after a few days break from the growroom I had to get back to work...

today is day 9 for the WW and time for its first rez change... I used to use shutoff valves and gravity to drain the rez, but that took too long.. these days I am using a spare 396 pump I had and it is waay easier..

so first I have to unplug the solenoid.. I can leave the main pump plugged in because it is just in standby mode when not in use.. and I also leave the return pump plugged in since it doesn't take long to change a rez anymore so it wont run dry and it is one less thing I have to worry about... rez changes can be critical times because you have to unplug equipment and you cant forget to make sure it plugged back in afterwards..!!

so I have the pump tee'd into the main drain line and I just drop the pump in whichever WW rez I am changing and plug it in and it takes a couple min to drain it.... it drains all but the last 1/4'' or so of water which I then vacuum out with a shopvac....then I turn on the water supply and start making my nutes...then after the rez is full and mixed I plug the solenoid back in... the entire process takes 26 min... so I am now up to 3hr 9min on the WW...

the rez is 50-60gal and I mixed in 50ml Calmg.. 150ml Micro...225ml Bloom... 50ml Silica blast..and 150ml sm90...

the plants were looking great...! I dropped in for a few minutes before lights out and snapped some pics...

this is honestly the first time I have even looked at them since I transplanted them....9 full days without my assistance...the rez is on the outside of the tent so I can tell it is working without having to go inside...and as long as the return pump, which comes on every 60sec, is bringing back water, it is working..!

but this next week is the busiest of its lifetime.... every other day I am gonna be removing branches and screen training till the end of stretch.. next time lights are on, I am gonna start the training....

well that's it for now

a quick update...

I did some training and sucker branch removal with the WW this morning.. 25 min total.. up to 3hr 34min with the WW..

then I stopped in the veg room...

you can see in this picture that the upper part of the stems have no roots, but where I scrapped and split the stems is where it roots first.. that's why the extra steps are worth it.. these clones were taken on 6/26.. so note the date, it has been 7 days..and it looks like 99% success...

so anyone curious about aero root times... they showed nubs on day 5-6..pictured is day 7 ^^... and they will be ready to transplant in a day or two.. so it really depends on what you define as "rooted"

and here is my aero mom... I started LST training her the other day while I was draining the WW rez

26 days ago she ^^ was just another branch on my old mom ...:)

I got some harvesting to do so I will be busy for a couple hours today... before it comes time to harvest my WW crop, I am gonna have some type of harvest assistance.. I know everyone likes the bonsai hero.. but I think I am just gonna grab just a Spin pro... I know that not everyone has good feelings about it, but I watched a bunch of videos of it and all of them said that it does the tiny buds the best.. and since SB grows tons of dense popcorn nugs it might be perfect for me.. the only thing I am worried about is having to dry the buds without hanging them, so my buds may flatten

and its at my hydro store for $350.. and I get 20% off... idk I might change my mind....

I may be back with some bud shots or at least to log my harvest times...

:thank you:

I skimped out on building my aero cloner...always had wet floors, sprayer bar always falling off the pump...ahh that pic brings back good thoughts/memories. Thanks for that. Nothing better then poppin' the lid to see shit tons of white clean roots dangling.

Have fun choppin' :tiphat:

you gotta use some weather stripping to keep them from leaking.. or buy rubbermad "roughneck" brand and it wont leak... also it is wise to use glue to keep the pvc secure as I have had that happen to me before as well...

I would take a bullet for my aero cloner :) I wont ever give it up !!!

harvesting just got a lot easier as I went to the store and picked up the SpinPro...only $304.... :woohoo::woohoo:...I just got done harvesting and it took me under half hour to do (where it used to take close to 3hrs)

I am impressed with how well it does and I wish I would have gotten it sooner because I dread harvesting... if I would have went another couple months without it, I would probably have 2-3x the amount of time dedicated to harvesting than I actually spend tending to the plants...

