today I put the screen on the second WW... I busted out the orange screen but I spent a good hour at least cutting the squares to make them bigger... they were about 1.5-2'' big, which was ok for training but kinda too small and difficult to remove buds during harvest... so I cut them and now they are 3-4" and way more easy to work with... after the last time that I used this WW and had poor yields for no apparent reason other than I didn't use a screen at all and just let them grow natural, I know firsthand how important it is, so it was worth it.... here is a pic...

I have begun training on the ones that can reach the screen and in the morning before the lights go out I will do my first sucker branch removal...

in other news, I may be able to keep my growroom temps in check after all... turns out that the cold air duct coming from the AC to the WW room had came loose...duh.. so no cold air has been entering the WW room from the AC the last couple days... now that that's corrected my temps are better.. it was 82F when I was in there with the dehuey running also...(it not as hot as it been the last few days though) I may not need the dehuey as much these days so I can cut down temps a little by not using it as often, if at all... but I left it on and reset the thermometer and I will check my high/low's in the morning also and then go from there... I will be happy with a max temp of 86F, just for summer...

anyways I decided to take pics of them tonight.....

there still seems to be a lot of foliage I wish I would have removed with the last defoliation.... here in about 5 days it will be about 2wks from harvest and I will go a little heavier on the trim this time... and then 5-7days before harvest, I will remove pretty much everything that's left.... I would just remove them now, but there is so much that I want to remove that it would almost be a whole another trim itself... and its been so soon since the last one, so I will wait... I need to make a note to self to go heavier on the trims next round....

that's it for now.. I may do a little update in the morning just to mention how the temps when during the night.. maybe a few more pics

Looking good G! Probably your best canopy yet... It just needs to get thicker/deeper and you'll see those yield numbers climb. Keep up the good work! Happy to see you back around these parts.

I don't know if its the best canopy... it is not as deep as past canopies, but I removed way more sucker branches this time ( I always end up with too many buds that I wish I removed) this time pretty much everything is screen level... and it didn't get as thick as others, I do wish it would have filled in a little more... but I am making sure that the buds have enough space to reach full potential, especially tops..!! I have had issues with trying to cram too many buds in one space and them crowding eachother out... but like I said I wish it was just a little thicker... gotta keep on dialing !!!

hopefully yields will still be good despite the 4-5day heat wave in the grow these last few day, where temps reached as high as 88F..!

thanks bobble.. I am glad to be back

pics an update coming up as promised !!

this morning I went into the WW room to see what the high/low's were last night.... even with they dehuey running my temps were 58-63% humidity and 79-84F... which I am very happy with !! Co2 levels are maintained, so the little extra heat shouldn't be a problem and rez is outside the room and staying within range...

i did the first sucker branch removal on these and a little more screen training...

over this next week i will be busy filling in the screen so hopefully i have a great canopy once finished...

and these ones are just cruising home... all that's left for this is another trim here in a few day and a final trim a week before harvest... letting the nutes dwindle until harvest

that's all... thank everybody !!!

***EDITED ON 8/01***

another rez change on the aero mom...

she looking really good... its kind of hard for you to tell how fast she is growing when I am LST'ing her....

here she was last week...

here she is a week later..

****and another week later****

the growth is explosive !!!

I added just a little calmag to the nutes this week...

8gal= 3ml calmg, 15ml Micro, 30ml Bloom, 2.5ml Roots Excel, 8ml Silica, 20ml SM90, 1ml bennies..... I use the most products in veg...

temps in the veg room are 77-82F and 66-70% humidity

I have 6 open systems in my old room.. and I am about to have all 8 open in a week... I have 75 clones rooting now that I took couple days ago and I am gonna pick the best 48, veg them out, and divide them amongst as many systems as I can... then as soon as they root, I need to take another large batch so I can fill the WW after harvest, with only few days between crops.. so I may take my first clones from the aero mom (its essentially training too.. cut a branch, it becomes two) if my old Waterfarm mom doesn't have enough.. I changed my old mom nutes too, so hopefully she will be in need of a haircut by then too...

Hey man I am a little late to thread but awesome job! Idk if you are going with that A/C unit but I noticed it said it used single phase power, 208V... this is not common in USA but idk where you are... just looking out for potential problems...

better late than never.. glad you could make it :tiphat:

I am in the US... but I have scratched the portable AC idea anyways... I got my temps back in check with a simple fix and the scorching heat wave is over... my current max temps are 84F, which I am satisfied with for the summer... even a few degrees more and I cant really complain... even if it wasn't under control, I probably would have went with a second window AC with a box around it... it would have been much cheaper and not too difficult....

summer growing can be a pain, but I seem to have a handle on it once again... :)

either way thanks for the heads up... much appreciated you having my back :thank you:

edit: who neg repped you ?!?!? smh

last night I did a little more screen training on the second WW... I had lost track of time and realized that they are on day 11 and I hadn't done a rez change yet.. I try to do them on day 9, 18, and 27... so I change the rez today and I will just change it again on day 18, 7 days later.. then I will be back on track...

