you should be aware of what you're ordering, i.e. does the seed bank you're dealing with use signed delivery?
otherwise, you'll be in this sketched out situation, and not knowing what to do
if your instincts are right, you're on somebody's radar, and there still could be follow up

So lets say I am on someones radar. Despite looking sketchy, by refusing the package I alteast protected myself from that... So in all likelihood there is no way they could realistically have a warranT, I would imagine?

At the very veryleast though, they could follow up with a "Knock and Talk" or whatever? As long as I exercise my rights and do not concent to a search I should be alright? I feel like I shoukd probably tear it down for now but Im just trying to make an informed and calculated decision.

Thanks again for the input everyome, its much appreciated

Did you look at his socks? Cops do (or at least have, in the past) used the tactic of taking something illegal to the address for delivery dressed and in character as the delivery guy. I've only seen instances of this with boxes full of pounds of herb shipped cross country. Doesn't mean they wouldn't do it with seeds..........but if you're in the US, seeds can 'for display or collecting' purposes so there could be an out there. most people just get them confiscated at the border with a little note months later telling you that customs has reviewed your package.

A poster above was talking about all the excuses you could use about the signature if the ordeal happened to be some form of trap and you signed.
The cops aren't going to listen. Only time you'll be telling those excuses are to your lawyer before he tells you they won't work in court. Judges don't want to hear conniving bs from people who think they're smarter than the system (unless its from a lawyer).

Yeah which is why I figured it would be best to just refuse the pqckage and keep my hands clean alltogether. I figure if they have something concrete, im fucked. the extent to which i am fucked would be determined later... Im just trying to avoid a situation alltogether, but at the same time im out of herb and who knows how long I would be out if i shut it down.

Can anyone clarify what, typically, they need for a warrant? What type of stuff usually gets people nabbed? It seems most small grows are when people overtly fuckup and consent to a search. But in the rare case of a genuine bust, what type of info do they need? Im on the fence about what to do still..

Odor is under control. I dont sell. Very few people are aware of it (wishing none did right now, though...). If I exercise my rights, and dont order any seeds here do you think I could stay the course?

Also, I didnt catch his socks... Is there a reason for that? Do they have to have their organization worn somewhere, and they sneakily wear official socks or something?

I THOUGHT, in retrospect, i may have seen translucent tapewith green print on it from a distance. Although customs tape apprears to be bright green. I remember it briefly caught myattention before I was distracted by his dialogue. So I cant say for certain. I will absolutely be on alert though. I should have been looking harder at the time

i think you are being paranoid here. just don't answer the door if you are not sure who it is for the next month and a half or what ever it takes the grow to finish. if they had reason to search your place and it was them in the first place they would have done so. for now all they can do is look for more evidence, electric bill, trash and knock and talk, which you should never answer. once the grow is done you can think again, either tear down and clean up or keep growing if nothing else sketchy has happened by harvest?

i would ask the seed co that sent the beans how they were sent, ie was it an id and sign deal or just a sign for them deal.

I WOULD SAY, IF THERE WAS ANY PROBLEM WITH YOU AT ALL...YOUR RIGHTS WOULD BE THROWN OUT THE WINDOW AND THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN INSIDE WITH OR WITHOUT A WARRANT...IF THEY WANT IN.....THEY GET IN....TRUST ME...WE HAVE NO RIGHTS....DJ
True that!!!!! They do what they want and then make reasons after they get what they want. If it was me I wouldn't be having shit sent to the grow spot. Always somewhere different. Even if I have to pay someone.

He probably just wanted to make sure he had the right address--have you had any seeds seized on the way to you before? They won't go to the trouble of a controlled delivery unless you have had at least two or three seed orders seized before. Since you had a package that needed a signature, they sent out a different employee--this happens in certain areas.

Why in the hell would you have grow supplies and seeds sent to where you grow?

I dont know anyone who would be cool with havingstuff sent to their home, and the risk of exposing that info wasnt worth it to me.

I have a garden and grow veggies, so it doesnt seem that out of the ordinary.

Also thanks for the help guys. Ill just lay low for a little while

To the OP. Wat u did was smart. Better safe then sorry. Always trust your gut instinct.

This happened to a buddy except it wasn't seeds. It was pounds.
the mailman knocked on his door and asked if he was so and so and if this was his house. very weird he ggot many packages before and was never asked these questions. But he said yes signed for it. And as soon as he went to shut the door the mailman/cop stopped it with his foot, and took his ass to jail.

I know seeds aren't as sought after as pounds through the mail. But anything is possible.

does seem like you made the situation worse for yourself. you wonder why he is confirming your name and address for a signed for package?? if anything like some else said, you denied the package so its in their possession. I dunno if they will open it but I guess theres that risk.

nah they will just send it back to the sender. either it was opened and the seeds were gone, in which case he did good not to even accept them. or it was just a normal delivery and the package will be sent back as undeliverable.

Perhaps I appeared sketchy, but being sketchy isnt a crime. I do feel alot better knowing that, if there was anyfunny business going on, I sent him away. Ordered many packages, and something was definitely off. I wont be ordering anything else here just to be safe. Hopefully their suspicion isnt enough. Ill be sure to stay on my toes and keep my head down. Maybe a good scare is good thing. Being too casual is pretty dangerous, even if you convince yourself otherwise.

If it was seeds, they can prove posession if you sign for it. Never heard of a seed order requiring a signature. I have heard of people busted for signing for it. That is why you put a fake name and if they ask, say nobody with that name lives there. Shouldn't be ordering beans when growing, ordering anything for that matter.

If it's illegal, don't sign for it. Keep probable deniability.

it takes a fairly high bar to get a warrant, seed orders apparently don't fall in that category
the worst case(initially) would be a 'controlled' delivery where the delivery guy/girl could testify that you received the package
that said, there isn't much of this going on anymore, seed orders are not a priority
but it will be difficult to grow at your spot now, if only for the level of worry

when i first got on here i bought about 80 packs of seeds over a 2yr period and 1 day the mailman says to me are you the guy that gets all the pkges from over seas ,that was the last time i bought seeds and that was YRS ago and i didnt grow where they were sent at the time .
now we make them for our selves
DONT SEND ORDER TO WHERE YOU GROW!
