3" male and female conduit fittings. conduit fittings use machine thread and will go all the way down as shown in the second pic.

cutting it with a hacksaw is a bitch but if you cut a shallow ring all the way around it will cut straight enough.

the piece on the right is garbage after the cut.

the fittings screwed all the way down after the cut.

two almost identical shots of the same thing for some reason.

i use 14" wire ties to fasten the screen. (gutter screen)

i leave about 1/2" inch above the ties and run a bead of glue (amazing goop, plumbers edition) around it to keep the screen or the ties from coming off.

the fitting fully assembled.

you need a 3.5" hole for the fitting.

this requires a bucket lid with a 4.25" hole in it to keep it centered.

this also requires about 60-70 bucks worth of hole saws to do right.

Hey D9, is this tail piece working out better for you than the 3 tail pieces per bowl?

well, the tailpieces are 1.76 sq in each so all three are 5.28 sq in.

one 3" tailpiece is 7.06 sq in, 1.78 sq in greater than three 1.5" tailpieces or equivalent to a fourth tailpiece.

so it flows a little better for that reason.

a larger diameter tube is harder to block than a smaller one or a collection of smaller ones equaling the same surface area.

but also shown above is different screen. this is gutter screen which has a larger mesh than window screen. it is found on the shelf above the window screen at lowes.

the whole rig is more industrial and less likely to fail. i'm about to grow some really big plants in these and want to make sure they are up to it.

Any thoughts on Urinals filled with CC flooded/Pulsed every 90 minutes using clones for budsicles... Either cut to flower or 8-10 days VEG to flower.

I want to clone straight into these..

The tail piece will be screened but do you think I should fill the tail piece with CC or screen off up top ?

Not much room for roots....

don't eat the white thing in the urinal, it's not a breath mint!

so all we need is a condom blown up full of water to feed it and a kotex to wick off the excess and we are ready to rock and roll?

in the second pic what you need is a bunch of midgets who have been drinking a lot of beer.

theriously, though, where's the wick?

If you screened of the Kotex container and used it as a wick for the CC filled condom...
Hung at the right height for a PWT...
I don't see why it wouldn't work...

Coming right up my friend...

So my question would be...

Given the PWT would be a couple inches to
long and CC has almost no wicking ability.
In your opinion...
Should I use screen on the tail piece to keep CC out of it ?
In other words.. Just a drain pipe.
Perhaps allowing for better drainage ?
or
Use CC in the tail piece and see if the roots will travel ?

remember the white polyester batting that i used in my old cloners? put a piece of that through the tube to make a positive pathway for draining the pwt.

I made a bulkhead for my res using similar fittings. A threaded pvc slip joint and a couple conduit reducers(they look like washers) with some plumbers goop and a conduit locknut put a washer on either side of your res with a bead of goop and screw it down, works great and is cheaper than any other alternative I could find.. If I can get time to take a pic ill post it up, these days are busier than ever...
