Need lil´help about bho

hi people .. I initially had a good result, the bho was determined after the water bath properly and you could touch it, but then I did it again in the oven at no more than 50 ° and now it's somehow softer than before and is not really hard what is going on? it must dry it again? why it was previously harder?

My guess is that you have partially decarboxylated oil. Did you start with older material?

...no idea ...it was trim ...and after the waterbath i put it on the silipat and it was actually quite ok (i smoked some from it,it was fixed properly )...but since it was in the oven, I like it no longer, it can not be touched ... i dont know whats decarboxylated but it sounds profi, i want a dry bho like wax or honeycomp is it possible without vaccum purging ?

Nope maybe if you let it sit out might pickup more moisture the pump is what makes it the consistency your looking for it takes all the moisture out an leaves it brittle

now what can i do with the bho on the last picture when i still does not have a pump ... I do not understand why I can no longer touch it ... previously it was almost finished ...

Other than vacuum purging, there is nothing you can do to get it to become shatter, in my opinion. Vacuum purging is not a guarantee either, mine comes out sappy'ish occasionally. Because it was hard before doesn't mean you can revert it back to that state. Put it in the freezer for 5-10 seconds it will become hard again, but it will get sticky/melty again at room temperature and the more you handle it.

You can try winterizing/absolute'ing it, but it is not a guarantee either. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=168388 Other than that get a dabber and ti nail/swing set up, you'll want sap or shatter then.

Decarboxylated means that the COOH group has been removed, so that the oil is no longer in carboxylic acid form.

That can happen with time and drying, or with heat, so how old and dry the material is can have an effect, as can any heat used.

Carboxylic acid is hard and brittle at ambient, while decarboxylated oil is soft and sticky.

We make wax by first making shatter vacuum purging at -29.5" Hg and 115F. We then ball it up and cook under vacuum at 100F until it turns to wax.

....and is the decaboxylated bho the result of a not so well purged bho ? is the resin the reason or the gas ? when I know that the gas is completely gone?

Never tried to make wax out of decarboxylated oil, but ostensibly it would work.

If you are making wax for smoking or vaporizing, why would you want it decarboxylated?

Honeycomb appears to be an oil that has been heated and vacuumed long enough to form a hydrate and is easy to make given enough time.

...the decarboxylated was an accident in the oven i think ... i´m new to this
and i never put it in the oven no more ... next time I'll do the same again without oven ...and we will see the consistency ... i need a better setup to purge ... but i wanna thank u for ur help
