Easiest way to make hash! Quick Wash ISO!

I am only on page 4 but I had a related question. Can you use iso to get the kief out of an aluminum grinder? I tried this with 91% and when evaporated it looked a lot like what you guys have pictures of. But the smoke was shit. Decent taste but no high at all. Did I shake it too much or soak it too long? Am I going about this wrong?

99% ISO used for sure. have jars, filters, pyrex dish, and heat pad.
will have pics soon. any thoughts or suggestions?
Ive heard 12 seconds all the way to 30.. thinking about running through filter and some activated charcoal... thoughts?

We do it frozen and start at 30 seconds. If you experiment a little, you can see at what point you start to pick up green. Do it for 30 seconds, pour it off, and look to see what you have. You can always do it again.

Charcoal will make it purdier, but you will lose some of the cannabinoids. We like a chromatography column better for lightening colors.

thanks for the info on the chromatography column..
things have been coming out nicely for sure.
need to take some pics. getting different consistencies and narrowing down the ways to get each one. from oil to taffy to crazy shards. all seem to be intense bright red to gold in color. "gemmy" no matter what though.

This was so easy! Thank you so much. I took some crappy popcorn trim from my last grow and got at least .5 gram very heady because it was early trim. Thanks again mm peace sdd

Tasty stuff

I did a bunch of super lemon haze popcorn nugs. The iso was delicious. Good strain for iso. Thanks for the info.

I'm going to try this today with some nice trim I have. Does this yield enough to use bud matirial or is it better to do with trim?

Suppose a person had some trim (fine manicure but still trim), with enough for two or more quart jars.

Since it is trim, with lower yield, would it be reasonable to use the same ISO wash for the second (or third...) jars? For example, wash jar 1 with ISO, filter, and put the ISO wash mix back in the freezer for a few hours. Then take that mix, and wash the second jar with the partially used ISO from wash 1. Then repeat if possible with other jars of trim.

Obviously there will be some loss in ability to capture cannabinoids with each successive wash. For "trim" would this be all that significant for two washes? I can see why bud would be a problem. I guess the question is "what is the saturation point" of an ISO wash?

The same question comes up with bud. Should the ratio of ISO solution to bud weight be higher than ISO to trim? (my guess: yes) Since the cannabinoid content of bud is easily twice that of trim, it would seem to be "ok" to use the wash twice.

A second question:
How long can a washed and filtered ISO solution remain in the freezer, before significant degradation? I know people do tinctures, so would "carefully" storing used ISO wash solution in glass for a month/week/day be ok in the freezer?

Sorry if I missed this and it was posted earlier in the thread, but I did read all 49 pages. Great thread, and great forum!

I just found the answer to the first question on isopropyl saturation, posted by Jump here:

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=4378554#post4378554

The above thread ^^^ gives good guestimates on extraction saturation limits.

Does anybody have any thoughts on storage life of partially saturated iso wash (or perhaps ethyl extraction) solution in the freezer? This might be useful in some continuous grow/harvest situations, or even in a situation where you want to extract now, but postpone the evaporation and final purge for a few weeks for whatever reason.

I like the technique, just trying to do some tuning for my situation... and occasional convenience.

i made quite a bit of qwiso ever since i caught wind of this thread and ive made som decent iso, some bad iso, and some incredible iso. The best iso i ever made was light golden blond in color and when i gathered it all together put a flame to it it had a darker amber final color and the end product got as hard as candy(jolly rancher), broke off in shards like galss. The not so good iso ive made was dark brown almost black, was gummy and wet, never really hardened at all(this is my least favorite qwiso ive made). I dont know what i did wrong or right, but all i know is the lighter colored harder stuff was way better, i dont know if it was the strain, something i did wrong in the process, or if it was the wrong ISO i used. I always do the qwiso the same way, with the same equipment the only thing that changes consistently is the strains i use. here are a few shots of qwiso ive made over the years :

Hi Thread makers!

Long time since I posted. I used the method in this thread to successfully make enough hash to last me months.

edit: answered my own question!

Great thread, guys. Read all 49 pages and have made several successful batches of ISO oil. Thanks to all.

First time run and did really good for only using commercial tree

First time run and did really good for only using commercial tree

Did a first run and turned out great. Ran 3 washes of 7 grams of some reggie greens and was surprised of with the outcome seeing most people's posts and videos they always use dank. But I only retrieved oil from the first wash the moon dust is from all 3 washes from the filters. Going to extract the other oil from batch 2 and 3 tomorrow. But here are a couple pics of the outcome.

This my first post and first time trying to post pics so bear with me. Hopefully these are pics of my first 3 attempts at qwiso. They all taste great and are just as potent as the crumble wax I get made from my trim.

I just made a batch of QWISO. This time around I purposefully did a longer wash than my usual 30 seconds, and I didn't freeze the iso or the material. I wanted to see if it would make my end product a bit more waxy, and easier to handle, than the usual shatter/glass I end up with when it's very pure. Anyway, this is what I ended up with after purging in the oven at 170:

Haven't sampled it yet, but that's because I'm going to re-melt it and try to remove the honeycomb look from it.

I read this whole thread... and finally decided to give it a go.... my friend and I each bought 2 grams of dank.... and I also bought a quarter of some mids.... And I decided to make this with the mids.... and this is what we got.
