awesome thread, wish i had found it sooner.
as a man that uses both HPS and LED, whats your honest take on them both?
and i feel you with the blumats, hate the little buggers so much

Thats a tough question. They are both very comparable but I dont say LEDs out perform HPS to justify the price. Watt for watt I feel they are the same but LED does produce a more high quality bud IMO.

dont they run much cooler too? And you cant burn your plant with them?

when you say watt for watt on the LEDs do you mean the projected watts or the actual draw watts, cause they seem to have 2 standards or wattages. most vendors say its a 500w unit and then say it uses 350 watts.

When I say watt for watt I mean what they are consuming. None of the projected bull. So I have around 480w actually LED power consumption and it is warmer or equal to the heat of a 400w HPS.

The whole 90w ufo or whatever equaling a 400w HPS is complete crap. The energy of a watt is the same. I know folks that can get 1w per gram with HPS and I know of not a single soul in the world that has pulled 400grams off a 90w UFO. 1 watt = 1 watt in my books. Perhaps LED may deliver it more efficiently with a little less heat but honestly the benefit does not out way the price.

I would not trade one of my 600w HPS lamps for an additional 480w of LED lets just say.

Do I like owning them? Ya sure, its easier to work around the plants with no barebulb blinding from every angel but they are more a hyped up show if anything.

They are however, a nice solution to a small scale grow where huge reflectors, ducts, and fans are just not realistic.

Few more shots of these organic pure power plants. Is it me or do these girls look like they have a tinge of purple to them? I couldnt tell when looking at them in person because my eye ballz were tainted from that damn HPS. I was supposed to let these girls go until 10/30 but I think I may pull them on 10/26.....umm

My pics are kinda bogus and blurry I know. Someday Ill get a nicer camera. Or one that can at least take some quality macros.

Thanks D. I havent been on here for a while, sometimes life just gets so damn busy. I never gave up growing thou, makes me wonder if ill always be doing this.......I love it so much but it makes you live a certain life style....ya feel me? Different from everyone else.

Its no joke when people call this joint a community, all the same people around, with even more knowledge under their belt then last time.

Anyway, I changed a lot but stayed relatively the same if that makes any sense? I dumped co2 about 4 months back and since then I have been doing so much better. I just couldnt give it up thou, I had it lodged in my head that if its there it has to be better. Something about running a co2 burner in two enclosed tents was doing my girls dirty. Maybe my PPM4 was junk? I dont know but since then things have been going great.

I have two bloom tents total still but I went down to smaller tents with larger lights.

Now running 2 - 4x4x7 tents, one is a stacked 600w/400whps colosseum and there other is a single 600whps.

The single tent houses 7 plants and the 1000w stacked tent houses 11 plants, so 18 total. I have it running where I harvest 6 plants every 3 weeks. I have and always will be a fan of the perpetual garden.

averages about 11.5-14.5oz every 3 weeks depending on which bulb I am harvesting.

Everything in bloom is on tropf blumats with a auto top of resv. Still organic soil and a straight h2o drip.

pics once I get some space freed up. No once else has run into this problem? Looks like each account is only allotted 50mb of space??

Well I figured out how to delete attachments. Just have to go into your settings tab and attachments is in the lower left corner.

Here are the two bloom tents. First pic from the left is the single 600w tent and the last two are the stacked 1000w tent. It is a tight doughnut as ya can see. Some of the fan leafs closest to the bulbs are getting fried out but thats just the nature of the beast during the summer. The tent is spiking 90 degrees for an hour or so about 3 times a week. The tent is averaging 85-86 degrees.

Those issues dont exist in the single 600w tent though. Just a constant 80-82 degrees.

Current strains are jack flash, master kush, pure power plant, and great white shark.
I need to experiment with more strains, it just requires a lot of time and work to find powerful genetics.

My master kush is by far the heaviest yielding strain along side the jack flash. The pure power plant seems to have lost its vigor and the great white shark is just not a grand slam like the jack or master.

Anyone feel free to through out some suggestions for a nice strong 9wk strain.

Definitely feel you on the grower lifestyle, but I've found it suits me just fine. I'm reclusive by nature these days (years in a box with killers and rapists doesn't make for the most social of people). I'll hazard to guess your plants were getting WAY TOO MUCH co2. Just the pilot light on my burner keeps three 12x13' rooms sitting at around 1200ppm.

At any rate I know several others that have run out of space, but never bothered to ask how they deleted pics. Let me know when you figure it out, i'm sure i'm starting to run a bit short on room myself. Kind of thought I had 500mb in my gallery hmmmmm. I know you get more space to an extent as your post count goes up, but i'm old an not hip to all the fancy shit this site does .

okay so I weighed my options and decided to build a new bloom room so I can run an A/C. The heat was killing me in the individual tents; I am trying to consume as little as energy as possible but the heat was effecting my return way to damn much.

I did a simple design that can be taken down in hours, something I must have the ability to do.

Bought 1/2 insulation board from the thieving con-man's placeer and basically nailed it to the rafters to form a 10'x5' room. I used cinder blocks on both sides to secure the bottom spaced every 3 feet.

It did the trick and was simple as a hell. Running a small 5000 btu A/C on the bloom schedule and a 24/7 exhaust fan. Temps hit 90 outside today and my bloom highest temp was 79.

I have the a/c sitting on an old dresser behind the foam wall and a card board box around the rear of A/C unit with a 650CFM inline pulling all the hot air off the coils and blastin' it outside. I also have the carbon filter routed into the card board box on the other side of the wall. Before I was just exhausting all the out air from inside the tents into the basement. That works fine in the winter but I had to come up with something for the summer. Wish I did this from the get go instead of spending hundreds on tents. Live and ya learn.

Also ran two dedicated 20a 120v breakers for the bloom room. Have all three lights on one 20a and the A/C and fans on the other 20a. Can not wait until someday I own my own space so I can actually setup a slick, badass, growers dream bloom room.

Got a total of 18 plants and 1600w of lighting.

Also...little FYI....my bluemats seemed to go effin' nuts when temps went over 85 degrees. They kept flooding my tents, I dont know what the problem actually was but I think the heat was effecting the pressure inside the ceramic stone making the sensors open up. That problem only happens in warm weather. Went all winter and fall without a single issue. Nothing pisses you off more then opening up your tents and finding about an inch of standing water in the trays.

And pic one is the only tent I have left now, it is where all the veggin' happens.
