@ Cannabis: I have a friend that is a Vietnam vet and he told me Jacobs' Ladder scared him worse than any other movie he's ever seen. His wife won't let him ever watch it again, it freaked him out so bad. I was a freaky movie and I can easily see how it would badly affect vets.

@ Warped: A matter of taste I guess. The first Evil Dead and Part II are practically identical story-wise. Part II is not a true sequel at all, but rather a remake. Evil Dead Part II got a better director and IMHO Bruce Campbell's acting chops were better in Part II. Plus, the possessed hand sequence was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I laughed so hard, I think my spleen flew out.

And that scene in American Werewolf In London was very trippy and disturbing. They got me bad with the dream within the dream at the end. I actually yelled. (hopefully it sounded manly and not like a girl's)

I'm trying to remember the name of a movie I saw, probably back in the 90's or so, the plot was about some friends who go to a movie theater to see a horror type movie. The movie they go to see happens to be about a psycho killing moviegoers in a movie theater. While they watch this movie, unbeknownst to them, a real killer is knocking people off when they go to the bathroom or go to get snacks.

Anybody know the name of this movie?

Nosferatu was often tossed into the Saturday matinee mix for us kids, a classic silent vampire film.

I loved to watch late night B-movies when I was a kid in the early '60s. I also liked Twilight Zone, Outer Limits and of course, Star Trek. We used to have two local TV stations that had one Friday night show hosted by my cousin Buddy Womack called Inferno and a Saturday morning show called Shock Theater. But I guess one of my favorites was The Thing with Kurt Russel and the first Alien movie. I saw a chick throw up in the aisle on opening night when that thing came out of that guys chest. Me and my date went and had a strawberry sundae afterwards. The Shining didn't scare me at all. Nothing scary about that movie at all for me.
People hate going with me to slasher movies because I always cheer for the bad guy. It's kind of like professional wrestling for me. And bull riding. I pull for the bull.

Watched The Conjuring last night and really enjoyed! What? No Pinhead fans here?! I liked the firsy two Hellraiser movies. Liked the first two Nightmares On Elm St movies also. Preferred the killer Freddy to the funny Freddy.

also watched the conjuring recently, it was good.

the haunting in Connecticut is also good, also based on a true story.

the black swan is good too, not classical horror, but pretty good.

I don't like slasher films, I like stuff along the lines of the original Exorcist, which is an awesome movie.

good horror movies are few and hard to find.

Enjoyed Haunting in Conn. also! Might have to check out Black Swan. Insidious was another movie I enjoyed.

Was watching parts of The Exorcist the other night. Excellent horror film, I wish I had watched it in its entirety but was absorbed in something else. Good shit never gets old.

lol, me & my cousins did sleepovers all the time back then, we also always watched the B grade horror movies every time no matter whose house we were at.

big problem when over @ uncle Jerry's though, he worked 6-7 days a week & was up before the sun each day to go to church, he actually had his own set of keys to the Catholic church.

anyways

if we got caught watching tv, talking/laughing etc after lights out we got a warning, if we got caught again (we almost always did) he'd come into the room with the Rosary beads, and all together we'd recite all 5 decades (50 prayers) plus the Apostles Creed in between each decade, 54 prayers & recitations in all. that was it, party over.

One night he cured us for good though, we were caught watching TV once again even after saying the entire Rosary, the bedroom door opened and... "Follow me boys," there were 3 cousins & myself and he marched us into the kitchen. He had the Rosary beads in his hands so killing us was out of the question, but he had an evil look in his eyes.

This was the early 60s, we were wearing our Buck Rogers (or whatever :)) jammies which uncle Jerry instructed us to roll up the legs of, he then scattered uncooked white rice on the tile kitchen floor and had us kneel on it, and recite the Rosary once again.

there hasn't been a horror film made that can match the sheer terror of getting caught thrice by uncle Jerry

those were the days.......
