just the wifi's, the BCK also rooted slow. The clones are 5 weeks old and only 4 of the 10 clones I cut are fully rooted. The others are starting to turn the corner but still looking sickly. I have to get this batch of clones into flower in 7 weeks or else I'll have timing issues with the following crop.

Sorry to hear about that. I switched from Clonex gel to Dip-N-Gro a while back because of the same issues.

Well, I have to get some new stuff so I'll give that a try if my hydro shop has it in stock. That's a powder right?

No Dip-N-Gro is a liquid. It comes in a small bottle and has a dilution beaker with it. You pour a small amount of D-N-G in the beaker, maybe 5 or 10ml, then fill the rest of the beaker with tap water. Just dip your cutting in it for 3-5 seconds and then plant. You only need to place the cutting in the solution maybe an inch or two. I've submerged 3-4 inches of the stem in the solution before and you will get roots wherever it comes in contact with the solution! It works especially well with aeroponic cloners.

Oh, and one bottle lasts FOREVER

i am pretty sure i have read they are hard to clone, one of the solutions was more heat !

IC OVO - Thanks for the info. I'll see if they have it in a smaller format.

willyweed - I heard they were hard to clone too. I didn't really give it much thought until I started having problems. I started out with the soil temps running between 79 & 82F, I thought maybe it was too hot so I dropped it to 75 - 78F. They just got worse and worse. I finally repotted them out of the six packs and went with no heat below. That seemed to help and now 3 of the clones are topped and vegging nicely. The others are turning the corner and I still have 48 days of veg to go. I'm pretty sure my problem was the rooting hormone. I'm just going to treat them as seedlings now and hope for the best.

I had a heck of a time getting mine to root too but I did have some temp/enviro issues.

Looking good though. Ive been smoking my wifi the last few days and it is definitely going to be a keeper for me. Great strength with a great balance of head and body, nice flavor and the big thing for me is that its great for anxiety.

I have been battling a bit of anxiety as of late and the wifi, at least one pheno, is a great relief.

Bmac1 - It's good to hear the wifi is helping your anxiety. I don't have anxiety issues but I have a sister-in-law who has them. Maybe it'll help settle her down. I'm after the flavor (and potency). I'm not going to say the wifi is hard to clone till I have another crack at it. I've had cloning issues all my growing life and they always end up being my fault and not the plant. Go figure?

how do you think they will yield smilley ? compared to anything else you grew? thanks willyweed

I certainly won't break any personal yield record on this seed run. That being said, there are a couple of phenos with excellent potential and a couple of phenos with less potential. 3 of the females were much slower to pistil up and the bud sizes are smaller than the early ones. They may catch up, we'll see. I think realistically, of the 6 wifis from seed, probably an average of 30g per plant. Some will be up around 40 and some closer to 20. I do believe with the right female from clone and a proper veg that I can achieve an ounce per gal of soil with 8 plants around the 600hps. That would translate to an lb per crop for me and I'd be ecstatic. Generally, anytime I can exceed 400g on a crop I consider it a big yield for me. I've never grown any of the big yielding strains like Critical Mass or Big Bud but the wifi will certainly yield as good as the Hawaiian Snow Diesel and Blockhead I grew last year.

These two plants will make up the third and final crop. The one above is the frostiest of all. It is also the shortest of all six so I'll run six clones of it under the 360 conversion bulb in the veg room. The one below is the second frostiest but has the biggest buds and the nicest overall appearance of the six. I'll run 6 - 8 clones of it around the 600hps in the flower room.

IC OVO - Yup, they're the frostiest I've grown. I'm really looking forward to tasting the bubble hash off the fresh trim and popcorn. Hoping for 5 or 6g depending on how generous I get with the popcorn. The buds have a long way to fatten up though. Still, it looks like some may go over 70 days so lotsa time to swell. The small plant (2 pics above) has 90% red pistols while the rest are only starting to change, maybe 10%. I'm thinking the small one will finish a week earlier than the others. I won't get the scope out for a couple more weeks.

I think I'm getting a feel for them now so next crop should be a better effort. I'll be interested to see the root masses after harvest. They're only taking up half the water of last years HSD. I'm really gonna focus on building root mass on the vegging clones. I backed off on the nutes after about week 4. I was feeding them 25ml PBP per gal but was getting some heat burn on the big fans near the lamp so I scaled back to 20ml per gal and everything seems good. No other additives except a little ph down to balance it. I also moved all the plants back about 2 inches from the lamp. It's a fine line between too close and too far.:)

PBP as in Pure Blend Pro? 25ml/g seems like a lot. My GSC doesn't like anything over 1200ppm, which is in the 10-12ml/g range and my heavy feeders don't like anything over 1400ppm (15ml/g). Even if your leaves don't show signs of nutrient burn, you could be harming your roots. When you chop. grab the remaining stump of stem and pull out the whole root mass from the bucket. If you see smaller, darker colored roots I'd experiment with a plant or two next run with a "less is more" approach. I believe you might see some good results. I fed heavily two runs ago (1500ppm) and when I backed down to the 1200-1300ppm range I saw more vigorous growth, even though my leaves never showed signs of nutrient burn.

IC OVO - Hey thanks for the advice. I'll be backing off on the nutes now as the plants approach finishanyway. But ya, I'd say the 25ml/gal was a bit much. Next crop I'll take em to 15/gal and see how they run. I'm currently feeding the clones at 12/gal veg and they seem to be lapping that up. I'm also adding potassium silicate to the veg nutes and that's helping perk them up.

I took this cutting 2 weeks ago when the mother was 32 days in flower. I stuck it in a dixie cup of water for 24 hours and then just stuck it in pro mix. No rooting hormone. Now I know it ain''t pretty, but I think it's almost ready to root and veg.

another thing.. I been doing now that ive been growing for a while.. if u want the best possible yield.. top your plants.. or LST them.. I ended up yielding the same from 60 plants then I did from 20 this round.. not to mention Its all giant colas and honestly ZERO buds for the hash bin lately.. so what I do is pull the smallest buds few zips put away for hash.. its a good system.. also.. found a good low light strain.. that I can grow underneath the canopy of the rest of my plants... especially with a 1000w bulb. as long as they are close enough and the buds are getting light.. I had gotten n extra Pound of goodies from some low light lovers in an area I wouldn't have normaly used.
