Remembering old phrases/slang

Lets see how good the memory is. How many remember the slang we talked back in the day and the meaning of it. Of course this will differ from region to region as well as time period.

Mid '70's mid atlantic region.

'Freaks' were stoners.
'Hardrock' were the hard rock/metal guys.
'ozoned' meant you were as high has one could get.
'fuckin a' meant you were agreeing with someone/something.
'greasers' or 'grits' were the fonzee wannabees.
'jocks' meaning has remained the same over the years. no explaining needed.

Old slang!! I still speak the same way I did back then. I still use the term hip cat and doobie on a daily basis. Wacky tobacky, High as a kite, Hooter bob, spark a jay, and bombers come to mind. Shit !!! I was just smoking some bombers with these hipcats yesterday around the corner.

Some spanish ones I use alot are. Pot = Mota, Grifa, yerba, or colas. Pipa=pipe. To-ke = joint. Super chato = super stoned. He He He or ja ja ja. Spanish or english, its all funny stuff. Ill catch you hipcats on the flip side. Peace amigos

1st time I heard it I was in DC on the OLD 14th st. Black guy comes up and was like "hey babe hows it going?".
I felt my a-hole get real small after he said that. Then someone filled me in on it.

Burnout forgot that one as well as lid.
Then again a ounce was O-Z. "Hey man, let me cop an O-Z from ya. Heres 35 bones for it".

or when a 'nickel bag' was 1/8 oz for 5 bucks. Hey man loan me a nickle.

We did Cheech and Chongs Big Bambu album. Even used the sheet of rolling paper that came in the album and dumped a lid in it. What a waste. But it sure as hell was fun.

hank is right. A lid was the amount that fit on a plastic coffee lid.

They used to sell prince albert tobacco in cans like that and apparently in the 20's and so forth that was a very popular place to store your weed. (in the can).


Only term that sticks out in my mind as funny was "keep on truckin". My uncle had that painted on an old school chair. The ones with the built in table in front of you. They used it for rolling Js.