I gave them the usual nute recipe except I could only give the 30ml of calmag instead of the usual 50ml.. need to stop by the store and grab more.... rez changes have become sooo much easier since I have started to use a pump to assist..

the other WW nearing harvest seemed to be draining very slowly... there were so much roots in it that they were starting to clog even my backup drain... so I took off the rubber cap to drain the extra water in the system... and then I took an extra dome shaped sink strainer that I used on my aero mother system and put it over the backup drain hole to keep roots from getting in the tubing and clogging it... its been pretty set it and forget it, this I the first hiccup in the operation of the WW in a while... and it was very minor... the last couple crops didn't have this problem so maybe that means there is more roots than usual... no damage was done to the plants.. only a little bit of extra built up water in the WW spilled on the floor, nothing to crazy.. and it could have went at least a few more days before it became an issue... if I could go back I would put one of those sink strainers over each drain hole....

I want to start doing a little experimenting and personal breeding.. I have 5 Sour Bubble seeds left and am always wondering "what if there is a better keeper in there..?" but I want to have those seeds just in case something happens to my mom or I move, I will always have the SB....

so I figure a good place to start is to make more SB seeds... if I get all males I can cross the best to my keeper.. If I get all females then I guess I will have to make feminized seeds..? with a good mix, I can test the other females to my keeper and cross it with my best male... I have a lot of reading still to do, and I have been checking out the breeding section here and there... my biggest question/concern is how can I keep a male without pollinating my production rooms???

I would obviously change clothes and shower after handling the male but what else..? I don't think I will build a separate breeding room.. I may build a small room to flower males separately, but I am guessing it would have to be sealed, cause you wouldn't want active intake/exhaust cause you want to keep pollen contained...? I think I will just pollinate a few branches manually.. ... collect some pollen... apply them to a few branches and mark them... and harvest some seeded branches along with my regular buds... that's the plan at least.... get a little practice in and make more supply of SB seeds win win..

I have no pics of the WWs so I will give you these dried and cured SB shots to hold you over... trimmed with SP and cleaned here and there..

I will take pics tonight or tomorrow... :blowbubbles:

G

GMax

ok I am gonna go ahead and take care of the update tonight...

I did a little more training and sucker branch removal on the second WW.. didn't snap any pics of them, but they are filling the screen pretty well already and I just changed their rez so they should explode over this next week and fill in the rest of the screen... maybe I will take some pics in the morning if I wake up in time...

I did the third defoliation to the WW that is nearing harvest... I trimmed them up pretty good and it should allow for better airflow through the plants... once I trimmed them up, the empty spaces in the screen became more noticeable... so after I cleared out the leaves, I used some paper clips and the screen to fill in as many open gaps as I could and to bring any buds that are not getting much light to the front of the screen if possible..... its not too bad though I would say the screen is 91% filled...and there are no buds being choked out and enough room for them all to reach full potential...

here is some pics....

before

after

close up

this took me 32 min to do.... so I am now up to 7hrs 31min with WW... all that's left is the final defoliation in about a week and then I am done with this crop til harvest...

this crop looks like it is gonna turn out pretty good... my lowest straight numbers is 26oz.. but that crop had quite a few issues; including being off center from the light, so one side's buds were much smaller than the others... that was my first run... I have broken gpw with this system and SB, but that was in the winter when it was cooler... its summer now, I have had a few issues with temps, and they are still not optimal, just decent.. and a litte bits of empty space in the screen here and there.. other than that, it is near perfect, so I am hoping for at least 30oz this run...

but I am getting too far ahead of myself.... I am still at least 16days away from harvest.. I had that issue this morning and I addressed it, so it shouldn't be a problem anymore.. and I am gonna fix the other WW the same way before the same thing happens to it.. but another issue could come up, you never know... its part of dialing and working out the kinks and I should have all the kinks worked out before too long... then it will be constant cruise control, and I will know what to look for to avoid problems...

cant count your eggs before they hatch...

that's it for now... good night..

I just want to stand in the middle and have all walls fall on me. .

DAMN that's a nice set up ya gotz. ..
Work that dank magic. ..

Stank central ...

G

thanks alien dawg..! I hope the walls don't fall in on me though :) ... lol it stands by itself but I have it tied up for some extra stability just as an extra precaution from that

so I know that you breed and make seeds... how do you keep pollen out of the seedless bud rooms ???

thanks for the kind words

Being you just want to do a small seed run, you might consider making a sealed pod out of a clear Rubbermaid container. Just take a appropriate sized container (depends on how many plants and how large they will finish), cut two 8x8" holes in either side, then seal a piece of hepa filter over the hole (think high end furnace filter). Seal your male and female(s) in the rubbermaid container and place in your flower room. The container and hepa filters keep the pollen contained while allowing air flow to the plants. Running a drip line or flood port is also advised so you can water without removing the plants.

thanks sativa dragon !! glad to see you enjoying the show !! I love DIY projects.. it is a great feeling to build something from scratch and have it work with great results !! and the WW has accomplished everything I set out for it to do, and actually ended up being easier and more automated than expected..!!!

