Ok well simplest solution to not having good enough space for a 1k would be... buy a tent... easily taken down and no cutting/drilling/building anything...

so what size tent would everyone reccomend for a vert donut?

4x4.

You can pull alot off that. If it's soil, don't roll with anything less than a 1gal cause it WILL be rootbound.

they only problem is this 4x4 tent is 7ft tall and my ceilings aren't even 7'... sooo...

any suggestions on shorter ones? 5 ft would be optimal... which is why I was looking at the 32"x32"x60"... and I will most likely be dimming 600w to 50% for 300 watts... sounds just about right to me... I understand you should always go overkill with anticipation of expansion.. but this is a temp setup i need to be able to tear down QUICK if anything goes south...

next setup will still include all the same equipment in a more permanent room...

wanna be real ghetto? when i moved into my spot i had a few 6' tall OGs 30 days into flower i brought from an old apartment.

i bought 20' of panda, a roll of duct tape and some staples.

i put duct tape near the edges of the panda, and stapled it to the ceiling and floor. the duct tape prevents the staples from ripping the panda since it's got a fabric type structure.

$10 zipper from the hydro store.

had a 5x5 tent setup in about 10 minutes for $30.

that is a pretty good idea... how did you go about removing the staples when all was said an done? how bad was the damage on the floor and walls?

I know from your 30kw buildout thread you said you completely remodel the homes when you are ready to leave but I will not be in that situation so if it is easier to just spend the extra $70 for a tent that is easily torn down then so be it... I'm already spending over $500 no matter what...

just a pair of needle nose pliers to take em out. tiny little dots left that aren't really noticeable unless you look for em.

i remodel cause i don't let walls and shit get in my way, but you don't need to demolish anything. at maximum you would need to get a $5 can of paint and go over the TINY holes the staples make.

this could be torn down in 5 seconds and thrown away. no dealing with little parts like poles and different connectors. not to mention the actual tent which is nearly impossible to fold into a reasonable size.

hmm I'm starting to like the idea more and more... just need to find where to do it...

did you do it in a corner so two walls were already built for you? or did you do it right in the middle of a room?

shitty thing is I'm in an attic and the roof is angled so I only have 26.5" of flat ceiling space... any reasons why the outsides of the ceiling being angled would be a problem?

If I go vert that would kinda be a problem because the plants would be on the outside... and they would have the least amount of space to grow... hmmm...

Pond liner the floor. Poly your "defined" grow space.

I'd personally scratch the vert idea due to your height limitations and just do a SOG with many small clones flipped to flower very promptly.

yeah i did it in a corner so 2 walls already there. you don't really need the top to be a flat space... run the poly out so the corner where it starts to angle up is the middle. there should be a stud there that you can attach your light to. that would allow you to make it 4x4. just stick your ventilation stuff in the top most area... suck out the heat as it rises there.

and like FF said, pond liner the floor. a 8x10' piece is like $40 at home depot.

already got pond liner on it's way... I am more leaning towards SOG as well due to height... biggest issue now is figuring out what I am going to do with all the heat... how did you go about your ventilation setup?

Ok just thought about this... I am no longer going with the 1000w... I do not want to even run the 50% at 500w... I don't feel comfortable running that on a SHARED bedroom circuit...

Also I have heard that dimming bulbs can reduce lifespan and could lead to not fully optimal results... is there any truth to this? and everyone agrees by now that dimming ACTUALLY does reduce wattage being used?

Also do the quantums have any problems with Radio Interference? I know it says they have fixed it all but has anyone done the A.M. radio test with the newer quantums?

so now I am figuring out If I want to get 600w and dim it with the possibility of needing to buy a new bulb sooner OR just going 400w and being stuck with max of 400w... until I buy a new ballast...

Maybe I should fork up the extra cash for the Galaxy's so I can buy the corresponding bulbs (400,600, or 1000) and just run em as I want... hmmmm... I'm a cheapass though and I like the quantums...

more research to do...

I would be hesitant to invest with someone who uses ellipses with such reckless abandon...

The "disclaimer" in your signature doesn't help either...

My advice: Just do it.

Growing the plants is the easy part.

It's the other shit that takes time and skill and balls of steel.
First you've got to build it, construction, lighting, electrical, plumbing, hvac (and it's gotta work).
Now you've got to grow it, and be profitable (easier said then done)
Now you've got to move it (the hardest part of it all)
And while doing all of that you have to balance the budget, make sure the bills are paid, make sure you've got what you need, and make sure everything is working like a well oiled machine all the while not leaking stink or making sure no one is on to you (cops, thieves, land lords, anyone that doesn't like you for any reason).

You said it would be a full time job, well, that's the understatement of a lifetime.

I hate to be a dick, but I come with a little bit of experience having worked my way up from a 250 hps. I find it insulting when people consider it a get rich quick scheme. It's actually easier to work a real job, because if you are trying to make a living on herb you've got at least 3 months till you see a pay check and a lot of shit to do to get you there.

totally agreed with u man.. I did stupid shit ( having a partner) and it fucked me.. for the first 3 years.. I got half the harvest.. and did most of the work.. kuz he was the INVESTOR... haha.. so then the last year I basicly told him to fuck himself. I was putting in 40-80 hours weekly.. keeping up everything.. trimming .. making crosses.. everything.. its just not worth it.. but I also worked my way from 1 400w in a 4x3x4 little box .. to a 1000w in a 5x5x8 room.. .. to a 3000w flower room for making the money... 1000 w flower room for seeds and clones never ran before. for phenol hunting an hermi hunting.. .. so from a 400w box. made it to a 3000w flower a 1000w flower .. 400w veg on a light mover... 2 cloning shelves 1 for domes 1 for beer cups.. and the 4x3x4 box for breeding/ crosses ...

so it worked out great.. in a sense that I worked my way up to growing sick buds.. and having a great room..

now the bad part.. so one day I was supposed to meet my partner a the house to split some hash n shit.. n I walk in to 50 of the 75 plants gone.. cut down.. the 25 ish they left weren't even close to done.. then they took all my clones. besides a clone dome I had in a diff room .. and they took mad equipment..

so if anyone says don't bother with a partner.. don't do it .
if u cant grow inside.. get shit started.. and toss them outside ASAP.... u can get a nice little outdoor harvest .. and then work ur way back up to a place an watnot.

someone always does more work.. someone always makes more money.. and some1 always gets pissed..
which in turn can get u arrested. killed. robbed.. whatever.

look at silverbacks posts for force flowering indoors then tossin outside to get a headstart to finish plants in ur area..

that's the only thing that's going to save me this year.. and because a good friend of mine.. helped me out with some nugs until my 25 were finished.

Get a 5x10 tent, 2 1k hoods, climate control system and a fan. Its not huge by any means but does have the possibility of yielding a couple pounds. Get used to the finer details like keeping the temp and humidity right, bugs out, dialing in your feed/water sched, and responding to your plants needs. Whenever you feel like you did a good job with this, be it 1 or 5 runs, you can duplicate it by adding more tents and keeping the same formula for each one.

I forget who said it, but growing the plants is the easy part, its controlling all the externalities thats a huge PITA. For example, my plants have been killing it for 3 months now and 4 weeks from cut-down we get a crazy humidity streak and power mildew starts growing on the leaves. I may have lost everything that I just spent months on, just food for thought if you don't plan on working a day job you can really get screwed. In my humble experience I can tell you that 1- Focus all your energy on building a clean atmosphere and 2- Have a day job until your a pro
