keeping males longterm

hiya ic,just a quickiefrom the dung heap! wots you guys way of keeping males longterm?..anybody use any hormones to keep them from flowering etc?nitrozyme, would it work for this?,what sort of light regime are you using ie 24 or 20 or even 18 lights on etc?..bosai or clone from clone?come on breeders out there let me know some techniques!!...help a beetle out here:biggrin:

Just harvest the pollen and freeze. Then just trim off all pollen sacks and most of the vegetation feed high a high nitro fert and put back under 24 hr light. Trim any pollen sacks that pop up the first few weeks. The plant will eventually reveg

cheers guys,i spose like some of the longterm female moms I have which have a few pstils showing in there so why shouldn't a male show his parts?..interesting I spose the occasional flower opening is a normal part of long term male keeping?no?cheers guys

I keep males in 8 oz pots, cutting from seed parent.

I take cuttings and upgrade the old male 2 or 3 times
a year.

18/6 under 72 watts cfl.

I just put my beautiful Male Fuel into flower to pollinate a Cheesedog, StrawberryDogshit, and a Power Kush. I want to keep this male around for a long time. Perfect structure. Dead Skunk smelling flowers.

I didnt have time to get a cutting from the only cut I kept from him, so Ill have to re-vegg him.
After I get the pollin I need, I just put him into a bigger pot, trim off 3/4's of him, and put under 24 hours of light.
I also store the pollin in folded wax paper, put into a plastic baggie, then into the freezer for future uses.

Keep them under 24 hours is better then reveging, You can also give them an hour of light every 4 hours and they will not flower.

Id like to start looking for males, any tips on quarantine and such for a 2 room grower?

I like the idea of a separate cabinet for males. It would be nice to be able to flower out males to collect pollen or flower males and females for small scale seed runs in a more natural way.

I just keep them with my moms at the moment.

Same traits as you look for in a keeper mother.
OR
The traits you want to pass into your keeper mother.