If I had to start from scratch all over again I would definitey rebuild the WW... no regrets

thanks for the kind words bro... stay tuned because I am gonna be growing some new strains here soon and the variety will make this thread a little more exciting...

that is a great idea !! I really don't have room in my flower room where they would receive good light because there is already plants completely encircling the bulbs in both rooms... but I could just put it in the area behind the 'donuts' where I walk around and then throw a set of CFLs over it as well...

I could take a regular Rubbermaid container and drill out two 3'' holes in the lid so I can put in the netcups... one for a male and one for a female...(or maybe a few holes so I can pollinate a few females at the same time) then I could add a drain at the bottom (for emptying nutes) and add a light solution of nutes and an airstone and run a sort of SWC to DWC system in the container... then I can put the clear dome over it with the filters like you said... that way I can change the nutes without having to take the dome off... I would take clones and only veg them a couple days, if at all, so they should remain rather small... they are only there to produce a small-medium batch of seeds, nothing else... I will collect the seeds and probably toss or hash the buds..

but I also want to be able to collect pollen so I can store it for later.. I may still build a separate small breeding flower room with just some CFLs and have the container w/ clear dome in it also... and double up and put some hepa filters on the intake/exhaust of the tent as well... that way I can remove the dome without letting pollen out in my flower room.. then I can collect the pollen also.... I also heard that you can spray the air with water around the entrance when I enter/leave the tent to keep pollen from escaping...

my #1 concern is not having my production rooms be pollinated... I have only had one accidental pollinated crop in my career... damn bagseed hermied on me and I didn't catch it in time..

thanks for the tip Mr D..!! I will more than likely end up doing that... :respect:

Your ¿ already answered ill just say when I did the bh cross(1st season) I did the tote in a closet (different room)with cfl only and that alone worked great.
I took a cutting that was starting to flower and took it to the closet for a few days to a week then set it to the side of the tote and hit it with water spray a couple days and back into the room to finish.
It helped that the plants were small and none of my other ladies seeded.
The only lady I left with the male till cut was the SSH. Tons of seeds on her.
This run I want zillions of seeds so I'm leaving the male in till day 65.
Taking him out and he is going under cfls or the 150 hid to collect pollen.

Male don't need lots of light and in the future I would go micro cfl grow with males for pollen.

Then use the stored pollen when needed(knowing that fresh is better but stored pollen allows for more control and less stress...lol

I would not suggests any take what I'm doing as the best way or even the right as im all about experiments and seeing for myself till the end of this season.
Reader beware. ..:dance013:

thanks for all the info alien dawg, it is very helpful..!! that is what I am looking to do, a small micro flower room with CFLs just so I can do some experimenting for fun...

I will grow out a father plant from seed... then I will take some clones and choose the best one to pollinate the females I choose and then also collect as much pollen as I can from it and store it... I will probably only do a few rounds of male clones through flower before I toss him and just keep its stored pollen.. I only wanna make about 20-50+ Sour Bubble seed and then use stored pollen in the future if I need to... but sometime in the future, I want to find some good sativas and cross them with SB.. I wish I still had my Sensi Star keeper to cross with a SB males..!!:wallbash:

so I am gonna build this breeding room just for a little fun and for making personal seed stash and interesting crosses of my choice...

these plans are still a few weeks away though, but the idea of breeding is becoming very interesting to me.. but I got a WW harvest coming soon and another one right behind it... and I still have a top priority of ordering some more seeds too.. so I have to do all that first.. that will be plenty of time to brush up in the breeding section..

but for now I am about to pop these last 5 sour bubble seeds I got in the next few days so I can grow them out and hopefully find a good male to make more seeds with... or a better female keeper..!! I only need my current veg room for that...

G

GMax

time for another update....

there isn't much to say cause I haven't done much with either WW crop the last 3 days... this morning I did do a little screen training on the WW crop that is still stretching... stretch will be over in a few days for them...

the other one is still cruising along.... here in about a week I will remove the rest of the leaves, then it will be time to harvest it a week or so later....

here are some pics...

a little of both crops in this pic...

and then here is the next round up..

the clones I took have roots and are ready to transplant into veg... these clones will be divided amongst my old systems... then I will take another batch of clones either today or tomorrow, and that will be the next WW round...

I do need to correct the time... in the last post I said I was at 8hrs 31min on the current WW, but that was incorrect, it is really **7hrs 31min**.. I should be able to do the final trim in under 29min... so I should finish around 8hrs total spent on the WW in its lifetime !!!! (APPROX 9WKS)

well that's all for now... thanks everybody !!