I am gonna snap some pics.. I will be back

I'm tagged.... have you checked out the bonsai hero that bobble uses?

yeah I checked out the bonsai hero as well... I watched pretty much every trimming video on YouTube..and the bonsai hero seems to work very well, but it looked like it would be a little more difficult to use on the tight dense SB nugs... and every video of the SpinPro showed that it does a great job on the tinier buds, which it does, and those kind of nugs are 80% of my harvest

the bigger buds would need touched up, but I found if you cut them down to halfway real quick, then the spinpro would do a better job and you wouldn't have to go back afterwards to clean it up

here they are after a raw trim by the SpinPro... this is the yields from 2 walls of my old system...

obviously not as nice as a scissor trim, but good enough to where I don't have to go back over them in the market I am in... a nice little medium between looks and weight.. it did a better job than I expected and didn't damage the buds enough to justify the bad reps that they get IMO

and it cut my time down dramatically... I actually timed how long it took to trim the second wall and it was 47min... so about and hour and half for two, instead of almost 3hrs for one.... harvesting was actually starting to become my bottleneck... I know it is kind of a first world problem, but a problem none the less.... but no more, the SpinPro one of the better $300 I have spent on my grow in a while... and should honestly change my life by freeing up so much more time....

and here they are hanging in my new dry net...

looks to be like a really nice crop as well.. lots of nice size buds.. I will come back with the numbers after they dry...I have never dried my entire crop flat like this and I am interested to see how it turns out... is there anything you can do to keep the buds from flattening..???

you can tap the net or put your hands in and move them around.if they are smaller buds ,they dont flatten out that much especially if you move them around once a day.you do get alot of good waste when using the spinpro.i used to gift it to a friend down on his luck and he had enough that he didnt buy any and even sold a little of it each crop.doesnt taste great but he loved the price.it does work great if you have alot of smaller buds.i would do twenty five full cranks and the smaller buds would have a very good trim.it would bother me cutting apart bigger buds but it was the only way to get them good without hand trimming.my other buddies quit using their spin pro due to growing trees and big buds.they dont have many small buds.cleaning it can be a real pain too!

I have been doing 25 full cranks... and I clean up the bigger buds before putting them in the spinpro and they come out way better.... I wouldn't wanna have to cut the bigger buds down into smaller buds just to avoid hang trimming...either way the spinpro has made my job waay easier and quicker which is what I was going for...

I plan on moving the buds around daily now to hopefully keep them looking good... thank for the tip bro..!

happy 4th of July everyone !!!!

another 25min exactly worth of screen training done today on the WW...pulling branches forward and tucking leaves back... I am removing more sucker branches than ever before because no matter how much I take, I always wish I would have taken off more in the end... and it always affected my yields some...

So this time, anything that hasn't reached the screen by today was removed... I also removed some of the bud shoots that were lower down the stem of branches I did keep, which is something I never do... another thing I need to do to make sure I get the best yields possible is to make sure that my tops have plenty of room to reach their full potential and are not overcrowded... cause even in vert my tops are still tops and still usually the biggest buds..

This is the first and only WW crop I have done while completely living with the plants.. so it should be the best...anyways here some pics ... I just realized my camera has been set to 2012 this whole time... don't worry the pics weren't a year old lol...

I am now up to 3hr 59min total with the WW.... I have to transplant my clones over to veg today and time that and add it to the WW total and then I will have the rough actual numbers... here my clones before transplant...

it looks to be another great batch of clones...so if everything goes well, I should have 2 great perfectly spaced WW crops back to back... I have to go buy a few neoprene lids and netcups so I am gonna have to get to them later today or tom.. and then I update again...

thanks everybody

Runs under yer belt absolutely insures that yas do better every time yas re-do shit.......Glad ta see yas removing more bullshit that`ll never amount to more than flarfy bullshit Bro.....

Signs of knowing what it means to develop dominant colas/limbs for bottom line results and getting rid of sucker branches while opening up everything for better airflow and lumen penetration is gonna reward yas in the long run.....Respect.....and....

Sour Bub doesn't really grow larf.. even the tiniest buds at the bottom of the stems are still dense... but I am trying to remove as much of those buds I can to concentrate that energy into the more deliberate buds.... like you are saying

I am removing the interior buds to make space for the tops of the plants in the row beneath... so they overlap perfectly without crowding... the bud nodes of SB are also really spaced apart as you can tell in the pics... but this can allow for branches to overlap without blocking other buds.... I need to fill the screen as much as possible without crowding and only buds getting direct light and everything else removed... this will give me the best yields... and since I am closer to the plants, I should be able to provide that attention to detail.. I may do one more sucker removal in two more days

but in the future I may look for a plant with less stretch actually and more stacked nodes... I am ordering some more beans this week.. I already know I am getting some more BOG gear... I just don't know what yet.. I am also grabbing a pack of Fractal Genetics Strawberry Deisel F3 while they are on sale for a good phenol mom hunt... and then I am also looking at Reserva Privada's OGs... I cant decide between OG Kush, OG #18, or Purp OG #18.. they all look great... they only come in feminized beans but I am not too opposed to them... saves me space from sorting males ... and I still have 5 SB beans left

I plan on doing some crosses in the future

damn your grow is cleannnnn!!!

