Hot damn avi, what I wouldn't do for (or with) a space like that..

:respect:

thanks yall, glad to have ya here.... and don't hate me cuz i got lots of space, pretty much would (will) sacrifice living space for the grow when that time comes.... already planning an expansion into the "den" for veg....

Looking good! Those 4x8 Botanicare trays give me bad memories. I remember having to saw up a bunch of them multiple times to get rid of. I loved them but so hard to carry around and store. Good luck with your grow!

Awesome bro! So glad you decided to pop them beans :joint: You're the 1st one to grow the Sweet Casey, the Straw Cough beans should resemble there mother in all ways. The ones I grew out were pretty much clones :rasta: The room is lookin great, cant wait to see things come to fruition. Much love, SL

thanks SL, glad u checked in here....
im excited to see what comes of the sweet casey... never grown casey jones or sweet tooth, so i dont know what to expect, and the straw cough is exciting too.... smoked some amazing strwbrry cough last week.

^^seeds, batch 1, fem strawberry coughs are in there w blu ox, flo og, deadhead og, kens bay 11, etc.

so many seeds poppin...
picture.php

^seed batch 2, sweet caseys, dynasty jawns, jamaicans

today im transplanting the clones from cups to 3gal pots & bags (ran out of pots, d'oh!)
mixed a nice soil up for the ladies; peat, perlite, ewc, alaskan humus, paramagnetic rock dust, kelp meal, fish meal(s), crabshell meal, epsom salt, and a slew of mycorhizal products (mikey rizey, subculture m & B).

im thinking the first (older) batch of seedlings will go into 1 gal containers for now.

picture.php

^^ plants in the bucket system have really taken off big time in the last few days, gotta get in there and cut some clones.
a few clones didn't make it in the system, so they were replaced... with a budda's sister, blubery indica, & a bubba kush.

Seedling Update

Seedling Update

transplanted all the seedlings from batch #1 (the older ones) from beer cups to 1gal containers, here's some pics grouped by genetics.

picture.php

^^ only one blue ox made it... fml.

picture.php

^^ 6 flo og

picture.php

^^ flo og closeup

picture.php

^ "double deadhead og" by far doing the best of all the seedling batches.

picture.php

^^ 7/8 Sour on bottom, Kens Bay11 on tom

sad to say the rare dankness seeds that i was most excited about (flo og & blue ox) are stragling behind the other seedling sets. the strawberry cough (not pictured) is doing ok, 2 alive, only one transplanted today, the other is stunted/behind the rest.

but still excited to see what comes of them.

bucket system is pumping away, new pics soon come.

Well fuck Avi.....I gotta get out more often....Just moved back down to the beach with lil more time on my hands ta browse the forums , and yall mofo`s all parked up here in GD-ville....

Bro....Ran DIY 5 gal ebb and flow bucket flip rooms at 5 locations with 10 flip rooms for over 5yrs dialed and hoonin.....AS and Mr D have yas headed in the right direction , but.......

With plants that small when veggin in the same area yas`ll flower in , Krusty taught us back in the day to cram all the buckets together and concentrate lumens on stackin nodes and limiting internodal elongation.....then.....

As the foliage stacked and filled out , all yas hadta do was move the plants back and away enough to keep em from touching each other till they were back in their original lineup by end of stretch for canopy development.....IOW......

Look at all that wasted sq ftg with light hittin everything BUT plant matter , although setup and plumbing looks killer.......

I ran 35 plants with 36 buckets in 6 x 9 areas with 3-600`s inline and angled ceilings to bounce lumens up down and all around with dialed results......

The 1 bucket without a plant held an industrial float switch as a safety precaution wired back to the feed pump , so if as rootmass was built till end of stretch and threatened flooding from volume displacement during scheduled feed time , the float switch at flood level would kill power to the feed pump as the failsafe device since I only went to each location once a week once dialed.....and Avi...

Heath hooked me up with ebb and flow buckets preaching NO chillers OR rootzone temp management was needed like I`d been chasin for a decade with Krusty buckets , and that`s why I jumped head first........

The ONLY way root rot can occur in ebb and flow bucket setup is if "flow" is inhibited......Clogged drainlines and bullshit controller buckets are the weak links in the chain....otherwise....

Ebb and flow bucket setups are all but bulletproof.......I went to DTW coco increased numbers with stacked bulbs the last 3 yrs before shutdown/retirement cuz plant numbers dictate yield..

Went from 5 lb/2-1/2 oz plants in ebb and flow bucket flip rooms to 6+ lb rooms with stacked bulbs and 64 1-1/2 oz plants with the same wattage and lil less sq ftg , AND allowed me to do away with 2 rooms and 1 house for the same returns.......anyways......

Holler if yas have any questions , but there`s plenty help here from knowledgeable folks besides me......I`m just bored waitin for my crab traps to fill up to go with the flounders me and the dawg gigged last nite for supper this evenin on the grill.....

Peace......Freds......:ying:.......

This is what I'm talking about people such as yourself putting this info out here and so forth is awesome. I an't wait to get all my shit up and rollin.

hoping so.

Just a few questions, when considering your set up and the choices of growing Hydro or Organically indoor grows, is hydro the better option? Why? or is it simply choice? Or is it the fact that Hydro growing can turnout the end product at a much faster rate than organic?

see above: variety is the spice of life.
I've been growing non stop at all different levels for.... a long time now, a large fraction of my life...
I get tired of doing the same thing over and over (promix hp, hand watered, drain to waste), a couple years back I did 8K over 8 4x4 trays, started in 3" rockwool cubes, 100 or so plants per 1k & 4x4 flood tray. after months of keeping clone armies ready to attack... i switched that location to a soil mix in bags on the trays, atho, was never able to fully hit the nail on the head with veg times (usually over-vegged a tad for the flowering space). I wanna take a swing at that again.... ultimately going drip to waste on the trays, i think.
also, I've been wanting to setup an automated watering system for a while now, not only to give my back a break from watering, but also to potentially increase yeilds, and give a more consistent product.

as for hydro vs organically amended soil....
i'm doing both, 4k of each....
4k over the bucket system, 4k over the soil on trays.

I will say that the hydro bucket system def. veg's quickly as hell, some strains (buddah's sister) are blowing up big time in it...
i really wish i could have mono-cropped that bucket system, but just wasn't in the cards this round... maybe next time.
as for turning the product out quicker... im not to sure about that, like i said, veg is def. accelerated, we will see with flowering, im still expecting to go around 9 weeks in the buckets system.

Hey Avi.....
How many 5gln pots do you think you could fit in those trays......9?
like, true 5 gal. buckets? or 5 gal nursery pots?
not sure.
it's a 4x8 foot tray, so easily 9 could fit, at the size they are now, would take a while to veg them to fill the space, tho.

Thanx Avi. I want to fit 9 under a 600w lamp and Im sick of bringing the ladies to the tub to flush. I like to veg for a good while to get many heads. Thanx bro. Yes..5gln nursery pots.

ya, 9 plants in #5 nursery pots should be OK under a 600w lite... perhaps a lil cramped, tho.

I'd say that 9 plants on a 4x4 tray with a 1k over it would be ideal, especially for larger plants with more veg under their belt.

a 4x8 tray like im using would need 2k w. or 3 x 600w over it...

hope that helps.
