Hush, congrats on the magnificent harvest! If you have spare time I would love to know your method for making oil.
On a sad note...
My lemon skunk clones are dead. I screwed up. I neglected them during the harvest/drying/manicuring process. I have learned my lesson, and my wife is now going to help me keep everything going in the vegetative room from now on, specifically for times like harvest times, when I will be distracted and overworked. At any rate, the damage has been done already. I didn't want to bring it up in this thread before, because it was depressing news, and I was elated about my first 1000w harvest. But now that the elation has begun to wear off, I must update this thread.
I have already taken new cuttings to have something to go in the now-inactive 4x4 tent. But I didn't have enough cuttable branches on the lemon skunk mom, so I had to supplement with cuttings from the Stacked Kush mom. I'm still waiting on them to root, and as soon as they do they will probably (unfortunately) go directly into flowering, because I need to be completely harvested and dried by the last week of January, for vacation. That's the part that sucks the most about losing those lemon skunk clones... that I've been set back in time and I'm cutting it way too close now for my vacation.
Oh well. I suppose there are worse problems that can be had.
My buds keep up well in the fridge - no problem.I have read all about people reporting the "sour" smell after popping a vacuum sealed jar, but my understanding is that this happens with bud that is too wet when it gets sealed? I honestly don't know. I just don't want my buds to dry out, and that always happened to me in the past, when I kept them in non-vacuumed mason jars. By the end of my harvest, I would be working with crispy buds that burnt to fast. Hmmm. Maybe I should experiment with only a portion of the harvest...
Also I heard that storing the jars in the freezer causes trichomes to be knocked off the buds with the slightest jiggling motions. It makes sense.
hell ya kush long time no see! but i come back to this haha... look foward to reading your journal from where I left off last time peaceI just finished vacuum-sealing the harvest.

This is 3/4 of a pound here. We've been smoking on the popcorn nugs all this time. I have never had enough weed to be able to experience a long cure, so I thought that it would be nice to purchase a vacuum sealer and jar it all up. With the help of fresh-picked fan leaves I had the buds stabilized at ~60% humidity for the past week, so I decided to stop burping them and seal them up.
I know that the buds won't "cure" so much while in the jars, but I doubt this is a perfect vacuum, and I'll bet there was still a little oxygen in there when they got sealed. I plan on just opening the jars once a week or so, which will allow me to smell the buds, and to play with my vacuum sealer afterward.
As soon as the popcorn is gone, I'll crack open a jar. I am curious to see if there will be any changes to the buds when I unseal a jar for the first time.. or if they will have cured at all.
