Thanks guys.

Bud, my preferred method before has always been the traditional QWISO method. I'm actually not 100% sure yet how I'm going to go about processing this 12 ounces of trim, since it is so much than I've ever run before. I really don't want to do multiple batches, as QWISO already requires multiple runs per batch. But I do believe I will stick with QWISO. Nice and easy, doesn't require the use of compressed solvents, and the quality is superb (on that first run). :tiphat:

On a sad note...

My lemon skunk clones are dead. I screwed up. I neglected them during the harvest/drying/manicuring process. I have learned my lesson, and my wife is now going to help me keep everything going in the vegetative room from now on, specifically for times like harvest times, when I will be distracted and overworked. At any rate, the damage has been done already. I didn't want to bring it up in this thread before, because it was depressing news, and I was elated about my first 1000w harvest. But now that the elation has begun to wear off, I must update this thread.

I have already taken new cuttings to have something to go in the now-inactive 4x4 tent. But I didn't have enough cuttable branches on the lemon skunk mom, so I had to supplement with cuttings from the Stacked Kush mom. I'm still waiting on them to root, and as soon as they do they will probably (unfortunately) go directly into flowering, because I need to be completely harvested and dried by the last week of January, for vacation. That's the part that sucks the most about losing those lemon skunk clones... that I've been set back in time and I'm cutting it way too close now for my vacation.

Oh well. I suppose there are worse problems that can be had. :tiphat:

There's still time to devise an automated watering system, add a halon bottle just in case something goes horribly wrong. Hell, a Raspberry Pi & an internet camera would let you water when you want & watch from anywhere in the world.

Or not. I tend towards the simple side of it, myself, but just sayin', ya know?

Sorry to hear Hush! ;-//
On another note, I upgraded my HPS light to a 600watter in my 4 x 4 tent! I ordered the stuff from amazon, got the bulb the other day and the reflector and ballast yesterday... I hung the reflector with the 600w bulb, hooked up the ballast-and nada!! I tried the 400w bulb in the new Radiant reflector, but nothing as well. After fucking with it for a while I figured the best thing to do would be to use my old Daystar with the 600w bulb. I had the ballast turned down to 360w, and thought:wow!, nice-brighter than my 400w on superlumens! Then I tried to turn the ballast up to 600w, but it was already there! It was stuck on superlumens, wtf. I ordered the seller, am just waiting back on an email to figure out what they are gonna do... And the ballast didnt come with the adapter to run 120v! Lucky I already had, and used the one from my 400w. Sorry to clog your thread with my problems, just a little aggravated lol. And this thread is what inspired me to upgrade my 400w to a 600watter! I can't wait to see what my temps got up to tonight

No worries, I don't mind you unloading in here. :)

I feel your frustration, I do. I've been through that before, I think we all have at some point. It's worth it in the end, and it makes for good story telling, lol. Sounds like you are handling it properly. I hope your seller takes care of the problem in a timely manner for you. :)

I am happy to have inspired anyone to upgrade to a bigger light. I am someone who has been content growing under 150, 250, and 400 watt lights for over a decade now, and have always been very pleased with my buds. But if I had known that the larger wattage lamps were exponentially better than the small ones, I would have upgraded a long time ago. Hindsight is 20/20, right?

Now, to be fair, I will probably never stop using small lamps, because I like micro gardening, with a passion... It goes along with my love of bonsai, and miniature things. I have always kept more than one garden going at a time. But now I'm pretty sure that I will always rely on the 1000 for my required stash, while my micro gardens will be purely supplemental. It's just, knowing I can get half a years' worth of meds for my wife and me with one run puts a big grin on my face! :D

Thanks man... Yes it sucks lol, at least I am still gonna use the ballast for now with the daystar until they get stuff figured out. I was happy with the 400w, but things just got a little brighter

I have a fondness for 150 watt HPS, plenty of light for experiments or vegging but easy to work with. I'm still trying to decide on a 600 or a 1000. Available space and stealth are the issues I have to deal with.

I just finished vacuum-sealing the harvest. :D

This is 3/4 of a pound here. We've been smoking on the popcorn nugs all this time. I have never had enough weed to be able to experience a long cure, so I thought that it would be nice to purchase a vacuum sealer and jar it all up. With the help of fresh-picked fan leaves I had the buds stabilized at ~60% humidity for the past week, so I decided to stop burping them and seal them up.

I know that the buds won't "cure" so much while in the jars, but I doubt this is a perfect vacuum, and I'll bet there was still a little oxygen in there when they got sealed. I plan on just opening the jars once a week or so, which will allow me to smell the buds, and to play with my vacuum sealer afterward.

As soon as the popcorn is gone, I'll crack open a jar. I am curious to see if there will be any changes to the buds when I unseal a jar for the first time.. or if they will have cured at all.

High CO2 content can cause anaerobic bacteria to grow and ruin your crop.
I rather put the jars in the fridge, or for longer term storage - the freezer.

I have read all about people reporting the "sour" smell after popping a vacuum sealed jar, but my understanding is that this happens with bud that is too wet when it gets sealed? I honestly don't know. I just don't want my buds to dry out, and that always happened to me in the past, when I kept them in non-vacuumed mason jars. By the end of my harvest, I would be working with crispy buds that burnt to fast. Hmmm. Maybe I should experiment with only a portion of the harvest...

Also I heard that storing the jars in the freezer causes trichomes to be knocked off the buds with the slightest jiggling motions. It makes sense.

Big Steve, what size jars are those? Gallon? I couldn't find those anywhere, except for some decorative, throwback Ball jars in gallon size that used push-on lids instead of the screw on band-type. I must admit, I almost bought a few because they looked cool, but the push on lids seemed unusual to me, even though they looked like they would still get a nice seal.

I will check out your journal right now...

I believe they are gallon. These jars can be a little hard to find. They are sold at stores often during the canning season. They have them for sale at a crafting store close to my house. Can fit between 4-8 ounces in each jar.

My buds keep up well in the fridge - no problem.
And if the buds weren't too dry to begin with a closed jar should be enough to keep the moisture in.

Frozen buds do lose trichomes by the slightest touch, but after defrosting, which is pretty quick, the effect is gone.
Even if you do knock some off - you'll get some great kief in the jar when you reach the end!

Congrats on your grow Hush..Too bad about the lemon skunk clones too. So..you like the Speed Queen eh? I have a pk from 2006 .Maybe I should sprout a couple.
I've been keeping my weed in jars for years and imo..the buds definitely go through a change in smell and taste. 60% humidity sounds like a lot of moisture but after 10 yrs experience you should know what works for you :) thx for sharing the show with us..
