I would wait 2 weeks and take a sample chop, just enough to smoke a joint and a bowl, let it dry for a day or 2 and smoke it. If it meets your needs then chop the plant down, but I wouldn't say it would for sure be done then either. From the looks 2 weeks you would still be chopping early, but thats me. The trichomes look for the majority very clear and shiny, not milky, and the pistils barely have any color to them.
On second inspection though, it looks like you might be spitting out some nanners there?
if the weather allows go another week or two but if mould becomes an issue chop asap but as others have said the only true way is to check your trics,,your plant is not too far off from being ready but a look at your trics with a loupe or micro will give you the most accurate view and your plant is defo chucking out nanners..good luck..peace and safe growing 944s2
Would definitely get those male sacs off the plant very carefully before they open. Otherwise, you might not have any choice but to take her early before seed production starts. Otherwise, I'd say 3-4 more weeks. Looking nice, though.
all about what kind of high you want.
when you pick 'em early from my experience it's real heady no matter the strain. but if you want some full effect stuff you have to wait until the plant matures. what's the point of putting in all the work needed to get this beautiful plant if in the last few weeks you just get over anxious cuz you trying to smoke something?
i agree with urbanfrog, best to get one of those handheld 10x microscopes where you can see closely exactly what's going on, but if not... i sometimes judge by the color of the pistils. trichome production peaks after pistils have turned the amber color. usually meaning that the calyxes (think i spelled that wrong) have swollen to the max and trying to find the maturity of the trichome can begin there all the way to letting it go to far and end up with some male bananas.
to each his own as far as i'm concerned, depending on what you're doing and looking for. trying to make fem seeds by letting it go past the end, looking for a preference in what you like to smoke? might want to look at some users growers reports to see what you like then make a better decision off having more information and knowing what you want.
No it is not ready. If you check the trichs look on the calyxes and not the leaves as they turn early. 45x scope works best for me. Cheap off ebay. Pistils should be brown and shriveled mostly, a few sativas will keep white on the top buds though.
So.... your plant has seeds in it because there was a male nearby. Did you want seeds?
If it is really seeded, then wait until the dark, striped, mature seeds burst through the calyx. Then harvest.
The plant in your photo has male pollen pods forming and from the looks almost at full maturation. I would pick them off gently with a piece of paper underneath the pollen pod and clip it or pinch it off before it pollinates your plant and you end up self pollinated seeds.
A big NO to picking it in 1 week. Unless you want buds with very little flavor and a high that you probably will not enjoy. If you wait 2-4 weeks you will enjoy a mature, full flavor, and overall pleasant smoke instead of a speedy, short lived, and bland high.
Also, if this is for keeping. I would suggest buying a few mason jars (glass jars with screw on lids) for when your buds are 90-95% dry you can cure them and enjoy quality cannabis longer without it drying up into a nug form powder in bags.