I grew 3 reserva privada last year, they all smelled like garlic/pepper. still have one that turns purple, very touchy with nutes tho. I had one hermie on me real bad too but I would still give them a shot. I want the og 18 and sour kush.

keep up the good work :)

Lookin good GMax, I haven't been on this forum in years.. I had to close up the space machine for a while. I got too burned out (no pun intended). I miss the fun and I'm thinkin about gettin back into it.. I've got almost the same set up as your WW, I got my set up based off of KingRalph and Billygoat - wonder if those old timers are alright.

I've only got 3 walls built, same PVC setup, 45 degree Y's 6 stacked and 4 across - 24 sites per wall. I run cool tubes. I wish I could run bare bulbs but where I am, its too hot now - really all year round, damn you sub tropical weather! It really is tuff keepin those temps reasonable, especially when youre running 2k.

This time around, I think I need to make a few changes.. maybe you could shed some light.. One, i have 3 separate rezs. one for each wall - are all of yours connected to one rez? I made separate rezs so i could do different nute magic in each. are you running your pumps 24/7?

How much space are you working with? my room is 8x6x8, things are kinda tight and if i dont suspend branches/ net back the girls things get way close.

Everytime i think i wana try growin a bit differently.. i look at the room thats built and think, the setup is basically ready! just fire it up! lol Oh yea.. are u using hydroton rock? i

Thanks, and it feels fun to be back and pokin around again. Cheers.

thanks bro.. it is hard deciding which OG to get..!! I am kinda leaning towards the Purp OG because a purple strain would get top dollar around here, but I have heard that they usually aren't that strong... I have never ordered from Reserva Privada

thanks for the kind wors bro !!

I remember KingRalph...!!! my old system design was based of his cooler setup in the link-o-rama ... but halfway through the build I deciced to go aero because my tubes leaned and I could build a water delivery system that doubled up to support they wyes also...

how did u get 6 wyes stacked...? did u build wheels for them like I did... every similar system/setup I have seen usually had the bottom row up on top of something like a table so they couldn't stack as many wyes... and also a section missing so they can access the canopy or for the drain..

I wanted mine to have plants completely encircle the lights from floor to ceiling and also be able to access the canopy... so this was my solution...

a lot of people on these boards have negative opinions of cooltubes, but I like them !! you lose a little light but environment is everything so it is worth the extra degrees cooler it keeps and u can usually get closer to the light.. so rock them if need be.. or grab yourself an AC...there is also ways to watercool your garden which I use as well (thanks Bobbles)

my old room has 8 systems with 8 separate rezs 15 plants per system .. it can be a pain having to change so many but they take under ten min to do each ... it is perfect now because my old room has become my ''tester room'' when I order these seed I will be able to do monocrops of each one with separate nutes so I can learn what they individually like.. and can run a few test grows and compare yields before doing a whole dedicated WW crop of them... so then by the time they go in the WW I should know them pretty well.... my WW room has two systems two rez 48 plants per system

I do not run my pumps 24/7... I have a ART-DNe timer that I have 20sec ON/ 7min OFF... I also don't use any hydroton or any media in my systems... just roots and air and incremental sprays.. (do you know what the CEC of air is) what kind of delvery system were u using ???

my room is 10x10 just so I have plenty of room to move around in there but I could fit it in a 8x8 but it would be tight... one thing you could do to save space is to make the system square instead of round.. I almost did that to begin with...

I would like to see some pics of yours if u can.. you can post them here if you want.. take some clones and fire that up I would love to see !!!!

glad to see ya back around....if you have any more questions or need any help just message or PM me.. I would be glad to help... thanks buddy :ying:

just real quick.. I didn't get around to transplant the clones until today... it took 52min to do.. here they are in the veg system....

I didn't time how long it took to transplant the clones of the current WW crop.. so I need to add 52min to the total WW time also... so I am now up to roughly 4hrs 51min total spent tending to the WW in the last 29 days.!!

that's it...

G

GMax

took these yesterday... did 17 min of screen training

gonna be doing the first defoliation in the next few days... also another rez change... but they got a few days stretch left first

up to 5hr 8min total with WW
